LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MARRIAGE IN MEXICOBRIDE AND GROOM MUST ARRIVE AT LEAST THREE WORKING DAYS (MONDAY TO FRIDAY) PRIOR TO THE WEDDING DATEAND MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION:

Valid Passports: Valid passports from your country of citizenship are mandatory for weddings

Tourist Visa: This visa is provided upon entry to Mexico at the airport

Letter of No Marriage Registration (CIR)This document is handled by the Civil Registry to verify that the spouses have not previously been married. It is processed in Chetumal, Quintana Roo and has an additional charge of 35 USD. This document is attached to your file directly by the Civil Registry.

Original Blood Test & Medical Certi�cate:The blood test must be done in Playa del Carmen no longer than 15 days prior to the wedding date (or in any other location within the Mexican territory), and it must be certified by a Doctor in Mexico, as required by the Civil Ministry. This test determines blood type, and screens for HIV and STD infections. Under Mexican Law individuals that test positive for HIV or an STD cannot get legally married in Mexico. The blood test is completed at the hotel and arranged by the wedding coordinator at the cost of $ 220 USD per couple to be paid in cash.

Four witnesses (relatives or friends):Witnesses are required by law. If witnesses are not Mexican citizens, they must provide a copy of their passport or any official photo ID and their tourist visa. They must also arrive at least 3 working days prior to the ceremony. The hotel can provide the witnesses with an additional charge of $30 USD each.
