opportunity to compare your current methods to those implemented by oth- ers in the industry.

Fundamentals of Powder Coating This course is focused squarely on the operating issues that affect the day-to- day success of a powder coat system. Practical information will be shared that will help you understand how to control your operation for quality re- sults, productivity, and profitability. This program is designed to provide you with a thorough discussion of the basic control issues and the challenges that face a powder coater so that you can understand how to maintain peak efficiency with your system.

Decorating Plastics This course emphasizes cost reduction and economical decorating and finish- ing as well as current and developing trends in these areas. This includes im- proved in-mold decorating techniques, reduced use of solvents, new develop- ments in pigmentation, and reduction in the cost of materials used. By at- tending you will learn the fundamental principles of and part design details for good finishing and decorating.

IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems-Understanding the Standard and Its Implications IS0 14001, the recently published in- ternational standard for environmental management systems, is fast becoming a major issue for U.S. business. This course provides participants with a thorough understanding of the IS0 14001 standard, its likely impact on U.S. industry, and its regulatory and legal implications. The course will also address the methods and focus for a business to get started on their IS0 14000 journey and what to expect dur- ing the registration process.

Tuesday, May 20 lOa.m.-6p.m.

Wednesday, May 21 1la.m -6p.m.

Thursday, May 22 1 la.m.-3p.m.

EVENlNG TUTORIALS

MONDAY, MAY 19 5:30 p.m.-&30 p.m.

Cost Analysis for Coating Processes This tutorial will provide the operator of a paint or powder system with the knowledge of how to calculate the costs associated with the operation of a coating system. Understanding the ap- plied cost of coating and the variables that affect it can make the difference between profit and loss. The cost of powder or paint application, the oven costs, the washer costs, labor, and the hanging arrangement of the parts as they travel through the system can af- fect profits. The information shared in this program will allow the operator to accurately predict the cost of coating a specific part and to evaluate the impact of making process adjustments.

Fundamentals of Electrocoating This tutorial will provide numerous in- sights into the electrocoat process and will teach you the practical knowledge needed to set up and operate a system. Although some descriptive electrocoat chemistry will be presented, the tuto- rial is designed for those with no chemistry background. The program will concentrate on a broad range of industrial applications using examples from a wide variety of end uses. Equipment considerations and trouble- shooting will also be discussed.

Simulation of Paint Lines This tutorial provides an overview of the simulation technology and its use in robotic paint applications. The ses- sion explores typical problems that can be solved effectively by utilizing sim- ulation software with three-dimen- sional graphics. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the sim- ulation tools and techniques to more efficiently design and operate robotic paint cells. Selection and placement of equipment in workcells, creation of collision-free motion parts, and place- ment and programming of robots for highest paint efficiency are among the applications discussed in detail through case study.

The Technology of Anodizing Aluminum t?y A. R? Brace and l? G. Shea&y 334 pages $175.00

This second edition starts off with a discussion of anodizing as a business, including plant investment, budgeting, and control of finances-a valuable subject not readily available elsewhere. The authors follow this with chapters on cleaning and brighten- ing, the various types of anodizing processes, oxide coloring and sealing, concluding with process testing and coating proper- ties. The experienced anodizer will probably find enough new material to increase his expertise, and the new customer will learn almost everything necessary for setting up and operating a department.

DESCRIPTION BF-1200 LN SEALER is a liquid solution that has been devel- oped to give the aluminum anodizer another option of sealing anodic coatings

ADVANTAGES 1. Low Nlckei Content Using SF-1200 LN SEALER will reduce your plant’s

discharge of Nickel Metal by 80% ii you are now using a conventional powder or liquid nickel seal.

2. Mid-Ranp Temperahrre: SF-1200 LN SEALER does not require temperatures above 166oF to obtain an excellent seal as do other low or nickel free products.

3. Leaching of Dyes Minimlxed: Other high nickel proprietary compound are cur- rently used to minimixe the leaching of organic dyes during the first few seconds of sealing. BF-1,300 LN SU\LER performs equally well with 80% less nickel.

4. Superior Appearance: The ingredients in BF-1200 LN SEALER eliminates smutting, powdering, blooming and yellowing of the anodic coating. These conditions have long plagued the anodizer, requiring expensive m-runs and hand wiping of the final product.

6. Superior Results: BF-1200 LN SEALER will give a sealed coating that will exceed the requirements for the Modified Stain Test, the more stringent Acid Dissolution Test and Bleach and Salt Spray Tests.

6. Air Quality Improved: SF-1200 LN SEALER, being a solution, eliminates nickel sail dusting” which allows the aluminum anodizer to meet the increasingly stringent air quality standards.
