Connected Health IT Framework for Smart Healthcare Delivery Dr. Yeong-Tae Song

Professor Dept. of Computer and Information Sciences

Towson University, U.S.A. [email protected]

Abstract In a modern society, we are surrounded by state-of-the-art technologies that help our lives more convenient and secure than ever before. With the advancement from the fourth industrial revolution, sensor networks are added to our already well-connected society and now we are practically living in a super connected society where everything is communicating with each other. However, when it comes to the delivery of healthcare, the connectivity becomes challenging and patients suffer from the discontinuity of clinical information due to lack of communication and fragmented and isolated care delivery from within and across care settings. The resulting consequences include poor patient outcome, astronomical medical expenses and even deaths by preventable medical mistakes. According to the research from Johns Hopkins University (2016), there have been about 250,000 deaths reported per year by preventable medical mistakes. Also the US government spends more than a trillion dollars for treating chronic diseases using tax payers’ money and the amount could reach $6 trillion by 2050 if no action such as rigorous preventive care is taken. The preventable medical mistakes indicated that there is a failure in the coordination among the caregivers and in sharing of the medical records at right time, with right people, in right place. The astronomical medical expense suggested that effective and accessible preventive care must be provided to each individual before any serious disease is fully developed. In this talk, I’d like to discuss about current applicable health IT technologies and their applications for the delivery of smart and connected healthcare for everyone. Bio Dr. Song is currently a full professor in the department of computer and information sciences at Towson University. He started his career as software engineer from 1980’s for about 8 years. After that, he earned his master and doctorate degrees in computer science from the university of Texas at Dallas in 1993 and 1999 respectively. He has published more than 70 refereed conference papers and journals since then. He has been primary investigators for various federal, state, and industry research projects including NASA telemedicine project. He has been chairing various international conferences including IEEE. He has been keynote speakers for various conferences and meetings. His major research areas include software engineering, enterprise architecture, smart e-learning, and Health Information Technology.

Trend of Influencer Marketing and Future Required Functions

Motoi Iwashita

Professor of Management Information Science

Chiba Institute of Technology, Japan

[email protected]

Abstract The development of ICT such as broadband networks, cloud computing, and mobile gadgets has enabled the wide use of not only information browsing (news sites, blogs, etc.) but also Consumer Generated Media (CGM). These multimedia services have dramatically changes our modern lifestyle. They give large impact for individuals to obtain and share information with ease. Individuals follow and make decision by consulting word-by-mouth information, comments and contents by influencers. Especially, mobile gadgets, such as smartphones and tablet PCs, have high usability and performance, and can provide easy access to required information at any time and place. Influencer marketing becomes popular recently according to these tendencies. Influencer marketing is one of the marketing method in which the information of products/services is scattered through influencers with social impact for intending the increase of awareness and interest in the market. The new work style, “YouTuber,” was born these days. Therefore, video is one of the strong media for advertising. As a result, the market of video advertisement gradually grows year by year. Lots of enterprises want to use video advertisement, and the needs of making video contents by influencers will increase. In this talk, I describe several issues concerned with influencer marketing. The result whether influencer marketing grows is deeply related to players’ behaviours, i.e., behaviours of consumers, providers, influencers and so on. Key features are constructing a new service to compensate the drawbacks of the conventional influencer marketing based on players’ behaviours, and realizing required functions for this mechanism. I outline some of the consequent functions that will be needed in this setting. Bio Motoi Iwashita is a Professor of the Department of Management Information Science at Chiba Institute of Technology, Japan. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics and Dr. Eng. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, in 1983, 1985, and 1999, respectively. In 1985, he joined Electrical Communications Laboratories in NTT Corporation, Japan. He has engaged in research on modeling and evaluation method of optical access networks, telecom operation support system development, and multi-service teletraffic network design there. In 1992 and 1993, he was an exchange researcher at the British Telecom Research Laboratories, England. His academic work includes research on service design method, micro area selection algorithm for infrastructure installation, secure transaction management system based on consumers’ behavior, after he moved to Chiba Institute of Technology. He is a senior member of IEEE, member of IEICE of Japan, ORSJ, JSAI, and JASMIN.
