PURPOSE: The activity will encourage the children to place importance on the times they spend worshiping Jesus.

DESCRIPTION: In this activity, the children will make a calendar to help them look forward to, and remember times for, worshiping Jesus by praying, reading the Bible, and coming to church.

MATERIALS NEEDED: For this activity, you will need this Help Sheet. For each child you will need pens and colored markers and the “Calendar Check Calendar Lesson 1” from the Lesson Materials CD-ROM.

TO INTRODUCE THE ACTIVITY SAY: 1. When something is important to people they will put it on a calendar.2. Calendars can help us remember important dates and also help us look forward to important dates that are

coming up.3. Today we are going to put some important things on a calendar for your week.4. This calendar will help you remember to do the important things that show that Jesus is most important to

you.

For detailed instructions on how to lead the activity, see the Small Group Leader DVD.

DURING THE ACTIVITY SAY: 1. There are three things I want you to put on your calendar that show that Jesus is most important.2. They are praying, reading your Bible, and coming to church.3. On the calendar, I want you to pick a time when you will do each of the activities.4. Then you will color in each activity in its own color to help it stand out.

Note: Give the children a color code depending on the color of markers you have. For example, red might be for prayer time, green for Bible reading time, and yellow for coming to church. Fill out an example for yourself to show the children.

AFTER THE ACTIVITY SAY: 1. There is plenty of time left in your week to do your schoolwork, chores, or anything else you want to do.2. Use the rest of your calendar to write down time to do your chores, schoolwork and to have fun with your

friends, but do not let anything interfere with the times you colored in.3. These times that you have colored in on your calendar are the most important times of your week.4. When someone asks you to do something, check your calendar. If it interferes with something that is there,

ask them if you can do it another time, or not do it at all.5. It is okay to say no to something because it interferes with your time worshiping Jesus. That gives you a

great chance to show your friends how important worshiping Jesus is in your life.

CLOSING STATEMENT:As we worship Jesus throughout the week, we are showing that He is important to us. Choosing to worship Jesus over doing something else will show others that He is number one in our lives.

PURPOSE: This activity will review the lesson with the children and help them share the lesson with others when they go home.

DESCRIPTION: In this activity, the children will make a craft that will help them share the story of what they learned with their friends and family.

MATERIALS NEEDED: For this activity, you will need this Help Sheet and an NLT translation of the Bible. Each child will need scissors, tape, a Bible, writing utensils, and the “Broadcast The Bible Lesson Craft Lesson 1” and “Broadcast The Bible Craft Instruction Page“ from the Lesson Materials CD-ROM.

TO INTRODUCE THE ACTIVITY SAY: 1. Our Main Point today is I Will Show That Jesus Is Number One In My Life! Everyone say that together, with

me. (I Will Show That Jesus Is Number One In My Life!)2. That is not only a great Main Point, it is a great lesson that we need to broadcast to all of our friends

and family.3. Today, we will review the lesson and prepare to share that message with our friends and family.

For detailed instructions on how to lead the activity, see the Small Group Leader DVD.

Note: Pass out the materials to the children and help them cut out the pieces correctly.

DURING THE ACTIVITY SAY: 1. Reporters often use cue cards and teleprompters to remind them of what to say when they are reporting on

an important story.2. Today, you will make a tool to help you remember how to report on what we learned.3. You should have a scene with a screen in it, and a lmstrip with scenes from our Bible Lesson in it.4. Cut a slit where it is noted on either side of the screen in your scene.5. Then, cut out your lmstrips and tape them together.6. Once you have nished, look at the back of the lmstrips.7. The back of the lmstrips tells you what to say when the picture is showing in the front.8. That way you can provide the soundtrack for your broadcast.9. But there is one slide that is incomplete. Which one is it? (The Bible Verse.) 10. That is correct. We need to look up the reference and use our Bibles to ll in the missing words.

Note: Help the children look up the verse and read it together. Be sure you have an NLT version of the Bible so that you can help them ll in the blanks.“If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your sel sh ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23b (NLT)

11. Now that we have lled in the missing words, you can use this tool to broadcast the lesson we learned today to your family and friends.

12. Show the side with the pictures to your audience and use the words on the back of each picture to help you tell the story.

13. Good reporters always practice a story before going live on the air, so get with a partner and practice showing the pictures and telling the story to each other.

AFTER THE ACTIVITY SAY: 1. Whenever we learn something here at church, it is news we should share with others.2. You will all make great jr. reporters by using this tool to help you tell this story to your friends and family.

CLOSING STATEMENT:Don’t miss a chance to broadcast your story this week. Tell everyone about what we learned and invite them to come to church with you next week to learn even more.
