“Years pass... Memories stay forever”

Thodupuzha: Reshma Mariam Mathew of BA AGD S2 has secured ‘A’ grade in English Poetry Recita-tion at the Mahatma Gandhi Uni-versity Kalolstav 2016, conducted at Thodupuzha. More than 100 Partici-pants were competed.College Man-agement and the whole staff congrat-ulated her for the great achievement.

March, the end of an academic year and the time to remember all the past experiences with friends. It’s the period of realising the missing days of college life. We have not made any life transforming decisions but mistakes. Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so does virtue appear from good deeds and wisdom appears from pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of life, students need the light of wisdom and guidance of virtue. ese three years of wonderful experiences make them to face all the hardships of real life. “If winter comes, can spring be far behind” – If winter is approaching, all the trees shed their leaves and they are waiting for the spring to bloom. All sorrows and tears of this march will change into the happiness of achieve-ments. It’s the time to recall their friendship, memorising the golden days of togetherness, remembering the shar-ing and ghting moments at hostel and all the things they have done together. You have failed doing the thingss you hated, now it’s the time to excel in your favorite things. But sure, they can hope for a good spring season. Time passes by, students’ life will also change. Some will go for a new job... some will go for higher studies... Now, the days are com-ing for them to take strong decisions. Our life is a kaledoscope which re ects both happy and sad moments in lovely colors. ese days pave the way to start a better life, with new hopes and new expectations... May God almighty help you all to make your dreams come into reality. So now it’s the time to bid farewell to all the students and teachers. ank you everyone for sharing all those fantastic days of enjoyment with us.

“ Tomorrow to fresh woods and pas-tures new” May God Bless You All...

The luxuriant golden blooms of Cas-sia Fistula [kanikonna] are a heart-ening sight for everyone. From prosperity to abundance, the bloom-ing of Cassia Fistula is of immence symbolic and cultural significance for keralites. The flowering of the golden shower tree signals seasonal changes in the agriculture calendar of the state, heralding the arrival of harvest and ‘Vishu’. However, the flowering period of Cassia Fistu-la is advancing every passing year. The flowering of Kanikonna used to be a major signal for the farm-ers of the state who infact prepared

their agriculture calendar based on this. Usually the tree starts budding during peak summer season in the Malayalam month of ’Meenam’[mid March]and comes to full bloom only by ‘Medam’[mid April] at time for vishukani. But for the last few years, Cassia Fistula trees in the state bloom almost a month ahead and by the time Vishu arrives, the trees would have shed their flowers and would be standing almost bare.It has led to many households searching for atleast a bunch on the eve of Vishu. Without Cassia Fistula, keralitesVishu celebration would be incomplete.
