Jan 1, 2019 : Adamya Chetana organised a mega event Ananth Namana 2019, an event dedicated to pay tribute to Shri. AnanthKumar and his contributions to the society. Shri AnanthKumar, an unmatched organiser, undefeated leader, founder of Sasyagraha Green Lifestyle movement, an ever smiling and friendly human being. To mark the event seva Utsava (concept – Anantha Namana), Computer Applications first semester students and faculties joined in chorus singing of “Vandhe Matharam” and “O nanna chethana”.

Jan 18, 2019 : Dr. RamMohanReddy, Assistant Professor, Computer Applications department participated in TEQIP-III meeting held at New Delhi. The purpose of the meeting is to design and development of a customised ERP system for a group of technical institutes, whose functions are similar in nature under TEQIP-III.

Feb 6, 2019 : NASSCOM COE-AI & DS Feedback and Awareness Program on AI skilling program attended by Dr. K Vijayakumar, Shankar Guggari, and Dr. V. Umadevi.. Mr. Mohan Krishna and Ankit Jain explained the AI skilling program for Faculty members for college faculty members and sought feedback on the program.

Feb 19, 2019 : The Art of Living organisation has started a movement called "Drug Free India", an integrated 360° movement to fight the drug abuse, bringing all the key influencers from multiple domains across the country under the guidance of the world-renowned humanitarian leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji. This webcast was organised at FDC, B.M.S. College of Engineering. Human Resource Development Minister Shri. Prakash Javadekar ji shared an inspiring

message urging all the educational institutes across the country to join the Drug Free India movement. Hon'ble Vice Chairman, AICTE encouraged institutions to participate in this movement to help youth to overcome drug abuse and to work towards holistic development of students.

Feb 27, 2019 : Placement Activity was handled by Pooja and Harshit, forth semester Computer Applications students. In this session students were told to make teams of two and start practicing problems in Codechef. They were told to increase the complexity level by one step and scores were given accordingly.

March 2, 2019 : Cultural Activity was conducted in FDC. The event started by Jayant Sahu (4th sem) performance.

Sep 7, 2019 : A special lecture on Research Methodology and Latex by Prof N Sundararajan, Nanyang Technological University, Singapur was live transmitted at FDC, through VTU e-Shikshana. This event was coordinated by Dr. D N Sujatha and B S Sowmya of Computer Applications Department.

Sep 7, 2019 : Sri. Sivaramakrishna and Sri. Raghavendra Rao R V, Computer Applications department organized industrial visit to Lekha Wireless Solutions for third semester MCA students.

Sep 14-15, 2019: Department of computer applications hosted various events as a part of the technical symposium- PHASE SHIFT held on 14th and 15th of September 2019. A large group of students from different colleges participated in various events. The faculty coordinator for the event was Mrs. Shailaja K.P and the student coordinators were Ms.Pooja V, Ms. Vardhini R and Mr.Kushal S.L Here is a brief description about the various events held on the two days.

1. Sliders The event was the first event of our department. Here the participants were given a topic on spot and the participants had to prepare a power point presentation in 20 minutes. The presentation had to contain 5 slides and the participants had to present in 5 minutes. The event coordinators were Bharath P and Ranjitha and Dr. D.N Sujatha, faculty coordinator.



2. Stress your brain This event had 3 rounds where the first was a presentation with different logos and the participants had to guess the correct one. The second round was where students had to guess tricky puzzles with loud music on to stress them out. The final round had a tangled jumper wire set and the participants had to untangle the same with a specific pattern and in between the students had to answer the questions that were shot at them to stress them out. The student coordinators were Harshitha N and Gautham and the faculty coordinator was Dr. S Uma.

3. Zeal(Workshop) The workshop on Energy Efficiency and Sustainability by Mr. Karan Kumar H. The session was very effective and interactive and was well received by the participants. The student coordinators were Gowda Pooja Umesh and Kashish Singh and Mrs. T S Pushpa and P Lakshminarayana faculty coordinators.



4. Dazzle coding

The event was blind coding where the monitor was turned off but the cpu was on and the students had to solve the given problems and once they finished coding the monitor would be switched on to check the output. The student coordinators were Anamika Tripathi and Manasa and the faculty coordinator was Mrs. S Shilpa.

5. Mimic Tarriance This event was a mock interview event where the students had different rounds hat were similar to the process of mock interview- The aptitude round, Coding, Group discussion and the HR round. The students had the opportunity to experience the process of interview and it was well received. The student coordinators were Aamir Pasha and Anusha and the faculty coordinators were Mrs. V.Padmapriya and Mr. Girish K.

6. Fishing Expedition The event was a mix of technical and non-technical treasure hunt where each clue redirected to another and the team which was quick enough to crack all the clues were



declared as winners. The student coordinators were Anitha B and Prajwal and the faculty coordinators were Dr. Ch Ram Mohan Reddy and Mr Raghavendra Rao R V

MCA Department Stall The department stall had the best projects of our department and we had about 100+ visitors for the stall. The student coordinators were Rohan Singh and Jayanth and the faculty Coordinator was Mr M Sivaramakrishna.

Sep 23, 2019 : Industry Institute Interaction Cell(IIIC) and BMSCE- IEEE WiE-SB Wing of Department of Computer Applications organized a workshop on “Software Product Development in Practice”. Mr.Padmavathy Gopal and Mr.Murali Venugopal from Techwedge Software Solutions were the resource persons.



Sep 23, 2019 : Orientation for 1st semester MCA students was organized by Computer Applications Department from 23rd to 24th of September,2019. A brief description about MCA Program, Placements, Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular opportunities at B.M.S.CE campus was described by faculties of MCA department. This program is coordinated by Dr. D N Sujatha.

Sep 23, 2019 : A hands-on workshop on "Innovating with Internet of Things" was organized by Computer Applications department. Dr. D N Sujatha coordinated this event.

Sep 26, 2019 : Placement Club, Computer Applications department conducted a session on Programming, Aptitude and Communication Skills for third semester students. This interactive session was handled by Ganesha S, Gowda Pooja Umesh, Vaibhavi, Anamika Tripathi, Anamika and Rohan R. Students were asked to work on Hanker Rank and implement in any programming language. Finally, students were given aptitude test on quantitative and

current affairs on “Kahoot!” on their systems. For communication some real time scenarios was given and asked them to give the solutions.

Sep 26, 2019 : Mr. Raghavendra Rao R V informed about the importance of various activities of Placement Club, Computer Applications Department for first semester students. Then session was handled by Sharmila T, Vaibhavi M.N and Vardhini R. In this session multiple choice questions regarding coding and interacted with them for the purpose figuring out volunteers for handling placement activities for first semester MCA.



Oct 1, 2019 : As part of Industry Institute Interaction Cell and Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Department of Computer Applications conducted a Technical Talk on Machine Learning. Mr. Muthuram Govindarasu, Founder and CEO, Indigeneous Teck Private Limited was the

Resource Person for this session.

Oct 2, 2019: Dr. D N Sujatha and Students of Computer Applications department participated in "No Plastic Campaign". AIKYA awareness drive on the role of plastic in environment pollution and mobilize people to reduce their 'plastic footprint'. Volunteers exhibited a huge artwork made of plastic waste in partnership with the South Western Indian

Railways at Yeshwanthpur Junction Railway Station.
