SMIMobile®

SMIMobile is a fully featured Handheld-based application running on the MicrosoftWindows Mobile/CE platform.

SMIMobile is a complementary product to SMIHost, enabling a mobile extension toany data-based system:

Access Control..Time & Attendance..Events management..Asset Tracking..Card printing and management..and many other applications.

It enables the display of data associated with the card or other credential typepresented, whether that be individual identification data, asset information, accessvalidation, qualifications eligibility, or any other data type.

Deployment ModesThere are three modes in which the products can be deployed:

Data on Handheld

SMIHost transfers the data and/or images to be utilized onto the handheld device.When a card is presented then the details relevant to that card are displayed.

Data on CardSMIHost writes the data and/or images onto the chip of a 13.56MHz “SmartCard”. When the card is presented to the reader, the information is read from thechip and displayed on the handheld screen.

Wireless

When a card is presented the card number is transmitted back to SMIHost, whichretrieves the relevant data and/or image and transmits back to the Handheld.

The products support both WiFi and GPRS communication methods.

Audit trailBy default, SMIMobile records every card-read transaction. When the Handheld unit is synchronized withSMIHost, that Audit Trail is transferred into a location of the users choice.This data can then by used for subsequent reporting, or transferred back into the host database.

WatchlistInclude an optional ‘watch-list’ on the PDA for up-to-date exclusions

Auto-SynchronisationSet SMIHost to Auto-synch, and it will detect when a Handheld has been set in its cradle, and automaticallyperform synchronization.

Wireless extensionso Wireless transfer of Audit trail and

WatchlistUse a Wi-Fi network connection to transferupdated Watchlist to SMIMobile from SMIHost,and Audit Trail from the SMIMobile to SMIHost

o Wireless lookupUse a Wi-Fi network connection to lookup thecardholder data on a remote database. Scanthe card on the handheld, and SMIMobile usesthe card number to perform a remote lookupof the cardholder data, and transfer data andimage back to the handheld for verification.

Time SynchronisationIn order to ensure total system co-ordination the mobile devices automatically adopt the time of the serverwhen synchronised.

Lock DownThe mobile device may be “locked down” to ensure that only SMIMobile can be utilised.
