SKIESUnlimited General Information

Registration

All youth enrolling in any SKIES programs MUST be current CYS Services

members. Participation in classes will be denied if registration is not current, with no

reimbursement for paid programs. There is no fee for enrollment, but this must be

updated every year (registration will expire after one year, and youth will be denied

access to the programs until registration is updated). Application packets can be

picked up from Parent Central Services at Clark Hall or on the web at

www.drummwr.com .

Youth must carry their enrollment key FOBS with them to sign in to and out of our

programs. Youth in grades 6-12 may sign themselves in and out of our programs.

School Age students must have a parent sign them in and out. For more informa-

tion on CYS Services, please contact Parent Central Services at 772-8675.

Enrollment in Classes and Programs

Youth must enroll in programs and classes prior to the registration deadline date. All

fees must be paid at the time of enrollment. Programs that are billed montly will be

billed on the 15th or each month for the upcoming month. All billed fees must be

paid by the 1st of the month for the student to participate. If fees are not paid by the

1st, the student will not be able to participate in class and will be removed from the

class roster.

Disenrollment

All youth MUST be disenrolled from each monthly program they are registered in

where charges are billed automatically. Charges do continue for each space

occupied until a disenrollment form is submitted, and parents will be responsible for

paying the bills. Programs needing disenrollment forms include gymnastics,

taekwondo, and may include others - please confirm at the time of registration.

Please submit forms to our office at 10790 Chapel Drive.

Payments...

Can be made at our office, any Child Care or Youth facility, or at Parent Central

Services. Ensure the staff make the payment toward your SKIES program bill.

If you are choosing to use the Army Family Covenant to pay for any of the

monthly billed SKIES programs, PLEASE contact our office after the 15th of

each month so we can ensure your payment is processed. AFC benefits will pay

out any one-time fees when enrollment is completed (up to the limit set). Parents

are responsible for any bills remaining after the benefits have been applied.

You can also do business with CYS Services on-line! Make appointments

with Parent Central Services, pay your outstanding balances, sign up for

most of the programs offered by SKIES, access registration forms, reprint

receipts, and print childcare statements for taxes. Simply go to

www.drummwr.com & click on the link near the top left side of the page.

Visit or call Parent Central Services if you need assistance or a login name

and password (772-8675).

Programs………………

Martial Arts $70 per month Grades 1-12

Taekwondo classes from Tehonica’s Taekwondo & Hapkido Academy from the

Watertown area.

Classes meet twice a week - Tuesday & Thursday evenings.

Times: White Belts - 6:00-6:45 pm

Yellow Belts - 6:45-7:30 pm

Green, Blue, Red, Black Belts - 7:30-8:15 pm

Monthly fees are $70.00 per student and must be paid by the 1st of each month.

Uniform fee is due to the instructor at the first class.

Youth are also encouraged to take part in the Martial Arts Competitions that

are held throughout the year. Participation in competitions is voluntary.

All classes are held at the Riva Ridge Center, 10799 N. Riva Ridge Loop.

Disenrollment forms are required for withdrawal

from this program.

Pottery & Ceramics

Clay 101 – Open to students in grades K-12. Clay 101 is an introduction to

clay using hand-building techniques. Each student is required to take this class to

learn the very basics in using clay and all the machines in the pottery area.

Class fee is $5, and needs to be taken only once. Mondays - Time: 5:00-5:45 pm. Registration deadline is one week prior to

class.

Clay - Hand-Building Classes (Clay 101 required upon enrollment in classes)

Classes will consist of an assortment of projects

that make up the beginning stages of hand-

building with clay. Each class consists of con-

struction of the project and glazing. Students

will be able to take the piece home after it has

been fired (students will be notified when pieces

are ready). Ceramic pieces completed by stu-

dents will be eligible for showing in local art

exhibits.

Cost is $15 per class, and includes clay, glazing

and firing. Registration deadline is one week

prior to the class date.

Grades K-12 - Thursdays, 5:00-7:00 pm

Pick-N-Paint Ceramics $8 per class Ages 3-8

Select a piece of ceramics to paint and

bring home after glazing. Parents must

work with their children during class.

Mondays, Time: 6:00-7:00 pm.

April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; May 6, 13, 20,

27; June 3, 10, 17, 24

Registration is per class, and deadlines

are one week prior to class date.

Clay – Open Studio (Open to Grades 6-12 who have taken either Clay 101 or Clay 201).

Studio time is designed to give the student ample time to design, work on and

complete projects of their own design. Open Studio Time consists of 10 hours of use

of the pottery studio and equipment, 12 pounds of clay, all glazing, and firing for pro-

jects created. Students will receive a punch card, and have space in the studio for

their clay and projects underway. Cost for each card is $50.00, and is good for six

months from purchase. Students will also be able to purchase extra clay if they need

to (12 pound block for $10.00 or 25 pound block for $19.00) .

Open Studio — Mondays & Thursdays, 4:00-7:00 pm.

Please call to let our staff know students will be in on a specific day.

Glass Fusion Intro Classes Grades 6 -12

Learn to use glass in a new way - how to safely cut, melt and use in artistic ways.

Classes will teach youth how to create new objects from glass as they learn to use all

the equipment safely. Classes are each one session, and fees in April are waived to

introduce this new art program to teenagers.

Mondays in April Only - Time: 5:00-7:00 pm.

Register by Wednesday the week prior to class—5 spaces per class only.

Projects will need to be fired in the kilns and will be available to pick up at a later

date. Class size is extremely small, so register early for a spot in class!

Additional Classes in Glass Fusion:

Each date is a separate class, and one project will be introduced and completed in that

two hour session. Class fee is $15 per student per class, and registration deadline is

one week prior to the class date. The Intro to Glass Fusion class is required for regis-

tration in the classes listed below.

Mondays, 13 May, 27 May, OR 17 June

Registration deadline one week prior to class.

NOTE: One of the hazards of working with

glass is the possibility of getting cut. Please be

aware that the risk of cuts is possible in this class

just by the nature of the medium.

Doodlebugs Art Program $25 per month

Parent/Tot Ages 2-3

Doodlebugs is an art program designed for little artists that are just learning to draw,

color, glue and paint. Little artists (and their parent) will work with many different

mediums and learn about colors, shapes and how to use their creative energies.

Class time is Tuesdays from 1-1:30 pm.

April 9, 16, 23 & 30; May 7, 14, 21 & 28; June 4, 11, 18 & 25.

Registration deadline is the 28th of the current month for the upcoming month.

One child/one parent per class. Parent must participate with their child in this class.

There are no accommodations for siblings, so please make other arrangements.

PeeWee Picasso $25 per month

Preschool Ages 4-5

PeeWee Picasso is an art program aimed at teaching preschool aged students how to

continue to develop their ability to draw, paint, color and use scissors. Preschoolers

(and their parents) will have different projects each class and use a variety of medi-

ums as they continue to work with their creative energies.

Class time is Tuesdays from 1:45-2:15 pm.

April 9, 16, 23 & 30; May 7, 14, 21 & 28;

June 4, 11, 18 & 25.

Registration deadline is the 28th of the current

month for the upcoming month.

One child/one parent per class. Parent must partici-

pate with their child in this class.

There are no accommodations for siblings, so please

make other arrangements

Creative Movement Dance Classes

$20 per month Ages 3-5

Dance classes for tots and preschoolers to teach the basics in beginning dance. Stu-

dents will work with music to develop their large motor skills, and work with

rhythm and beats. Tuesdays, Fee $20 per student per month.

3 year olds - 5:00-5:30 pm

4 year olds - 5:45-6:15 pm

5 year olds - 6:30-7:00 pm

Parents must remain in the facility during classes.

Register by the 28th of the current month for the next month’s pro-

gram.

Sewing Classes

Required Classes—Sewing 101 & 102

Sewing 101 - Hand Sewing $6 Ages 6 & up

(Required class for all other sewing classes).

Hand sewing techniques are used at all levels of sewing. Stu-

dents learn basic stitches that they will use in many of the sew-

ing classes offered. Students will make one project while learn-

ing the stitches.

Tuesdays from 5-6 pm; Registration deadline is one week prior to class date.

Sewing 102 - Machine Sewing $6 Ages 6 & up

Machine Sewing (Required class for all other sewing classes).

Learn how to use the sewing machines we will be utilizing in all our Sewing

Classes. Students will be instructed on proper use of a machine, how to fix tension,

thread machines, roll bobbins, and set stitching features.

Tuesdays from 5:45-7 pm; Registration deadline is one week prior to class date.

Sew-Kool Club $35 per month

Ages 6 & up

PREREQUISITE: Sewing 101 AND Sewing 102.

Enjoy a casual learning environment as we hand-sew, cut fabrics, make sewn crafts,

and use sewing machines. Students work at their pace on projects of their choos-

ing—staff are available to assist as needed. Some supplies may need to be pur-

chased by the students.

Classes are on Wednesdays each month, Time 5:30-7 pm.

April 3, 10, 17 & 24; May 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29; June 5, 12, 19 & 26.

Registration deadline is the 28th of the current month for the next month’s program.

The following classes require Sewing 101 & 102…

All Classes below will be held on WEDNESDAYS from 5-7 pm….

REGISTRATION for sewing classes is 1 week prior to the class start date.

All Classes will be held at the SKIES Sewing Classroom, 10790 Chapel Drive.

Level 100 and 200 Classes are for Youth Ages 6 & up

Level 300 Classes for Youth Ages 12 & up

Sewing 103 Accuquilt Pillows 1 May or 19 June $12

Use the Accuquilt machine to cut shapes to accent the pillows each student will be

making using the sewing machine and hand stitching.

Sewing 203 Stuffed Animals 10 April or 29 May $15

Make a stuffed animal from patterns. Students will use machines to sew parts, learn

how to stuff, and hand sew edges closed.

Sewing 205 Book Tote Bag 24 April or 5 June $15

Learn to make canvas book totes for all your school needs and library books. Stu-

dents will use machines to make a sturdy open top tote bag.

Sewing 206 Pillow Cases 3 April or 22 May $10

Make a personalized pillow case using our AccuQuilt machine. Students will learn

how to cut with the AccuQuilt and iron-on handmade pillow cases.

Sewing 207 Owl Pillows 15 May $12

Learn how to make doll clothes for your 18‖ tall doll (American Girl style). Stu-

dents will learn how to machine and hand stitch their own doll outfits and accessories.

Sewing 300 Quilted Bandana Headpiece 17 April or 26 June $12

Bandana project for teens—sewing fabric slips together in the quilting style to make a

fashionable headpiece.

Sewing 302 Lazy Pajama Pants 8 May or 12 June $25

Teens—Make a pair of flannel or cotton lounge pants. Students will cut from a pat-

tern and learn how to finish inside seams. Each student should complete a pair of

bottoms in this class—if not, they will be free to come back and finish on another

night.

ART CLASSES

Glass Fusion— see page 5 for complete information.

Drawing Basics May 6 or June 10 $5

Learn the basics in drawing with pencils—lines, per-

spective, shading, and form.

Students will be using drawing pencils and practicing

the basics in each class.

Ages 6-8 from 5:00-6:00 pm

Ages 9-17 from 6:00-7:00 pm

Watercolor Basics May 20 or June 17 $5

Learn the basics in painting with watercolor—students will

sketch a basic design and work with the watercolors to fill in

the sketch.

Ages 6-8 from 5:00-6:00 pm

Ages 9-17 from 6:00-7:00 pm

Jewelry Basics June 3 or June 24 $12

Learn the basics of jewelry-making in this introductory

class. Students will make a simple project while learning

basic jewelry techniques.

Ages 10-17 from 5:00-7:00 pm

June 3—Chain Mail Bracelet

June 24—Beaded Chain Mail Necklace

Registration for all art classes (drawing, watercolor and

jewelry) is one week prior to the class date.

Babysitting & CPR/First Aid For Ages 12 & up

Babysitting and Red Cross CPR & First Aid will help train youth to be responsible

babysitters. Youth must attend all sessions if complete

certification is sought. No fee for this program.

Dates & Times:

Monday, 24 June—1:00-4:00 pm

Wednesday, 26 June—1:00-4:00 pm

Thursday, 27 June—12:30-4:30 pm

All classes will be held at the SKIES classroom,

10790 Chapel Drive.

Registration deadline is 13 June or until filled - Parents must call if youth cannot

make a class they are registered for -

if youth do not show up for classes, they will not be allowed to register again.

Kids in Motion $20 month Ages 2 & 3

Designed for toddlers to help them with coordination, motor development, follow-

ing directions, and playing with other children the same age. Program mixes activi-

ties that utilize music, dance, athletic skills and tumbling. Parents are required to

work with their children on the mats - please dress comfortably. There are no ac-

commodations for siblings, so please make other

arrangements for them.

Tuesdays, Time: 11:15-11:45 am; OR 3:15-3:45 pm

Registration deadline is the 28th of the current month for the

next month’s program.

All classes will be held at the Riva Ridge Center, 10799 N. Riva Ridge Loop.

Creative Learning Series $20 month

Many creative learning programs will be introduced here for different age youth.

Each quarter the program may be different—so check back each quarter!

Classes are held on Thursdays, from 5:30-7 pm.

April 11, 18 & 25 - Grossology, Ages 8-14; Register by 28 March.

A very gross and very fun science study!

May 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30—Building Zone, Ages 10-18; Register by 28 April.

Legos, Erector Sets, Contraptions and many more fun building stuff!

June 6, 13, 20 & 27—Creative Writing Fun, Ages 10-18: Reg by 28 May.

Play with stories, poetry, drawing, and art work in this fun class.

Gymnastics and Tumbling All classes are MONTHLY. Youth must be enrolled each month if they

wish to continue with classes. Classes to fill quickly, so enroll early.

Gymminy Crickets $35 month Ages 3-5

Parent/Tot class for ages 3-4. Parents will work with their children to help teach

them the fundamentals of tumbling while developing their coordination, strength,

agility, balance and self-confidence. Parents are required to work with their chil-

dren on the mats - please dress comfortably. There are no accommodations for sib-

lings, so please make other arrangements for them.

Enroll for a specific day and time each month.

Mondays - 5-5:30 pm

Tuesdays - 1:30-2 pm OR 2-2:30 pm

Wednesdays - 12:30-1, 1-1:30 pm

Gym Mites $35 month Ages 4-5

Preschool program for ages 4-5. This class lays the groundwork for gymnastics

progressions while introducing basic gymnastics skills on the floor and the balance

beam. Parent waiting area is available.

Enroll for a specific day and time each month.

Tuesdays - 1:00-1:30 pm; 2:30-3 pm; OR 5:00-5:30 pm

Wednesdays - 2:00-2:30 pm; 2:30-3:00 pm; OR 5-5:30 pm

Registration deadline for Gymminy Crickets and the Gym Mites is the 28th of the

current month for the next month’s programs.

Gymnastics $40 month Ages 5 & up Beginner gymnastics class for students entering into the sport. Students will learn

the basics in tumbling, vault, and balance beam. Crickets and Mites entering the

program will continue to progress and work on strength and form.

Parent waiting area is available.
