Bawa House at 33rd LaneThe house in 33rd Lane is an essay inarchitectural bricollage. In 1958 Bawabought the third in a row of four smallhouses which lay along a short cul-de-sacat the end of a narrow suburban laneand converted it into a pied-à-terre withliving room, bedroom, tiny kitchen androom for a servant.

SigiriyaAn ancient rock fortress located in thenorthern Matale District near the townof Dambulla in the Central Province.Being one of the Wonders of the World,houses gardens and a palace.

DambullaThis is a World Heritage Site, is thelargest and best preserved cave templecomplex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers160 m over the surroundingplains.There are more than 80documented caves in the surroundingarea. Major attractions are spread overfive caves, which contain statues andpaintings.

KandalamaThe Kandalama Hotel is considered oneof Bawa's most important works as itshowcases so clearly Bawa's talent forcreating affective spatial sequences andarchitectural narrative. The hotel wasintended to serve as a building fromwhich to view the pristine landscape ofthe Kandalama basin, and thus thelightness of the architecturalarticulation is an appropriate andsuccessful design strategy.
