The 1910 can only be grouped with other 1910 Series Switches. 2. A number of heritage Comware 1U switches support stacking of up to 9 devices, while a few only support stacking of up to 4 devices. 3. The 3800 Switch Series supports up to 5 switches in a full mesh and up to 10 switches in a ring or chain. The 2920 switch series supports up to 4 switches in a ring or chain 28. Simplified management comes from assigning one IP address to a group of switches and managing them as a single device. HP Networking uses clustering to describe the feature allowing multiple switches from different Series to be grouped together in a master / slave arrangement for ease of administration. All Comware based switches support clustering of up to 255 devices. All heritage Provision products support clustering up to 16 devices. Mixed clusters across the implementations is not supported. Clustering group management functionality is not as rich as stacking; for instance, clustering does not support distributing trunks or routing across multiple units in a cluster. Stacking Common term for grouping multiple switches together for simplified management, but industry definitions vary widely. HP Networking uses stacking to describe the feature allowing multiple like switches to be grouped together for ease of administration and additional cross-unit capabilities, key among them being cross-unit link aggregation. A number of Comware based1U switches support stacking of up to 9 devices, while a few only support stacking of up to 4 devices. A number of Comware based products support stacking including 3100v2 and 3610 switch series. 29. Copyright 2012 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. The information contained herein is subject to change without notice.29 Expandability Switch Virtualization Intelligent Resilient Framework, or IRF, is an advanced stacking technology utilized on Comware based switches Meshed Stacking on the 3800 Switch Series and Stacking on the 2920 Switch Series are an advanced stacking technology utilizing dedicated stacking modules and cabling. These technologies are fully resilient for faster fail-over recovery and supports both distributed trunking and distributed routing tables for highest resiliency. IRF supports locally attached devices as well as with geographically distributed units. As with stacking, stacks can only be built of like switches. A number of Comware based 1U switches support stacking of up to 9 devices, while a few only support stacking of up to 4 devices. IRF is supported on key Comware based1U stackables as well as in modular products. These include 5500, 4210G, 4510G, 5500G, 4800G, 3600v2, 5120, 5500, 58XX, 59XX, 7500, 9500, 10500, and 12500. Some IRF stacks of Comware based switches are interoperable. You can mix stacks of these device types: 4800G and 5500G-EI or 4210G and 5120G-EI. The 4510G and 5500G-SI currently will not mix. A firmware upgrade may be required depending on the scenario. 30. Copyright 2012 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. Local routing on a switch can boost workgroup performance and offload central router tasks. Supports Access Control Lists (ACLs) and 802.1X Enhanced security. Use 802.1X to enforce network access controls. ACL rules can granularly define who has access to what areas of your network. Extra ports for SFP fiber connectivity. True ports, not combo ports. Greater port capacity and switch performance than switches using combo ports. Smart web-based management with advanced features. Simple to use web interface allows you to customize network operation. Choose from among four Power over Ethernet models. Two 24-port models, one 170 Watts of PoE and the other 365 Watts of PoE. Two 8-port models, one 65W of PoE and the other 180W of PoE. It is most cost-effective to buy the model that most matches the PoE power level you require. PoE enables powering of client devices like IP phones, thin clients, wireless APs, etc without additional wiring. Lifetime Warranty. Covers power supply and fans. Next business day advanced hardware replacement. High quality products giving peace of mind about the network installation. HP Confidential 71. The foundation for Converged Infrastructures management HP 5400 and 8200 Modular Chassis Series ProVision ASIC: the heart of 3500, 6200, 6600, 5400, 8200 switches. They share the same operating system and run the same binary image to ease the management of complex networks and thus reduce TCO. Developed by HP Labs, the ProVision ASIC brings new and advanced capabilities, including: Wirespeed policy enforcement: The policy enforcement engine gives network administrators hardware-based granular control of access and traffic flow to protect, detect and respond against network threats without impacting network performance. Built-in ASIC resiliency: Engineered to continuously operate while withstanding error conditions and external attacks, such as denial of service attempts. Programmable network processor: Allows for wirespeed in-depth packet analysis and enables new hardware-based functionality to be ignited without costly upgrades to the hardware. A recent example has been the availability of IP v6 without any hardware update. 143. Copyright 2012 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. It is not industry best practice to use 40MHz channels in the 2.4 GHz band. 4 Non Overlapping Channels in the 5GHz band give you the ability to operate two bonded channels and take advantage of the full capabilities of the 802.11n standard and reach max speeds. For max speed (300Mps*) 802.11n requires 2 Non Overlapping Channels to be used (Bonded) together to form a 40MHz channel. HP M200 AP supports either frequency band allowing customer to take full advantage of the 802.11n standard. 171. Copyright 2012 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. But multiple APs can be hard to administer. With the M220, when you change the settings of one M220 Access Point, other M220s in your network automatically get updated. We call this clustering. Clustering simplifies set up and ongoing administration Clustering enhances security. Clustering even allows Layer 2 roaming so you can maintain a wireless connection while being mobile in your facility No additional hardware is required; this is controller-less. Sweet spot is 3 to 8 APs but will supports sites with up to 10. 174. Copyright 2012 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. Clustering Provides a single point of administration and lets you deploy, view, configure, and secure the wireless network as a single entity rather than a series of separate wireless devices A group of up to 10 access points in the same subnet Multiple clusters can exist on the same network Configured with the same wireless parameters Examples SSID (wireless network name) Wireless encryption security Radio setting VLANs 1 cluster with many Aps (up to 10 APs) Primary Use Case Multiple clustered AP groups in either the same network or separate networks/locations Secondary Use Case Cluster A Cluster B 176. Copyright 2012 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. The information contained herein is subject to change without notice.176 How clustering works Configure an IP address on each AP Enter a cluster name (ID) on each AP APs with common cluster IDs form the cluster group APs synchronize their configuration to form a common configured wireless network Clustering is now enabled Access any member AP of the cluster via the Web UI, enable a feature or change a configuration and the change propagates to all members in the cluster AP cluster Cluster ID = cluster A Cluster ID = cluster A Cluster ID = cluster A 177. Copyright 2012 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. The information contained herein is subject to change without notice.177 Cluster use examples Initial setup/configuration Select any member AP and configure the AP Configuration parameters are passed on to other members of the cluster Ongoing management Add an SSID or change wireless encryption and the update is sent to all members of the cluster Adding a new access point to the network Simply configure the AP with the cluster name The AP joins the cluster and receives its configuration from the cluster Configure via Web interface SSID: wireless network Security: WPA2 Radio: 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz Cluster name: Cluster A 178.
