1/8/2014 20:09:25 Google AnalyticsIt's free and we don't have much money. There are some new socialtools so we'll be checking those out. Totally free Yes Medium

1/9/2014 10:03:40 SocialNewsDesk

SND was created by a couple of news people. They say over 500newsrooms use it now. It has features that you won't find in other similartools that only would be useful in a newsroom like reminding you to post, spell check, add a link, etc - best practice stuff. And you can put yourwhole team on it ... so everyone gets their own login and we don't haveto passwords for the native platforms anymore. It has a nice analyticsreport too ... you can get it emailed like overnights so you get a quick at aglance update daily. We also run all of our Facebook contests through it. Paid Yes Medium

1/9/2014 10:06:40 Spredfast

Lots of analytics to dig into (if you have the time :) and also features ascheduling tool. You can add multiple users without having to make themadmins of your account. Facebook, Twitter, Google+. Facebook hasadded many of the scheduling features that Spredfast has before, suchas the ability to edit scheduled post, upload your own thumbnails, etc. We have an account through Gannett's enterprise agreement, so I'm notsure about the cost. My favorite part of this tool is the real-time click through rate informationfor our home page. It has definitely opened our eyes about how peopleinteract with our stories, the home page carousel, etc. Although most ofthe tool isn't social per se, it does include A/B headline testing tool, whichwould be as useful for tweets as for headlines. It also include a fairly in-depth "social" tab, which can track clicks per hour and something it terms"reach" (both for Facebook and Twitter accounts). I also tracks somementions. Theoretically, you can schedule tweets, etc., but we don't usethe tool for that. Paid No Medium

1/9/2014 13:35:37 Bitly Enterprise

We just added bitly enterprise in November. This offers all kinds ofTwitter/sharing coolness to our site. It allows all our social shares to goout with our branded strib.mn short URL. There is extensive tracking, hourly, daily, etc, most shared. It shows us what OTHERS are sharingvia bitly. We can edit the unique part of short urls, for example: strib.mn/jmorneau, etc. You can also point the same URL to a new webaddress. It gives us referral data on our stories shared via bitly. (The listkind of goes on and on). It is not cheap Paid Yes Medium

1/9/2014 14:11:18 Bitly (Free)

Before we got Bitly Enterprise, we really relied on the free version of bitly.Because we had a grandfathered API code, were were actually able touse our branded short URL through TweetDeck Bitly log-in (although Ibelieve this has been taken away now) Nevertheless, even the freeversion of bitly allows users to track clicks on story shares. I *think* it stillallows you to edit the unique part of a short URL here bit.ly/*editable. Youcan also do some basic tracking of shares over time, days, geography, referrers Totally free No Medium

1/9/2014 17:25:40 Buffer

Really easy tool for scheduling posts to different platforms. The queue feature also lets you add tweets (from browser or readingapp) and will send them out on a pre-chosen schedule. The pay features are improving all the time, they have more robust stuff(including more analytics) for business prices.

1/9/2014 22:02:53 Crowdtangle

It adds context to FB posts by creating a score for every entry -- if a pagetypically gets 20 likes on every entry, a post with 40 likes gets a score of2x. This allows you to see what is trending. You can also use their searchfunctions to surface local stories with broader potential. Good for keepingtrack of competitors. Paid No Large
