The first UK Service Design Network Conference was held at RIBA in London in June 2016. Talks covered the social, commercial and future impact of service Design. Hazel White and Mike Press from Open Change were delighted to be invited to take present. Hazel sketchnoted a number of the talks. Highlights included Louise Downe, Head of Design at Government Digital Services (GDS) talking about how most services were not designed for the internet age, and many parts of government wishing 'the internet would just go away’. There were excellent talks by Paul Thurston Joel Bailey, Dr.Geke van Dijk, Nathaniel Giraitis, Tim Malbon, Toby Norman, Mark Priestly, James Samperi, Emma Watkins which Hazel didn’t record - but you can catch reactions at #SDNUK16. The resounding call to action was from Carrie Bishop of FutureGov - in this post- Brexit, confused and divided UK landscape - it's up to the community of service design to work with disenfranchised communities to enable people to reconnect. 1 Sketchnotes
