Many Russian celebrities have their villas in Sochi.

Sochi, on the Black Sea, until recently was a just cluster of sanatoriums, but will be hosting the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Russia spent $50 billion to host the Winter Olympics - by far the most expensive games in the history of Olympic sport - $10 billion more than the cost of the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and more than 3 times more than the budget of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The ice-rink events will be held in the city of Sochi. The main facilities, Olympic Stadium and press center was built here.

Fiszt Olympic Stadium, site of the opening and closing ceremonies is named from one of Russia's Caucasus Mountains, Fiszt.

Grand Ice Palace, Sochi 2014

Site of the hockey matches, accommodating 12,000 spectators. The dome, like a giant frozen water drop, is shiny and silver by day; at night it is a huge LED screen.

"Oddball" in Russian means hockey puck. The arena resembles a snow whirlwind. The building is to be dismantled and relocated to another Russian city after the Olympics.
