Sikh  Mission  of  Virginia  REGISTERED  MEMBERSHIP  Form  Sikhi spirit of Naam Japna (Meditate), Wand Chakna (Sharing) and Kirt Kamai (Truthful Living) are the three golden rules as guided by Guru Nanak – These three pillars of Sikh faith are an important part of every Sikh’s life. Every Sikh is encouraged to bring their children, family and friends as the motivation for this Organization is to encourage our next generations to understand, love and cherish the Holy Message (“Bani”) of the ten Nanaks, adopt truthful living and live every breadth immersed in the Sikhi way of life.

Sikh  Mission  of  Virginia  (SMV)  is  organized  exclusively  for  charitable,  religious  and  education  purposes  to  meet  the  following  objectives:  

• Advancement  of  Human  Potential  • Congregations  (“Divan”)  • Advancement  of  Sikh  Faith  (“Dharma”)  • Advancement  of  Sikh  Code  of  Conduct  (“Rehat  

Maryada”)  • Advancement  of  Sikh  Community  and  Humanity  at  

large  (“Sarbat  da  Bhala”)  • Teaching  of  Sikhi,  History  and  Gurmat  • Sikh  Initiation  or  Baptism  (“Amrit  Sanchaar”)  

Membership  Obligations  reflect  the  Criteria  for  membership  and  affiliation  with  SMV:  

A  personal  affirmation  that  you  are  a  Sikh  as  defined  under  Article  I  “Definitions”  Section  1.01  (m)  of  the  SMV  ByLaws/Operating  Agreement.      

You  agree  with  the  Sikh  Code  of  Conduct  (“Rehat  Maryada”)  of  Sri  Akal  Takhat  Sahib  approved  by  Sikh  Panth  and  published  by  SGPC.      

You  pledge  to  abide  by  the  ByLaws/Operating  Agreement  of  the  SMV.

You  acknowledge  and  in  agreement  that  the  Panj  Pyare  and  SMV  Sewadars  have  a  religious  responsibility  in  your  life.      

You  commit  to  support  the  work  of  Akaal  Purakh  (God),  Ten  Nanaks  and  Sri  Guru  Granth  Sahib  being  done  through  SMV  with  your  time,  gifts,  abilities  and  finances  as  you  are  able.
