First Day OrientationStarts in the spring with our future 8th graders applying to be Knight Crew◦ 8th graders who are selected go through a spring event to introduce leaders to
the Knight Crew program
Prior to the start of school, 8th grade leaders return for a two-day training◦ Knight Crew leaders are partnered to run orientation activities with small groups
of 6th graders
On the first day of school, all 6th graders come together in an assembly with the only 8th graders on campus being Knight Crew leaders◦ The entire morning of the first day is dedicated to welcoming our newest Knights,
introducing 6th graders to each other in small groups, and touring students through IMS in their small groups
We host follow up activities during the year with the same orientation groups for check ins and fun◦ Bottom line: we work to make your 6th graders feel welcome from the moment
they enter the doors of IMS
-
Associated Student Body◦ In middle school we shift from parent led/planned activities to students
taking on the work of planning and executing activities for their fellow Knights
◦ As a student leadership team, one of the first events we put on is the Fun Run as a fund raiser for ASB
◦ The ASB cabinet (elected positions) and the student leadership team (leadership students) plan events which promote shared experiences among students and staff
◦ Some of those shared experiences include:◦ Pep Assemblies◦ Message Assemblies◦ Knight Life (dancing, movie, concessions, games, inflatables, and more...)◦ Clubs◦ Hot Chocolate Mornings◦ And more...
