Geography• Is the study of the Earth and the relationships between it and
people.• The word geography is composed of two words: • geo, which means earth,• Graph, which means description or drawing.
• It can be said that through geography we learn where and how places are.
• It helps explain the reason for their names and how people and animals live in different ways.

that cover most of the Earth’s surface. From largest to smallest they are:• Pacific Ocean (occupies
almost one third of Eath’s surface)
• Atlantic Ocean• IndianOcean• Antartic Ocean• Artic Ocean
Continents• Great expansions of land
surrounded by water. There are six continents:• America• Europe• Africa • Asia • Oceania• Antartica

Map• Is a drawing that
represents the Earth, or part of it, on a flat surface such as a sheet of paper.• Because of maps we
can easily locate place and not get lost
• They also serve to show different information about places.
• Cartography, is the technique used to make maps.• Is derived from the
word chart, another word for map. Long ago maps were known as navigation charts.
