    lMary Ann Williams married second, Dec. 1804, Gen. William Arrington. There were by this marriage two children, Col. Nicholas W. Arrington and Ann Arrington. The latter married Dr. Peyton Randolph Tunstall and they were the parents of Virginia Ann Carolina Tunstall (Mrs. Virginia Clay-Clopton), the most prominent woman of her time in Alabama. Her autobiography, "A 'Belle of the Fifties," gives many ref-erences to the Battle family as she was reared by her aunt, Mary Ann Williams Bat-tle, who married Gov. Henry W. Collier of Alabama. 2John Williams served as Commissary in Revolutionary Army with rank of major. He was member of convention to appoint delegates to the Colonial Congress, April 1774. In April 1776, he was one of twelve men selected for the protection of the county. He was the son of Jacob Williams (b. Isle of Wight Co., Va., 1711) who mar-ried 1736, Martha Drake, daughter of Richard Drake of Isle of Wight Co., and Pene-lope Bridges. The will of John Williams, dated Sept. 11, 1794, was probated Feb. 1795 in Halifax Co., N. C.
