What is Social Media?• Social Media is media designed to create social interaction
using highly accessible and professional publishing techniques
• Social Media was supposed to be mainly for college students to interact with each other from far places
• Now there are many age groups of people using social media
Current Statistics• 3 out of 4 people use social media during most of there day
• 17% of all web usage is on social media sites
• 93% percent of social media users believe that companies should have there own social media pages
Social Media is mostly used for….• Customer service
• Product feedback
• Contests
• News

Social media is good
• Kids can connect with long distance friends
• Seniors can advance in technology and reconnect with friends
• Can be used to help promote businesses
Social media is bad
• Kids aren’t as active as they were before social media
• People’s accounts can be stolen and used for bad things
• Social media can take over someone’s life
What do I think: • If used properly social media is not so bad
• If social media is used all the time people will only interact with each other online and there will be no talking
• Social media can connect old friends
• In my perspective social media can be good or bad
Social Media Tips• Don’t post pictures of friends without asking them or there
parents
• Don’t tell your address
• Make a username that has nothing to do with personal information
Facebook • Facebook is one of the most used social media sites ever
• Mostly ages 24-76 use it but there are many other ages groups using it
• In 5-6 months Facebook had 1,000 users
• It took television and the radio 5-6 years to get
that many users
