Help usPreserve ourParks and Trails

Metropolitan Parks Districts manage parks within their service area. For example, they can buy, sell and own property, sign contracts, and develop new facilities.

City voters were asked about park priorities during development of the 2015 City of Snohomish Parks, Recreation and Open Space Long Range Plan. The top priority of this statistically-representative survey was “to maintain the parks and facilities we already have.” The establishment of a Metropolitan Park District does just that.

Protects the investment of Snohomish City Parks through secured funding through a levy.

Parks District tax revenue can only be spent on our parks and trails. All of Parks District revenues would provide direct services. None of it would be used for general city overhead.

A Metropolitan Parks District tax rate of $0.75 would ensure that each year Snohomish city parks and trails are adequately maintained even during recessions.

By approving a Metropolitan Parks District in this August’s election, we will preserve our investment in our park system. We will ensure that our children will always have great parks, trails, and open space in our community.

What the MPD does

REMEMBER TO VOTE!

Without sufficient maintenance and care, parks and trails become overgrown with brush and invasive species, playground equipment wears out, vandalism is not repaired, and our picnic shelters and restrooms become unattractive or even dangerous for use. Our community investments slowly waste away.

Sadly, the way we currently fund parks and trails does not protect the future of our park assets. During economic downturns, just when we need parks the most, park maintenance funding is cut and parks put at risk.
