GAP/NEEDSWith continuous development of new clinical evidence, revisions of existing guidelines, and the introduction of new and generic drugs, today’s physician needs guidance in order to critically evaluate and apply appropriate standards of care. Topics were determined by attendee evaluations, surveys and review of current literature.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis activity is designed for healthcare professionals including physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners specializing in Internal Medicine, Family or General Practice, Gynecology, Geriatric Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Preventive Medicine or others practicing as primary care physicians.

LEARNING OBJECTIVESThrough a combination of evidence-based didactic lectures, case presentations, and faculty and learner Q&A, learners will have the opportunity to develop new strategies for implementation in their practices. At the completion of this activity, learners should be better prepared to:

w Discuss evaluation and management of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, psychiatric issues and dermatological complaints

w Recognize current and projected changes in the practice of medicine resulting from legislated healthcare reform

w List usage of new drugs used to manage cardiovascular disease, diabetes, psychiatric issues and dermatological complaints

w Apply situational case presentations to clinical practice in the focused areas of hypertension and lipids, diabetes, psychiatry, dermatology, and new drugs
