Traditional astrologers "make predictions." Often they are correct. But right orwrong, "predictions" turn you into a marionette, with the planets holding yourstrings. And in my opinion, that is not a very inspiring description of the way thecosmos works, nor a very accurate one. You are vastly more powerful than that. You can, to a great extent, shape your own life. That at least is my belief. Thefuture isn't crystallized. It's a wavering, quivering web of possibilities. How willthey manifest? Much depends upon how you wield the magical wild card we callyour freedom.

So, what's the use of astrology? In a nutshell, it can help you make betterchoices. The planets never give a definitive answer to the question "What willhappen to me?" Instead, they ask the question. But they ask the question in avery specific way: "Given everything you are, all the bridges you've crossed, allthe contracts you've signed, there are several possibilities for what you might donext..." In other words, "Here's the menu. What are you having?"

Question mark.

And the question mark is the most important part of the whole inquiry, because that's where the uncertainty -- and your freedom -- lies. But the planetsdo even more. They offer advice. In a sense, they recommend certain choicesover others. They seem biased toward your evolution. They often suggest thatyou take the less familiar path, the one that moves you into richer fields of yourown potentiality. The planets express this rather philosophical bias in a veryconcrete way. Typically, when you make a less energetic response to a planetaryquestion, the results, while initially comfortable, rapidly turn painful. Sometimesthe pain is immediate and dramatic, as in the collapse of an importantrelationship. Other times, it's more subtle, as in the degeneration of life intodeadening boredom and ritual. Either way, sooner or later we know you made awrong turn somewhere.

In the pages that follow, we will be exploring the coming months of your life

Page 4: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

from this planetary perspective. There are three parts to the report, and any or allof them may be included here, depending on which have been requested. First, the big questions. In the part of the report called THE INVITATION, we try to getthat "mountain-top" perspective that enables us to make sense of the details. InTHE MEANS, we turn our attention to some secondary factors that offersuggestions, help, and support in responding to those big questions. And finally,we'll look at the report period month-by-month, day-by-day, to get some ground-level insight into THE DETAILS. Your report may be for three, six, nine, or twelvemonths and may include any or all three sections just described. For this reason, and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than others, report length can vary quite a bit.

Throughout the following text, I'll be endeavoring to write in plain English, butif you're unfamiliar with the jargon of astrology, you'll encounter a few words thatmay require definition. A "transiting" planet, for example, refers to the actual, current position of that planet in the sky. Sometimes the transiting planets formcritical geometric angles with the "natal" planets in the birthchart, triggeringdevelopmental questions in your life. These critical angles are called "aspects."

The "progressed" planets function in much the same way as the transitingplanets, but we approach them a little differently. They're like a script that's beenbuilt into your birthchart. Just as we know that an oak tree will emerge from anacorn and bring forth its leaves in season, similarly each person's birthchartcontains within it the seeds of certain predictable developmental stages.Progressions spell out those stages.

So sit back, open your mind, and engage your heart. It's time to consider...

The Invitation

Some years loom large in our memories decades down the road; others areblurry, easily forgotten. That universal human reality is reflected in themovements of the planets -- astrologically speaking, one year is often far moresignificant than another, just as in life. Most of the really important celestialfactors move rather slowly; thus, it's not unusual to experience a time in which

Page 5: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

none of them have gone critical, when we can calmly keep on putting one footafter the other, on "cruise control."

Well, for you this is definitely not that kind of year. Something truly pivotal isoccurring...

Pr. Sun enters PiscesDate: Nov 9, 2004 - Continuing

Of all the changes the progressed Sun can make, arguably the mostfundamental is the change from one sign to another. To say this marks thebeginning of a new chapter in your life is too weak a statement -- a new "volume"of your life is a better metaphor. An entirely unprecedented set of motivationsand needs are arising inside you. Much that used to satisfy you will now pall; newgoals, aspirations, and experiences await you. We are all to some extentcreatures of habit, and that is the problem you are now invited to recognize andsolve. You are accustomed to thinking of yourself in certain ways, but many ofthose viewpoints, attitudes, and circumstances are no longer relevant to yourjourney. Can you hear the new inner voice? Can you turn a corner and releasethe hold of the past? These are the questions you face this year as youundertake this "mini-reincarnation."

The progressed Sun on Nov 9, 2004 leaves Aquarius and enters Pisces. Thedate is accurate, but a little misleading. Such a transition in fact unfolds over aperiod of two or three years. The old habits and patterns don't disappearmagically one morning, nor do the new impulses immediately find matureexpression. Recall that the progressed Sun takes thirty years to move througheach sign -- those habits have had a long while to sink deeply into your self-image, and the new patterns must necessarily emerge slowly.

As we've seen, the progressed Sun is now leaving Aquarius, which tells usthat underlying your overt biography is a hidden evolutionary agenda.Consciously or unconsciously, the universe has been set up to teach you thelessons of Aquarius. In fact, so many of the seemingly random factors of your lifehave been governed by this principle that you've grown adjusted to it, thinkingthat life must simply always be that way. Now it's changing. Each sign is areaction against the previous one, so these transitions tend to be dramatic. Let'sconsider where you've been, then have a look at where you're going. Aquarius isthe Rosetta stone for unlocking your past. Let's explore it.

Aquarius represents the process of individuation, which is a ten-dollar word

Page 6: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

for the simple idea of "being yourself." But that's easier said than done. We areall social creatures, eager to be respected, accepted, and approved of by others. There's nothing ultimately wrong with those motives either -- except that they canbamboozle you into modifying your behavior in overly "normal" or "conventional"directions. And that, in a nutshell, is why God made Aquarius: to help you escapethe stultifying hand of peer pressure and follow instead your own individual path. There's a subtlety here to which we must be alert: Don't necessarily equate theword "conventionality" with "middle-class values"...unless you are yourself atraditional, middle-class person. There are conventional ways to play almost anysocial role, from the "bohemian artist" to the "angry ghetto dweller" to the"decadent millionaire." None are wrong; but all are prefabricated roles, havingeverything to do with accidents of history and little to do with authentic, individualinner processes. During an Aquarian period you are coming into yourself, learning to express those inner processes. Often, as a direct result, you appearrather strange to those around you. Can you break the rules? Can you toleratemisunderstanding, mockery, and manipulative pressure? Can you pursueheartfelt interests, even when doing so leads others to call you flaky? Those arethe critical questions. Get them right and you'll enrich your life and empower yourown inner genius, even though you may lose some superficial friendships.

Your spirit has been immersed in those lessons for so long it's hard for you toimagine yourself any other way. But a transformation is unfolding. There is achanging of the tide regarding these "Hand of God" factors in your life. The oldlessons are now learned; new ones are arising. What is this fresh pattern? Whatare the new lessons, the new unifying factors, in the experiences that will shapethe next three decades of your existence? As we have seen, the progressed Sunis now entering Pisces.

Pisces represents release. Traditionally, it is the sign of the dreamer or thevisionary. Those are evocative images, because to experience dreams andvisions you must stop resisting, let go of control and all preconceptions, andallow a natural process to unfold. During a Piscean period, something is rising upfrom your psychic depths. You can't understand it and you can't force it. All youcan do is avoid getting in the way. Often people use religious or metaphysicallanguage to describe these Piscean developments in their lives. You mayexperience a sense of the presence of God, or find a renewal of faith.Extrasensory experiences are not uncommon during this phase: hunches, prophetic dreams, the locking of two minds. Perhaps you are drawn tomeditation, or to spiritual philosophy. Oracles may attract you: astrology, tarotcards, runestones. Or you may be drawn to psychics or spiritual teachers. Thekey lies in realizing that, in Pisces, the seeds of a vision are planted in you. Whatforms in the core of your being now is not a clear, articulate idea regarding yourfuture orientation; rather, it is a knot of emotion, of psychic energy -- an attitude.Cultivate it; this is the soil from which the rest of your life will spring.

Page 7: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

What we've considered above is the underpinning of this phase of your life. It'struly elemental material -- the stuff of which milestones are made. There's noguarantee that astrological forces of such magnitude will be activated foreveryone all the time. What follows is an analysis of some slightly less portentousdimensions of your astrological picture...less portentous, but still powerful enoughto qualify as part of this year's "Invitation."

Try to see what follows in the light of all that's gone before...

Tr. Saturn is Opposite PlutoIn effect: Oct 9, 2004 - Dec 7, 2004Peak Date(s): sometime after the report period.

The planet Saturn is currently casting a gray light on your circumstances --but is it the bleak gray of sorrow or the clear, comforting gray of wisdom anddigested experience? That's the choice. Saturn is classically viewed as the "bad"planet, the "Greater Malefic." Don't believe it! Used correctly, its transits can bringdignity and self-respect. Essentially, Saturn is about maturity. The part of your lifethat's being touched by the Saturnian energies needs to grow up...which, despitethe lies we're all told, is not a process one mysteriously completes on one'stwenty-first birthday. There is an area of your life where you have simplyoutgrown yourself, at least inwardly. The task now is to adjust your outwardcircumstances to reflect the maturity you've already attained psychically andinvisibly. It is a material problem, not fundamentally a psychological one. Tosucceed, there is first a need to face reality squarely, even if it's unsavory. Thento make a hard choice...that is, to reach an emotional bottom line and not becrippled by your awareness of the ambiguities in your situation. And finally, in aspirit of commitment, persistence, and self-discipline, to claim thosecircumstances in your life which reflect the hard inner work you've been doingover the last few years. That's Saturn in general. Specifically, Saturn is oppositeyour natal Pluto: sometime after the report period..

Let's start unraveling the symbolism by recognizing that the action anddevelopmental invitation are most evident in that part of your life we call theEighth House, for that's the region of your birthchart through which Saturn iscurrently passing. Typically, such an astrological event suggests a period ofmoody intensity as old hurt feelings come up for healing and regeneration. It isprobable that you have someone in your life now, be it a bed partner or a dearfriend, with whom you can speak frankly about difficult emotional topics...and cando so in the spirit of Saturn, as we just described it. Often the person is himself orherself of that same planetary nature, or is at least going through a time in which

Page 8: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

that kind of force is making itself felt. What is less certain is whether you will castpoliteness aside and actually broach the sensitive subjects. But what's the coreissue? What part of your own life is being affected by these unconscious biases? To answer that, we turn our attention to Pluto, which is being invited intodevelopment as these inner pressures mount.

Everyone has fears. Everyone has shames and wounded places. In you andme and everyone else, there are marks left by the times we've been lied to,abandoned, used, or exploited. It's not the world's cheeriest subject, but turningaway only empowers those Plutonian hurts, gives them more latitude to influenceyour life. When your natal Pluto is triggered by a passing transit or progression, dark shadows are stirred within you. It's a signal that forgotten, unprocessed, orrepressed elements of your personal history are asking to be investigated. Theprocedure requires intensity, honesty, and emotional courage. The results areworth the effort. If you work well with these energies, you emerge stronger, clearer, and often with renewed inspiration. If you hesitate, it's not unusual for theold wounding dramas to be re-enacted in your life.

Good things in general come your way when you make a positive response toPluto. But one area has always been prominent in that regard -- the SecondHouse, where Pluto lies in your birthchart. There, in the area of providing yourselfwith a real basis for self-confidence, the optimal use of that energy is mostcritical. Sometimes it comes down to seeing to it that you have enough money.Other times, provisions, proper tools, or even skills are the focus. Always the keyhere is to recognize the intimate link between personal resources and personalassurance.

When sober-minded Saturn gets involved with dark-hearted Pluto, you'll havelittle patience for fluffy, frilly superficiality. This is a serious moment, something ofa day of reckoning. Truths must be recognized and told. Lies must be illuminated, and demons named. You are ready. The situation is pressing. It will not go awayor improve of its own accord. Take responsibility, move decisively, and do whatmust be done.

The geometric angle or "aspect" involved in the process we are studying is,as we said, the opposition. Not surprisingly, this suggests that the natal planetand the moving one are 180 degrees apart. Tension is thus woven into the spiritof this period of your life. The two forces we described are polarized, which oftentranslates emotionally into a feeling of being damned if you do, and damned ifyou don't. How can you break the logjam? Recognize that any impossibilities youare experiencing in this area probably arise from an incomplete or biasedperspective. The opposition aspect always calls for a leap into a new, moreaccepting level of consciousness. Something is missing in your view of the

Page 9: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

problem -- and that missing link (here's the corker...) lies in the wisdom embodiedby those people or situations that are now antagonizing you. It's not that they'reright and you're wrong; only that the truth that can carry you beyond this impasselies somewhere between the two positions.

Tr. Pluto is Opposite MarsIn effect: Oct 25, 2004 - Dec 22, 2004Peak Date(s): Nov 25, 2004

The planet Pluto is shading the spirit of your life nowadays, and in a nutshellthat means that you are being challenged to heal. Pluto, as you probably know, isthe lord of the underworld...or to put it more succinctly, the God of Hell. And it isdisquieting, to say the least, to imagine that this deity is currently dining at yourtable. But take heart! The "hell" inside you needs airing out, and that isessentially what this transit is about. You've been hurt. You've been used, abused, rejected, exploited, lied to...the whole sad litany. And, like the rest of us,you've sometimes had to keep the proverbial stiff upper lip and simply get on withyour life. But where does all that hurt go? Down deep into the unconscious mind, where it stays until you're clear enough and strong enough to handle resurrectingit and really going beyond it. Pluto's action is to bring up buried emotions. Its toneis intense. It often feels moody and confrontative. It can destabilize and disruptthe areas of your life that it's touching. The best course is to resolve to go deeperand deeper, truth above kindness and resolution over comfort. It's not easy, butin the end the energizing and empowering of the psyche make the processworthwhile. What is Pluto actually doing? Currently it is opposite your natal Mars.Although Pluto is a slow-moving planet and usually unfolds its story over a periodof two or three years, during the period of this report the action peaks Nov 25,2004.

Let's first understand that the action is in the First House, for that's wherePluto is currently located in your chart. And what does that tell you? That thecircumstances driving your development, at least in terms of this particularconfiguration, have to do with the choices you make and how you presentyourself. Be assertive; take responsibility. You have considerable power in thissituation. To use it well, act in the spirit of Pluto, as we just described it. Butwhat's the issue? What part of your own life is at stake? To answer that question,we turn our attention to Mars, which is being invited into development during thisnew beginning in your life.

Sheer animal vitality -- that's Mars. In your natal chart, it represents yourboldness and your pluckiness: what gets your blood flowing. Or boiling. Allpassions are linked to Mars. Anger and your ability to defend your boundaries

Page 10: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

are part of the picture. So is your inner fire -- your enthusiasm, your intensity, your sexual desire. When triggered by a passing transit or progression, Marsoften signals a "go for it" situation developing in your life, but to make the best ofit, you'll need to be brave and assertive. Such transits or progressions can alsowarn you of upcoming battles, and in general it's wiser to seize the initiativerather than surrender your power to the whimsies of circumstance.

Maintaining a healthy flow of the energies of Mars, always good for you, isespecially crucial to your closest human relationships: marriage, profoundfriendship, long-term sexual bonds. Why? Because in Philadelphia, PA at themoment of your birth Mars occupied your Seventh House, the traditional "Houseof Marriage." Two lines of reasoning emerge here. The first is that by bringing theflavor of Mars into your intimate bonds, you shape love in a lasting, moremeaningful way for yourself. The second is that your natural partners arethemselves people with the spirit of Mars. Relating deeply to those whosenatures are too far removed from that tone and style is simply not your path. However we look at your situation, intimate connections are clearly a front-burnerissue right now.

When Mars connives with Pluto, you are lean, hungry, and ready to demandthat your legitimate needs be met. Your desires are clear; they may also beunsettling, uncomfortable, even a little shocking. But they are clear, and yourappetites are ravenous. The question is, what to do with them? There is a middlepath between sheer Machiavellian selfishness and shallow, sugary-sweet, truth-denying "goodness." Your task is to find it.

The two factors, as we mentioned, are linked by an opposition, whichsuggests some kind of tension or tug-of-war between them. You are asked toadjust your position, to adapt to the demands of the world around you, and to finda middle-ground between the various opposing needs and values.

Tr. Pluto is Square MidheavenIn effect: Nov 16, 2004 - continuingPeak Date(s): Dec 13, 2004

Pluto made an appearance earlier in this report, but now it has anothermessage for you. Always this planet signals the existence of some emotionalbaggage to be released, some hurtful or humiliating piece of your personalhistory that needs to be remembered or reconsidered. The alternative is typicallyto re-enact some old wounding drama. Pluto currently is square your natalMidheaven. The action peaks Dec 13, 2004.

Page 11: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

Let's first understand that the action is in the First House, for that's wherePluto is currently located in your chart. We've met this house before. As you mayremember, it has to do with the assertive choices you make and the confidencewith which you present yourself. Something is now occurring in which your ownaction -- or inaction -- is the pivotal variable. But what's the point? What are thereal questions? The answer lies with the Midheaven, which is being invited intodevelopment during this new beginning in your life.

Doctor, lawyer, Indian chief -- we all play some kind of role in our community.Sometimes you're paid for it; sometimes you do it for the principle of the matter. The public "hat" you wear is symbolized by the natal midheaven. Physically, it'sthe highest point in your birthchart, and it corresponds to the most outward, obvious dimensions of your life: your profession, your status, your social role. When it is stimulated by a transit or a progression, you are advised of someimpending evolution or revolution in your style of hat, so to speak. Much dependson the nature of the progressed or transiting planet, but certainly someadjustments must be made in your outward life to reflect more adequately thoseinner developments which have already taken place.

The aspect connected with the astrological process we're investigating here isthe square, as we have seen. The square, traditionally characterized as anunfortunate aspect, describes a geometric angle of 90 degrees between the natalplanet and the moving trigger. To call squares "bad" is misleading. Moreaccurately, they are compelling. In the area of your life we're considering, aterrific friction has arisen. It's not comfortable, but it is an extremely effectivemotivator. The trick in using the energy creatively lies in moving decisively --determining precisely what you want, claiming it, and letting the rest go. Aseason of tough choices is upon you. Regarding the process we described in theprevious paragraphs, there are costs involved in all the courses available toyou...the most costly, for all concerned, being the course of indecision.

Tr. Pluto is Square NeptuneIn effect: Nov 26, 2004 - continuingPeak Date(s): Dec 23, 2004

Pluto currently is square your natalNeptune. The action peaks Dec 23, 2004.

Page 12: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

The answer lies with Neptune, which is being invited intodevelopment during this new beginning in your life.

Close your eyes. Don't think of anything at all. Just be aware of all thatinfinite, dark space. Welcome to Neptune. In your natal chart, it represents thepart of you that knows how to enter trance, to meditate, or to "space out."Everybody's got one, and everybody experiences that part of their consciousnessfrom time to time. When triggered by transits or progressions, Neptune asks youto let go, to allow material to enter your mind uncensored and unstructured. It'smore akin to feeling than thinking, but neither word captures it perfectly.Dreaming is the closest analogy...a sort of free-associative state in which yourown mind works like an unpredictable movie theater. Why bother? Because suchan astrological event signals that your unconscious mind or, if you prefer, yoursoul has an important message and is trying to get in touch with you.

In what way do those notions connect with your present circumstances?Understand that Neptune occupies the Tenth House of your natal chart, an areawhich refers to issues of career, status, and your public role...concerns which arecurrently undergoing considerable developmental pressure and change. Allpositive steps in terms of profession or your place in the community hold onepoint in common: they move you further and further in the direction of Neptune,as we just described it. Any work that will prove enduringly satisfying invokes theconsiderable energies of Neptune in you; any work that does not embody themwill turn out to be transitory or deadening.

When wide-open Neptune merges with the piercing perspectives of Pluto, youenter a long period of philosophical rumination. That may sound rather pale, butin fact the nature of your belief-system is probably the greatest singledeterminant of the shape of your life. And yours is up for review. The aim lies inestablishing a balance between hard psychological honesty on one hand and thehuman need for inspiration and faith on the other.

The two factors, as we mentioned, are linked by a square -- traditionally seenas a "bad" aspect, but more accurately seen as simply frictional. Squaresgenerally suggest tough choices, external pressures, and at least some stress.

Tr. Jupiter aligns with the Eleventh House cusp

Page 13: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

Date: Dec 26, 2004 - Continuing

The planet Jupiter is currently coloring your circumstances. Before we sayexactly how, let's attempt to understand the more general significance of anyJupiter event. Essentially, this is a call to recognize an opportunity. Traditionalastrologers view it more starkly -- to them, it is simply the planet of luck. And thatis often the case: the toast does tend to land butter-side up when Jupiter iscrossing sensitive territories. But the real, evolutionary meaning lies deeper. Onekey is that Jupiter is future-oriented...it is concerned with bright, unexploredpossibilities. Stripped to its bones, Jupiter always asks one primary question:how have you been underestimating yourself? Its transits signal a time when newopportunities come into existence, but to seize them you must recognize that youdeserve them, that you are capable of rising to them, and that old deals andcompromises are finished. Trust yourself, have faith in life, and go for it: that's thespirit of Jupiter. How is it affecting you? Jupiter is conjunct your natal EleventhHouse cusp: Dec 26, 2004.

Setting priorities -- that's the core of the Eleventh House process. Where doyou go from here? What do you really want? A paradox lies at the heart of thisphase of your journey. You've accomplished a lot...in many ways you're in anenviable position, harvesting the fruits of long effort. But there's a sense ofanticlimax woven into your accomplishments. The truth of it is that your dreamsare coming true -- but they are old, burned-out dreams from long ago. You arerunning on momentum from the past, and that's nothing to be ashamed of.However, with Jupiter entering this part of the chart, you are now invited to host astrategy-session with yourself.

Behind the well-oiled machinery of your life, behind the web of socialrelationships and responsibilities you've woven, there is a basic sense ofdirectionlessness, rendered invisible to others by the successful, energeticappearance of your life. Outwardly, the old answers still work fine, but the truth isthey don't satisfy you any more. You've outgrown them. Can you seize thechance to make a quantum leap? Can you take the initiative and claim a newlevel of creativity, of public respect, of visionary inspiration and leadership?

Those are the questions woven into the foundation of your currentcircumstances. To answer them in a positive, sustainable, life-enhancing wayyou need to figure out exactly what you want...and the answer lies right in thecrosshairs of Jupiter, as we just described it. Tremendous physical and creativeenergies are available to you, along with a wide array of resources and usefulalliances...if only you'll tap into the main line of conscious, self-aware choice inthe spirit of Jupiter. It boils down to one eternal truth: to get what you want, youmust know what you want.

Tr. Saturn is Conjunct MercuryIn effect: Dec 28, 2004 - continuingPeak Date(s): sometime after the report period.

Saturn played a role earlier in this account. Now it emerges again, in a newway. To refresh your memory, Saturn is ultimately the planet of maturity. Italways places a strong emphasis upon hard work, decisive choices, andpersistence. Saturn currently is conjunct your natal Mercury. The energies crestsometime after the report period..

Let's start unraveling the symbolism by first understanding that the action andthe developmental invitation are most evident in the part of your life we call theEighth House -- a familiar territory, since it figured earlier in our analysis. Again itdemands our attention, for Saturn is currently passing through it. Moody intensitydominates as old emotional injuries come up for review and rehabilitation --processes inseparable from an intimate dialog with a certain person with whomyou can speak frankly about difficult topics, and can do so in the spirit of Saturn, which we just described. But what's being triggered most deeply inside you? Theanswer lies with Mercury, which is being invited into development during thisseason of probing psychological exploration and shared emotional risk.

Your quickness, your alertness, your curiosity -- those are the dimensions ofyour life dominated by the planet Mercury. To say that Mercury represents yourintelligence is quite accurate, but it's more connected to the natural style of yourintelligence: not so much how smart you are as what interests you, and how yourintelligence can be employed most pleasurably and efficiently. Intimately linked tosuch cerebral concerns is the question of your ability to communicate, sinceideally there is some relationship between speech and forethought. ThusMercury, the traditional Messenger of the Gods, is associated with both thoughtand conversation. When stimulated by a passing transit or progression, Mercurytends to speed up the flow of data in your life. You learn. You listen. You speak.Often events move at a hasty pace, and there's a feeling of excitement mixedwith over-extension.

Bolstering the energies of Mercury, never a bad idea, is particularly essentialnow, for Mercury lies in your Eighth House, the traditional "House of Death."Mortality itself is usually not the issue; more accurately, the question here lieswith all the fears with which you live and all the hurts and distortions the past hasvisited upon you. All of us sit on emotional volcanos. You, too. Now the time hascome to look more closely at some uncomfortable memories...perhaps to sharethem with someone you trust implicitly. Take the spirit and attitude of Mercury, aswe just described it. That mood will carry you most deeply and efficiently into the

Page 15: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

unsettling material at hand.

When Mercury mingles with Saturn, a thoughtful, reflective perspective entersthe mind. This is a season of earnest study, of necessary but often ratherplodding kinds of work. A precise, careful, conservative approach generallyproduces the best results. And, present cultural mythology aside, the cultivationof a degree of calculated pessimism often helps one evade costly blunders asthese two planets interact.

As we mentioned, the aspect involved in the event we just described is theconjunction, which refers to a precise alignment between the natal planet and themoving trigger. Thus, the process emphasizes fusion, integration, and synthesis.Of all the possible aspects, the conjunction is the most intense. The explosionrattles your outward circumstances; but it originates inside you, and puts you inthe driver's seat. It is appropriate for you to claim some new level of power, ofself-expression, and of autonomy. If you don't, no one will do it for you; and theopportunity will evaporate.

The Means

If you happen to have a cold on the day you win the lottery, will that taint yourmemory of the big event? Probably not. Ten years later, you will have forgottenyour runny nose. Ten minutes later, more likely.

Life and memory work that way. We prioritize certain kinds of events, experiencing them more vividly and remembering them far longer than the trivialand the predictable. The details of a typical Monday morning aren't going to lastas long in the memory banks as images of your moment of glory or your darkesthour.

In exactly the same way, not all astrological events have the same impact. What we have considered so far are all first-string milestones in your life. Therest of what we'll be considering is less central -- but that's not to sayunimportant. What follows is a set of supplementary transits and progressions, presented chronologically. They're not quite as profound in their implications as

Page 16: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

what we've seen, but they're not without emotional and existential consequences. If what we have explored in the previous pages can be viewed as an evolutionaryinvitation, then, to that lofty end, what follows is....

"The Means"

As you'll see, each of these events stands as significant in its own right. Buttheir deepest meanings lie in the way they interact with what we've considered inthe pages above, enhancing and sometimes complicating the broaderdevelopmental patterns.

Cards on the table: you can skim the next several pages and, I think, learnsome things about the coming months that will prove prophetic...and moreimportantly, helpful. But the real magic lies in putting all the pieces together, synthesizing them in your heart into an emotional whole -- just like you've donewith, say, memories of a special summer long ago. No computer can do that foryou.

Your own creativity, your own reflections on the material we're covering, yourown translations, additions, corrections, amendments, and meditations -- theseare what make the difference.

Let's continue.

Tr. Jupiter is Square VenusIn effect: Oct 4, 2004 - Oct 13, 2004Peak Date(s): Oct 9, 2004

Jupiter figured earlier in this analysis. Now we meet it again. As you mayrecall, this is the planet of possibilities and the seizing of opportunities. Jupitercurrently is square your natal Venus. The action peaks Oct 9, 2004.

Currently Jupiter is steering a course through your Tenth House. That's thetraditional "House of Career," and any planet passing through that part of yournatal chart suggests that external developmental pressures are now arisingwhich have the effect of modifying your place in the world. Something is brewingin your profession or vocation, or in your social status -- the way you look topeople who don't really know you very well. What is it? We can't say exactly, butto respond optimally to the potentials and challenges built into this event, you'llneed to act according to the spirit of Jupiter, as we just described it. But what'sthe core issue? What part of your own life is at stake? To answer that, we turn

Page 17: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

our attention to Venus, which is being invited into development by theseprofessional or social openings.

Venus is the goddess of love, of peace, and of the arts. In each domain, balance is the ideal. Deep in your psyche, there is a place that seeks the comfortof balance and equilibrium, whether through shared fondness with anotherhuman being, an hour's peace in the garden, or the rapture that sometimesarises as we immerse our hearts and minds in something beautiful. That innercircuit is your natal Venus. When it is stimulated, we often see experiencesarising which prophesy a change in your relationships, in what gives youserenity, or in your aesthetic experiences.

Your Eighth House engaged us previously in the report. Now we see itprovoked again, indicating that your attitude toward the circumstances we'reconsidering reflects a fundamental distortion. It has to do with your ownpsychological scar-tissue, and it biases your thinking in the direction of Venus, aswe just described it. Follow your moods down into the labyrinths of your psyche;pay attention to your dreams, your fantasies, and your unspoken hungers. Andspeak nakedly and truly with someone of the nature of Venus, who will help youclarify your own real needs.

When Venusian energies splice together with Jupiterian ones, opportunity(Jupiter) comes to you through other people (Venus). Sometimes what we mightcall "dumb luck" makes itself felt, but it doesn't hurt to help it along byunderstanding the planetary "rules of the game." Basically, they boil down to this:you've got to ask for what you want, you've got to know that you deserve it, andyou've got to look that way...which is to say, there's no room for being apologetic, ashamed, or defensive.

The two factors, as we mentioned, are linked by a square -- traditionally seenas a "bad" aspect, but more accurately seen as simply frictional. Squaresgenerally suggest tough choices, external pressures, and at least some stress.

Currently Jupiter is navigating your Tenth House. That's the traditional "Houseof Career," as we've already discovered, and it tells us that something of thenature of Jupiter is brewing in your profession or vocation, or in your socialstatus. To respond optimally to the potentials and challenges built into this event, you'll need to act according to the spirit of Jupiter, as we just described it. Beingtrue to yourself is the challenge, as is generally the case in life. But your publiclife, with all its superficialities and practical pressures, is perhaps the hardestplace in which to live up to that ideal. To succeed here, pay special attention tothe Ascendant, which is being invited into development during this time ofprofessional or public reorientation.

Like the rest of us, you are a complicated, paradoxical individual, full ofcontradictions and undercurrents. That's human. But another part of beinghuman is that, like the rest of us, you need to get out of bed in the morning andput on a streamlined, simplified social mask that allows you to function in thesocial beehive. There's no way that you can have a truly intimate relationshipwith every face you see in your daily life, nor would you likely want suchconnections. So we all keep much of what we really are behind our astrologicalAscendant, which symbolizes that mask. Physically, it is simply the sign that wasdawning in the east at the instant of your birth...and symbolically it representshow you "dawn" on people who don't know you very well. When triggered by apassing transit or progression, the Ascendant signals the need to make someadjustments in the way you present yourself in the social world, so that yourouter appearance remains reasonably aligned with who you have becomeinwardly. The work is superficial; which is not to say unimportant. Often it has todo with changing how you hold your body, the way you speak, and the clothesyou wear.

The aspect pervading the event we've just considered is, as we observed, asextile. Technically, that refers to a geometric angle of 60 degrees between thenatal planet and the moving one. Sextiles are traditionally viewed as "good"aspects. Certainly, they're exciting. There is a mood of eagerness regarding theprocess we're exploring here -- and that's glorious, provided you're wary of theexcessive impulsiveness that sextiles sometimes breed. In any case, thespinning wheel of circumstances can be counted on to provide some fortuitous, unexpected opportunities for you during this period. You'll have to be quick toseize them, though. They're real, but they're short-lived.

Hope and faith are essential to sanity. Without at least a few bright dreamsand expansive goals, a person grows flat and dull...becomes a time-server. Thesame can be said for self-confidence: we need it. And even if such assurancesometimes crosses the line into a sprinkle of arrogance, that's less troubling andlimiting than sitting around afraid to take any risks at all. There is a gambler'scircuit in your psyche that understands these notions perfectly well. Astrologerscall it Jupiter. When stimulated by a passing transit or progression, it encouragesyou to extend yourself further into your world, to bet on yourself, and to recognizeemerging opportunities. Be wary at the same time that you don't settle for glitterwhen gold may be just around the corner.

When Jupiter interacts with its own natal position, as we see here, speculation and possibility arise. There is something available to you now whichwas not available before. It comes at least partly as a gift, or as what the worldwould call "blind luck." In fact, a more subtle law is in operation here: you'vecrafted a position of opportunity for yourself over the years. Now is the time toharvest it.

Tr. Uranus is Trine VenusIn effect: in progress - continuingPeak Date(s): Oct 20, 2004; Dec 3, 2004

The planet Uranus is presently stirring the pot of your life, and that alwayspromises a tumultuous passage, peppered with unexpected developments andencounters. Outwardly, Uranus is the wild card, bringing unpredictable andunforeseen events into the picture. Inwardly, it signals a time of acceleratedindividuation...that is, a time in which who you really are and what you truly wantare rapidly emerging and defining themselves. A portion of what you imagined tobe your identity has, in fact, little to do with you; it is a side-effect of your socialtraining, nothing more. And, like training wheels on a kid's bike, you are nowready to dump it. This has an unsettling effect upon not only yourself, but alsothose around you. Often during Uranian periods there is a distinct "changing ofthe guard" in our social circles; old relationships end, new ones appear. Claimyour right to be yourself -- that's the essence of the transiting Uranus. Whatever ittouches, changes. Trust the changes! Like a hard wind blowing the sand off aburied city, they are revealing who you actually have been all along. That'sUranus in general. Specifically, Uranus is trine your natal Venus: Oct 20, 2004;Dec 3, 2004.

Let's first consider that the action and the developmental pressures are rootedin the Third House, for that's where Uranus is currently located in your chart. Andwhat does that mean? That new information is coming your way, and that it maybe somewhat shocking, unexpected, or at least fresh. It will modify your plansand make you aware of new possibilities. The news may come to you throughany of the media or through a messenger, either of which may possess the toneof Uranus, as we just described it. But what's the issue? What part of your ownlife is scheduled to be impacted most strongly by this new data? To answer that,we turn our attention to Venus, which is being invited into development by thisflood of input.

The natal Venus -- that, as we have seen, is where you store your romanticand affiliative sensibilities, along with your aesthetic tastes.

Your Eighth House engaged us previously in the report. Now we see itprovoked again, indicating that your attitude toward the circumstances we'reconsidering reflects a fundamental distortion. It has to do with your ownpsychological scar-tissue, and it biases your thinking in the direction of Venus, as

Page 21: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

we just described it. Follow your moods down into the labyrinths of your psyche;pay attention to your dreams, your fantasies, and your unspoken hungers. Andspeak nakedly and truly with someone of the nature of Venus, who will help youclarify your own real needs.

When Venusian energies unite with Uranian ones, the unexpected (Uranus)makes itself felt in the intimate sphere (Venus). Improbable encounters occur.Warp-speed evolutions unfold in love, friendship, and working relationships.Behind the fireworks, what is happening is that you are rapidly disentangling yourreal essence from your polite, conventional, socially-programmed "personality."When that happens, inevitably all interpersonal contracts come up for review.

As we said, the aspect involved in the event we just described is the trine, which refers to a 120 degree angle between the natal planet and the moving one.Trines are traditionally viewed as positive aspects, and in fact they generally docorrelate with opportunities. Additionally, their existence implies that support isavailable to you, if you are willing to move to claim it. And therein lies the rub withthe so-called "good" aspects. They're not very dynamic. Just as pain is a morepowerful motivator than contentment, the trick with trines lies in taking advantageof them before the wheel turns and their potential vanishes. With regard to thedevelopments we described in the previous few paragraphs: a door is now open,a red carpet rolled out...but don't count on everything remaining that way forever.

Page 22: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

There's a wild card in everyone, a rebellious, independent, free-spirited forcethat hates neckties and phony courtesies and all the slick moves that keepcorporations and families from splitting apart. Astrologers call it Uranus. Strippedto its essence, this part of your astrological psyche is concerned primarily withthe process of individuation, which boils down to whittling away all the parts ofyourself which have arisen almost accidentally as side effects of your socialbackground. When stimulated by transits or progressions, Uranus triggers yourrebellions. It asks you to shed something unauthentic, unreal, or limiting in yourlife. Often it brings lightning-quick developments and unexpected circumstances.Almost always, there is a confrontation between you and some figure ofauthority, past or present.

Your Seventh House occupied our thoughts earlier in these pages; now wesee it triggered again, suggesting that at the center of the circumstances we'reconsidering there exists a fundamental inter-dependency: what you must do, youcannot do alone. A pair of ideas figure here: The first is that by emphasizing thespirit of Uranus in your closest relationships, you improve them. The second isthat your natural partners are themselves people of the nature of Uranus, andthat should help you recognize them.

When Jupiter interacts with Uranus, unanticipated opportunities arise. It's asthough the Cosmos manifests as Santa Claus; gifts are given to you, oftencompletely "out of the blue." Accept them. The psycho-spiritual theme here lies inloving yourself enough to embrace abundance, and many times the test comesand passes so quickly that success depends more upon reflexive self-confidencethan upon any philosophical "position papers" about self-esteem.

The two factors, as we mentioned, are linked by a trine -- traditionally seen asa "good" aspect, but more accurately seen as simply enhancing or supportive.Generally speaking, with trines there is an opportunity...but to seize it, you mustsupply the initiative.

You don't need to be an astrologer to know what the Moon means. Justengage your imagination. Immediately, the mind free-associates. Moon:night...feelings...falling in love...seeing a ghost... And that's pretty much whatastrologers throughout history have said: the Moon represents your interior life, your "heart." Like all astrological factors, the Moon progresses, taking a little overa quarter of a century to make one circuit around the chart. It typically spends a

Page 23: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

couple of years in each sign or house, and eventually forms aspects with all theplanets. How do we read it? Simple: at any given moment the progressed Moontells us where your heart is. Or, to be a little less schmaltzy about it, the Moonsays where your attention is. What is concerning you. Where your growthexperiences are unfolding -- which is often to say where you're experiencingchallenges, upsets, or opportunities to regroup and express yourself in newways. Being an emotional factor, the progressed Moon always refers to areas ofheightened sensitivity. Intuition comes to the forefront. Instincts must be followed.Somehow the unconscious mind has gotten ahead of conscious awareness, andnow conscious awareness is catching up, following the trail of intuitive clues andimpulses laid down by the wise, dark interior of your spirit.

Let's start unraveling the symbolism by recognizing that the action anddevelopmental invitation are most evident in that part of your life we call theEighth House, for that's the region of your birthchart through which the Moon iscurrently passing. Typically, such an astrological event suggests a period ofmoody intensity as old hurt feelings come up for healing and regeneration. It isprobable that you have someone in your life now, be it a bed partner or a dearfriend, with whom you can speak frankly about difficult emotional topics...and cando so in the spirit of the Moon, as we just described it. Often the person is himselfor herself of that same planetary nature, or is at least going through a time inwhich that kind of force is making itself felt. What is less certain is whether youwill cast politeness aside and actually broach the sensitive subjects. But what'sthe core issue? What part of your own life is being affected by these unconsciousbiases? To answer that, we turn our attention to the Sun, which is being invitedinto development as these inner pressures mount.

How is the progressed Moon currently impacting on you? It is conjunct yournatal Sun: Dec 13, 2004. In thinking about this, remember that progressions areslow-motion events, and that this event simply peaks then; it will be affecting yourmood for a period of two or three months on either side of that date.

The Sun, as astronomers tell us, is the center of the solar system. Everythingspins around it. With its enormous gravity, the Sun holds the entire systemtogether. In a parallel way, the astrological Sun represents the gravitationalcenter of your personality. Your ego. Your identity. The part of you that gets up inthe morning and, without even a single sip of coffee, knows its name, rank, andserial number. Those same astronomers inform us that without the Sun's radiantenergy, life as we understand it would cease to exist. Again, astrological meaningfollows astronomical fact: the Sun symbolizes that spark of life inside you, yourelemental vitality. Enthusiasm, energy, recuperative powers -- all these are solarthemes. Thus, when the natal Sun is triggered in an important way, two criticalquestions come up for review: who are you, and what really makes you want toget out of bed in the morning?

Page 24: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

When the Sun interacts with the Moon, your "head" and your "heart" areexperiencing some complications in their relationship. The key to a peacefulresolution of the issue lies in each being heard and each being willing to bend alittle. Your lunar need for self-nurture must be balanced with your solarresponsibilities and sense of destiny. Your hardheaded reasonableness must beopen to the "trans-rational" side of life, where happiness really lies. Compromiseand balance are the essence of such an event.

The two factors, as we mentioned, are linked by a conjunction -- the mostpowerful of the geometric aspects and one that suggests convergence, intensification, and often a new beginning.

It may just come to you; but if not, then don't be shyabout asking for it...and one of the best ways to do that is to insist upon a victory, the more colorful the better. The good news is that under this kind of astrologicalconfiguration, such a victory is in fact quite available to you now.

Getting kicked out of the nest, one way or another, is an elemental part of life.Faced with the stark, unyielding actualities of the "real world," you either die thenand there or get on with the cunning, calculating business of staying alive. Toaccomplish either of those ends, you activate the energies of your natal Saturn:your self-discipline, your patience, and your practicality...if you choose survival. And if you choose to give up, you withdraw into fear and probably get into amood of despair and defeat. When Saturn is triggered by passing transits orprogressions, it signals a time in which hard work is appropriate, necessary, andthe best insurance for happiness. Often it suggests that the circumstances oreven people who have been a significant part of your past must now be leftbehind, making way for a more mature expression of your identity.

Your Tenth House came up earlier; now we see it in the spotlight again, oncemore informing us that the deepest, most essential factors in the situation we'reconsidering all revolve around your role in the world -- your profession or job, your political (or metapolitical!) activities...in general, the image that strangershave of you. And what do right choices look like here? A large part of the answerlies with Saturn, a planet we described above, whose basic nature and valuesunderlie what we might call your "Cosmic Job Description."

When Jupiter interacts with Saturn, you experience an odd confluence ofprovidential fortune (Jupiter) and daunting impediments (Saturn). Essentially, something very good is available to you now, but to attain it you must undertakea herculean effort. More profoundly, that effort itself will crystallize a very specifictransformation in you: it will grant you the dignity of your advancing maturity.

A large part of the answerlies with Saturn, a planet we described above, whose basic nature and valuesunderlie what we might call your "Cosmic Job Description."

When the Moon interacts with Saturn, the mood of life turns serious and quiet.Sadness, loneliness, and pessimism can arise, but they are not necessary.Essentially, this is a season of clear seeing in emotional matters. It calls forsober, realistic thinking and a willingness to be strong enough to call a spade aspade...even you'd prefer diamonds or hearts.

The two factors, as we mentioned, are linked by a square -- traditionally seenas a "bad" aspect, but more accurately seen as simply frictional. Squaresgenerally suggest tough choices, external pressures, and at least some stress.

Tr. Neptune is Trine SaturnIn effect: Dec 30, 2004 - continuingPeak Date(s): sometime after the report period.

The planet Neptune is presently tinting and shading your biography, addingits dreamlike quality to the existential stew. Close your eyes; there's a world inthere. That's Neptune, the planet of consciousness itself. Now open your eyes. There's a world out there too, and it's hard to ignore it. In fact, the outer world hasbecome so pressing in its demands that you've partly lost contact with the innerone. But Neptune, transiting through sensitive territories for you now, is fixingthat. Your inner world is so full it's brimming over, overflowing its banks into yourdaily life. If you resist the process, you'll find a host of Neptune problemsplaguing you: losing the car keys, forgetting to pay the electric bill, having theattention span of a three-year-old on a sugar jag. But there's an alternative: trustthe process. Slow down. Meditate. Let the images come. Moult opinions. Breathein, breathe out. Why? Because your unconscious mind has a message for you. Ithas to do with the possibility of happiness for you over the next few years, abouthow old sources of joy are drying up and -- critically -- about new ones you mustlearn to recognize. How do you receive the message? You stop resisting. Yousimply let it in. That's Neptune in the broad sense. How is it effecting youspecifically? Neptune is trine your natal Saturn: sometime after the report period..

Let's first consider that the action is in the Third House, for that's whereNeptune is currently located in your chart. This is familiar territory. Newinformation is coming your way. It may be somewhat startling or unanticipated, and it will most likely come to you through a messenger whose nature or mood isin accord with the tone of Neptune, as we just described it. But what are the corequestions? What part of you is most profoundly impacted by this newknowledge? The answer lies with Saturn, which is being invited into developmentduring this information-intensive period in your life.

The natal Saturn -- that, as we have seen, symbolizes your capacity for self-discipline and patience. Generally, it marks an area where you will be challengedto achieve excellence...or tempted to give up and sink into sorrow and self-pity.

When hard-headed Saturn is stirred into the same pot with visionary Neptune,a season of brain-storming has arrived. A happy confluence now exists betweencreative imagination and shrewd practicality. Keeping them in balance is the art. You'll have some great ideas -- but not as great as they may at first seem. And

Page 29: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

you'll also see some formidable obstacles -- but not as insurmountable as youmay fear. There is a middle course between optimism and pessimism. It's calledvisionary realism. Practice it!

The two factors, as we mentioned, are linked by a trine -- traditionally seen asa "good" aspect, but more accurately seen as simply enhancing or supportive.Generally speaking, with trines there is an opportunity...but to seize it, you mustsupply the initiative.

The Details

In the mood for Mardi Gras? If you live in Chicago, it helps to know that NewOrleans lies to the south. Head west or east and you'll never arrive . . .

What we've done in the previous pages is to show you the direction to NewOrleans. We've looked at the big astrological themes that are affecting you thisyear . . .

As a reminder, at the beginning of our analysis of each month's events we'llmake reference to any major configurations covered previously which happen tobe reaching peaks of intensity then -- and please recall that some of them willhave more than a single peak during the report period. There won't be any moreanalysis; just an allusion to the events so you can go back and review the earliermaterial, and see the patterns of the month in the light of the year's heaviertransits and progressions.

Please remember that the fleeting, often forgettable influences we discuss inthe following pages must always draw their real meaning from the far moremonumental events we've already described. A "discussion with the boss," forexample, is going to take on particular significance during a month when yourwhole career is up for grabs!

These minor transits unfold quickly. It's a rare week that doesn't contain atleast a few. A report that discussed them all in the kind of microscopic detailwe've applied to the major events would be several inches thick. In order to coverthe daily astrological kaleidoscope within the practical limitations of the space

Page 30: Sky Log - Cardinal Star · PDF fileSky Log Astrological Report for U. S. A. ... and because some years in your life are astrologically more active than ... and that is the problem

available, we've resorted to producing capsulized one-sentence nuggets thatcompress a lot of information into a few words. So, slow down, shift gears, andlet them wash over you. Think of these images more as daily meditations than asthe kind of full-blown explanations to which you've gotten accustomed in theprevious sections of SKYLOG.

One brief reminder: remember that many astrological events have not one butseveral peaks of intensity, so you may find a given "Invitation" or "Means" comingup several times in the pages that follow.

Even minor astrological events commonly have an impact over several days.In the following month-by-month analysis, configurations are listedchronologically according to the days they "peak" -- but don't take that datenarrowly. The most colorful events and profoundest realizations might easilyoccur a day or two later or earlier.

Oct 15, 2004 at 09:08 AM - Tr. Moon enters Twelfth House

The Moon in a month passes through all twelve houses of your chart. In sodoing, it correlates with the passing whimsies of mood. One afternoon you'rebright and cheery, the following morning you're blue...but energetic again afterlunch. It doesn't amount to much, and it's not really very important in practicalterms -- with one exception: the passage of the Moon through the Twelfth House.During that time you are going through a kind of emotional moulting, ending onecycle and preparing to begin another. Your attentions and energies are turnedinward. Accept that, handle it well, and the period -- usually a couple of days -- isquiet and contemplative. It may even be rather pleasant. But if you try to keep upyour normal level of activity, you'll find yourself confused, flat, and prone to dumbaccidents. So when the Moon enters your Twelfth House, make sure that youhave some unstructured time. Minimize distractions. Put off any significant newbeginnings for a couple of days. And take a few unhurried breaths. This month, the transiting Moon crosses into your natal Twelfth House Oct 15, 2004 at 09:08AM, and emerges Oct 17, 2004 at 02:20 AM, when a new emotional cyclebegins.

Venus: Goddess of Love, Goddess of Peace...in her fast transits around yourchart, she offers you counsel and support, sometimes through friendship, sometimes through more romantic kinds of intimacy. Nov 27, 2004 - Tr. Sun conjuncts Ascendant

The transiting Sun is like a huge, dumb battery. Whatever it touches, itelectrifies -- but never for very long or very deeply. That's simply because it's afast-moving factor, never staying anywhere long enough to develop true depth orcomplexity of meaning. In a year, it circuits the chart once...which leaves it only afew days to spend in each of your chart's many sensitive zones. Whatever ittouches, however, is temporarily pushed into action. And sometimes, if moreserious astro-psychological energies have been building or brewing in that areaof your life, the Sun's transit over that point might just be the trigger that sets bigwheels turning. The critical point is that the Sun represents your ego, and when itcollides with sensitive territories you need to act accordingly: not "egocentrically,"but with an awareness of your rights, your needs, and your desires.

Sun arrives at a conjunction with your Ascendent Nov 27, 2004, and thatalways suggests a colorful, active few days. A new cycle of experience is

beginning for you. It's not earth-shaking in its implications, but you'll be happier ifyou act positively in the spirit of Sun. The ball is in your court. Decisive action, imprudent action, or inaction on your part now will have long-term effects, just asthe experiences of childhood leave their mark on the adult character. Don't beafraid of a little apparent selfishness now. There are seasons of giving andseasons of taking; this one is for taking.

Nov 30, 2004 at 08:09 AM - Mercury turns Retrograde

Three, maybe four times in the course of a year, the planet Mercury spendsthree weeks or so going backwards in the sky, a period we call MercuryRetrograde. Practicality sometimes intervenes, but to the extent that you canarrange it, you are better off if you can avoid signing anything important duringthis period, buying anything mechanical (unless its failure would be of trivialconsequence), initiating travel, or attempting significant communications byphone or mail. This, of course, is a lot to ask; and sticking to it too firmly starts toverge on Cosmic Paranoia. Still, there is a heightened tendency for objects, messages, and plans to go awry during this Retrograde time. Sometimes a littlepatience exercised now will make your life a lot easier in the long run. If stepssimply must be taken, it doesn't mean everything is doomed to failure...just keepduplicates, have backups, double-check everything, and be prepared for pettyannoyances. The first appearance of a Retrograde Mercury during the period ofthis report occurs Nov 30, 2004 at 08:09 AM. Those conditions persist untilMercury again goes "Direct" sometime after the report period..
