Introduction2011 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Skerries TraditionalMusic Weekend. This picturesque seaside town plays hostto a weekend full of music, song and dance reflecting theunique culture of the Fingal region. Leading artists travelto Skerries where they join with locals and visitors in acelebration of Irish heritage.

This year the Weekend kicks off with the Schools Outreach Programme on Friday morningwhen local musicians visit primary schools in the area providing an interactive workshop anddemonstration of various traditional Irish instruments. The 10th Celebration also features thedebut performance of The Future Generation of Fingal Musicians on Friday night. 2011 also seesthe return of the much revered Singing Session as well as a Master Fiddle Class in Cape Breton

Style. And for the first time we have Music onthe Street providing outdoor entertainment onthe Saturday afternoon.The energetic music of the tutors can be heard

in Skerries Mills on the Sunday morning, bynow a deep-rooted element of the Weekend. TheFestivities culminate with the return of theFocus on Fingal event to the spectacular groundsof Ardgillan Castle featuring a unique blend ofmusic, song and dance from the local region.
