The Summit
Social Media Influencers Summit (SMIS) will be staged first this year and will be an annual event organized by iNewMedia Online Network in cooperation with Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. (CBSi).
The organizers behind the SMIS is excitedly planning the 2013 summit set on March 16 at JCenter Convention Center of JCenterMall at Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines.
We are happy and honored to announce that we have Rappler.com CEO and one of the country's foremost Social Media thought-leader Maria Ressa to be our Keynote Speaker of the event together with other prominent Social Media influencers.
We are expected to convene more than 300 social media influencers and users to share best practices from top industry leaders, set ethics and standards for users, and promote social media responsibility.
#TrendingForwardThe attendance of the first summit is expected to be diverse as they will be coming from the academe, youth sector, business sector leaders, and government institutions. Their attendance, however, will be united by one goal: “#TrendingForward."
The summit’s theme is the summation of two words:
"Trending" + "Forward"
"Trending" means "the general direction in which something tends to move." Each individual or company may have separate goals, but the ultimate goal of any “social media influencer" is to create a buzz for a social cause he/she is supporting.
"Forward" is being used to depict the innovation/presentation that each social media influencers should do to reach and influence the target audience. Buzz is not created by all. It is practiced by those who had mastered it. And this craft is fast changing with the dynamic preference and attitudes of the social media users.

iNewMedia Online Network (www.inewmediaonline.net) is a non-profit organization committed in providing an avenue for knowledge sharing on new media technologies.
Membership of this organization is composed of businesses and individuals who are digital marketers, SEO practitioners, social media marketing professionals, students, and professional bloggers. The organization also has officers who are community managers, leaders, and members of renowned communities such as TechTalks, Google Developers Group, and other new media groups in Cebu.

Dr. Narciso Tapia Kidney Transplant Fund. Dr. Narciso Tapia, or Buboy to his intimates, is one of the dynamic and active members of Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. Currently, he is battling a rare kind of disease which had caused major internal organs complication. We want to assist him in anyway we can. With this event, we are aiming to raise funds to support Dr. Tapia’s upcoming operation.
World Vision (www.worldvision.org.ph) is one of the global institutions recognized nationally and globally in uplifting the lives of thousands of youths and their communities. In cebu alone, this organization is supporting around a thousand children.
Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. (www.cebubloggers.com) is one of the premier blogging organization in the Philippines dedicated in promoting “social media users responsiblity”. This year, we are exploring in widening the scope including providing trainings and support to non-profit organizations that needs help.
