SlideMaker Online User Guide

Overview of SlideMaker Online SlideMaker Online is the 2nd generation of the well known SlideMaker tool to generate sales tools for use with PROSPECTS. It brings together data from multiple sources to present to a prospect in a clear concise format on a single page.

• Map & Statistics for SolidWorks customers - Locally • Statistics for SolidWorks customers – in Country • Names of SolidWorks Customers – in Parent Group • Names of SolidWorks Customers – in similar activity area • Statistics for SolidWorks customers – in similar industry sector • Statistics for Competitor Migrations

Output Formats SlideMaker generates a Powerpoint slide that can be used in sales situations, telesales and for general reference selling.

Prerequisites SlideMaker Online only needs a Web Browser and access to the SolidWorks Intranet or VAR Desktop.

Preparation to Use SlideMaker The following data needs to be supplied before you begin using SlideMaker and to also prevent unnecessary calls back to the sales executive involved. Data Needed UsageProspect Name Name to appear on slide header Location of Prospect City, Country, Zip Code Product Designed Keywords Specifically what they make eg:

controls, electronics, military, medical devices etc

Industry Sector General sectors to generate statistics “x seats in y customers in .... aerospace, consumer, machinery

Prospect Parent Group To extract list of solidworks users in the same group of companies eg: ABB

Using SlideMaker Online SlideMaker can be found at: https://www.solidworks.com/home/vardesktop/slidemaker/ SlideMaker online has 3 main steps that are clearly presented and allow you a flexible environment to get accurate results.

Step 1 : Entry View

Enter Name of Prospect Enter the name of the prospect as you would like it to appear on the slide.

Location Information Enter the nearest city, large town and/or zip code. Mapquest will not locate small places. Please see the Appendix for supported regions. The Circle is automatically drawn and populates the field to highlight what appears on the slide. This is editable so you can change the Radius of the circle and redraw the circle if you desire in the mapping view.

Select Units Select the units for the radius of the circle.

Select Country Select the country for the map and also the country for the statistics that are calculated. The number of SolidWorks customer sites are shown next to the name.

Product Search This is a CRITICAL step for a good reference. The filters are laid out to allow you to maximize the number of companies found using two AND choices and an AND NOT selection in each to refine the search. This also allows you to use two languages to help find customers.

See the example where the logic reads : Products = ( “BIKE” AND “RACING” ) AND NOT “PUMPS”.

Enter Products for Stats This allows you to select wider industries to generate the statistics eg: 300 Seats in 130 companies in bikes and racing

Parent Group of Prospect Company or DUNS Number Allows you to specify Parent GROUP and see some of the largest sites. NOTE : Company name is used as a wildcard search so enter “Hallib” and this will search for any occurrence of the string “hallib”

Step 2 : Mapping View

Adjusting Map This view allows the user to control the zoom state of the map placed on the presentation and an overview of the image itself to ensure correct results.

Step 3 : Creating the Final Slide

You will be shown the slide layout for review and the back buttons to allow users to go back and change search criteria, map layout. When you are satisfied with the results click CREATE PRESENTATION SLIDE and a windows pop-up will give you the opportunity to cancel, save the PPT to disk or view it directly in the browser.

Editing and Changing final layout The layout of the final slide is fixed but clearly the PPT slide can be modified by users after saving. The Blue items are controlled by the SolidWorks Marketing team and will be updated quarterly. The RED items are calculated dynamically from the customer database based on the search criteria used.
