GENRE-HOW IT IS SIGNALLED

The genre is signalled almost instantly as Turkish, the protagonist, narrates the audience instantly knows that this movie is going to be informal but also very British due to his cockney accent. However, later on in the opening scene, during the heist, the audience is treated to an overwhelming escalation in action further signifying action as another genre.

MISE EN SCENE PERIODS, COLOURS AND PROPS

In the mise en scene the period is 1990’s to early 2000’s. The colours reflect the time, they are very grey and gloomy

with not much excitement which can be linked to the experiences that some people had at that time.

EDITING, SOUND AND VISION

The only editing that is within the opening scene is the use of text to present important roles that people played, eg the production company along with the director.

The other editing that is used is the stills in which the main characters are presented.

Non-diegetic music is used to set the scene but to relate to one of the main pivotal plot points, the caravan group in which the character Mickey originates.

NARRATIVE AND CHARACTERS

The audience is drawn in through the character of Turkish setting the scene and introducing him and his friend Tommy.

Quickly however this narration turns into a bank heist which puts the audience on the edge of their seats.

Finally, the audience is introduced to every important character in the movie through a series of stills which present each character in their natural form.
