Miss Marlatt was the delegate of the local group to the convention attended by 400 representatives of Zonta, which was held June 20 to 23 at the Seigniory Club, Quebec, Canada. In her report last night to the other members she outlined the business of the conference quoting excerpts from the principal speeches. She told of the speech made by Miss Agnes MacPhail, member of the Canadian House of Parliament, in which the speaker urged Zon- tians to take an active interest in government of the nation and also their own cities. "Zonta International has an ag- gregate membership of 3,100 wom- en in business and the professions in 120 clubs in the United States, Honolulu, Canada, Hamburg, Vien- na and Sydney," was a fact that Miss Marlatt quoted from records. 'Go West Young Man' Heeded by Local Boys Four young men from this city will set out Friday in a newly pur- chased car for California. In the party will be Frederick M. These men, of college age, have chipped in to buy the new auto and in it will start for the West coast to be away about seven weeks. They will stop for a week at Buffalo and Niagara Falls, an- other week at Chicago to vsit the World's Fair, and plan to spend at least a week in Hollywood. Re- turning home via a Southern route, they will go to Washington D. C, for a week's stay. Tilton Married Saturday Former Mount Vernon Man and Bride to Live In New York City Charles Edward Tilton, New York and Searsdale, formerly of this city, and his bride, the former Miss Dorothy Irving Veeder of Hartford, Conn., are on a motor trip. They were married Saturday at 4 o'clock in the garden of the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Hussey Veeder, Hartford. The Rev. William D. Mackenzie performed the cere- mony which was followed by a re- ception. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore her mother's wed- ding gown of white satin and old Flemish lace, made Empire style. Her tulle veil arranged from a cap of Flemish lace had also been worn by Mrs. Veeder. When Mr. and Mrs. Tilton return from their wedding trip they will make their home in New York City. Gilbert Hoerner Gets Gold Key of A. I. E. Gilbert Hoerner, 345 Highland Avenue, last night received the gold key award of Alpha Iota Epsilon Fraternity. The key, given annually by the members of the fraternity to the outstanding high school member, was present- ed to Mr. Hoerner at the last meet- ing of the fraternity for this sea- son. Church Unit Holds Affair; James Hope Toastmaster The annual banquet of the Ep- worth League of the First Metho- dist Episcopal Church was held last night at the Pinesbridge Coun- try Club, Newcastle. James Stew- art Hope, toastmaster, was intro- duced to the guests by Charles Phillips. Mr. Hope in turn intro- duced the entertainers of the even- ing. A male trio comprised of Don- ald Corneille, Stewart Hope and David Hensle was accompanied by Mrs. Hensle. Their numbers were "Eight Bells," "I Got Shoes," and "Three's a Crowd"; also "Shenendoah" and "Dis Train." A piano solo, "The Glow Worm" was played by Miss Elsie Leach. As -»n encore she gave variations of the number "Sweet Bye and Bye." Violin selections were given by Henry Krack accom- panied by Robert Krack. Numbers were "Cavatino" (Roff); and "In- dian Dawn." John Hess gave as clarinet num- bers, "Nola"; "Billy Hills" and "Rolling Home." An impromptu sketch was given by the Misses Ruth Ellis, Helene Matheson, Winnie Phillips, Lucille Scudder and Mary Alice Wilson. Dr. Elias Mar- golis, rabbi of Temple Emanu-El performed the ceremony at the Hotel Madison, New York City. The pVide, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a satin bridal gown in plush pink, made on princess lines, A yoke of net at the neck continued in a ruching of net which outlined the old-fashioned shoulder line. The sleeves were tight-fitting coming to a point at the wrist. The oval four-yard train was outlined by a double ruching of net. A double veil fell from the coronet which was trimmed" with natural orange blossoms. She carried calla lillies. Miss Evelyn Freydberg, maid of honor and only attendant, wore an old-fashioned lime-colored gown with an old-fashioned shoulder line. The gown was tight-fitting to the knees and ended in a cascade of ruffles. She wore a large off-the- face picture hat of chrystal lace trimmed with flowers of yellow and apricot colors. Her bouquet was of mixed flowers of the same shades. Philip Marcus, brother of the bridegroom was best man and only attendant. After the ceremony, a buffet sup- per and dance was attended by 150 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Marcus left for a six weeks' motor trip to Cal- ifornia. They will return by boat. Mrs. Marcus Is a graduate of Davis High school and attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Mr. Marcus was graduated from City College of New York and Ford- ham Law School. Sponsors Water Carnival at 'Y' Aquatic feats both entertaining and educational were performed last night by members of the Jun- ior swimming classes of the Young Women's Christian Association at the Y. M. C. A., 20 South Second Avenue. Spectators including fathers, mothers and friends lined the pool to watch the events. Mrs. Ella Romoser, director and Miss Marie McAleer, assistant were in charge of the program. The beginners' clothing race was the opening event and was won by Miss Nancy Jane Hobbs with Miss Anne Richardson placing second and Miss MffJdred Phillips, third; the beginners' balloon race had Miss Richardson, first, Miss Hobbs second, and Miss Lydia Fullwood third. The intermediate race was won by Miss Grace Licke, second place, Miss Ruth O'Brien and third place, Miss Alvena Zimmermann; a can- dle race, in which the swimmers held a lighted candle was won by Miss Audrey Picken, second place, Miss Gertrude Lacey and third place, Jean Romoser. A race for advanced students covering a distance of 40 yards was won by Miss Robinette Rog- ers, with Miss Romoser placing second and Miss Marion Ellse Hayes, third; the first heat of the newspaper and umbrella race was won by Miss Picken with Miss Lacey, second; second heat had Miss O'Brien, first and Miss Mir- iam Blackman, second. The winning team of the relay race included Misses Millicent Boyd, Alice Herroder, Helene Sommers and Alvena Zimmer- mann. A finale of the evening's per- formance Included an undress race in which participants jumped into the pool fully clothed, undressed themselves and raced to the finish line. Winner of the race was Miss Picken with Miss Lacey, second and Miss Zimmermann third; con- cluding this demonstration were examples of life saving with ad- vanced swimmers playing the role of the person drowning and the life saver. Judges for the competition were the Misses Ruth Fenwick and Marlon Alles. The committee in charge of the affair included Mrs, F. D. Boyd, Mrs. F, J. Twenty-seven tables were in play and winners at each received pot- ted plants. During the play, Miss Marguer- ite Marsh, executive secretary of the New York diocese of the Church Mission of Help, told of the work done during the last year. She said 406 Westchester indi- viduals, all under twenty-five, had been aided. She emphasized the fact that any assistance received from county residents is for West- chester girls. Miss Marsh pointed out the fact that although this mission is an Episcopal organization, service is given to any girl whether she bo Protestant or of no denomination. Mrs. Francis J. Geiger was gen- eral chairman of the party and her committee included Mrs, Mel- ford L. Brown, Mrs. A. K. Seely, Mrs. J. Raymond Lajvler, all of the Church of the Ascension; Mrs. A. Tennyson Phillips, Mrs. Kenneth Taylor, Mrs. Myra Machan, of Trinity Church, and Mrs. John A. Brashears, Mrs. Leslie V. Bateman and Mrs. Bayard Bonnell, Chapel of St. John the Divine. Frances Maria tt Is Hostess to Zonta

Zonta m e m b e r s met last night at a special meet ing at the home of Miss Frances Marlatt, 28 Chester Street, to hear Miss Marlatt's re­port on the 14th annual convention of Zonta.

Miss Marlatt was the delegate of the local group to the convention attended by 400 representatives of Zonta, which was held June 20 to 23 at the Seigniory Club, Quebec, Canada. In her report last night to the other m e m b e r s she outlined the business of the conference quoting excerpts from the principal speeches .

She told of the speech made by Miss Agnes MacPhail , member of the Canadian House of Parl iament, in which the speaker urged Zon-tians to take an active interest in government of the nation and also their own cities.

"Zonta International has an ag­gregate membersh ip of 3,100 wom­en in business and the professions in 120 clubs in the United States, Honolulu, Canada, Hamburg, Vien­na and Sydney," was a fact that Miss Marlatt quoted from records.

After the report, refreshments were served by the hostess . At the meeting were Dr. Marjorie Nelson, Mrs. Edith Barletta, Miss Vida Warner. Mrs. Sarai Waugh, Miss Josephine Sullivan, Miss E m m a Schmidt and Miss Mildred Miles.

'Go West Young Man' Heeded by Local Boys

Four young men from this city will set out Friday in a newly pur­chased car for California. In the party will be Frederick M. Linder, Jr. , of 335 McClellan Avenue; Wil­l iam Hudson, 371 East Fifth Street; Theodore B. Kirby, 339 McClellan Avenue and Charles McKenna, Jr., 264 South Columbus Avenue.

These men, of col lege age, have chipped in to buy the new auto and in it will start for the West coast to be away about seven weeks . They will stop for a week at Buffalo and Niagara Fal ls , an­other w e e k at Chicago to vsit the World's Fair, and plan to spend at least a week in Hollywood. Re­turning home via a Southern route, they will go to Washington D. C , for a week's s tay . Throughout the trip they will visit and be enter­tained by friends and relatives of their respective famil ies .

Mackenzie performed the cere­mony which was followed by a re­ception.

The annual banquet of the Ep-worth League of the F irs t Metho­dist Episcopal Church was held last night at the Pinesbridge Coun­try Club, N e w c a s t l e . J a m e s Stew­art Hope, toas tmaster , w a s intro­duced to the gues t s by Charles Phillips. Mr. Hope in turn intro­duced the entertainers of the even­ing.

A male trio comprised of Don­ald Corneille, Stewart Hope and David Hensle was accompanied by Mrs. Hensle . Their numbers were "Eight Be l l s ," "I Got Shoes," and "Three's a Crowd"; also "Shenendoah" and "Dis Train."

A piano solo, "The Glow Worm" was played by Miss Els ie Leach. As -»n encore she g a v e variations of the number "Sweet Bye and Bye ." Violin se lect ions were given by Henry Krack accom­panied by Robert Krack. Numbers were "Cavatino" (Roff) ; and "In­dian Dawn."

The bride, g iven ia marriage by ber father, wore her mother's wed­ding gown of Ivory satin with a B e r t h a of Duchess lace. Her great-grandmother had owned the BOSS point and duchess lace which formed her c a p and edged her veil and from her great-grandmotber, also, she inherited the pearl pend­ant she wore . She carried gar­denias and val ley lilies.

Freydberg , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Freydberg, 490 Pros­pect Avenue to Albert Marcus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Marcus, 30 Stuyvesant Plaza, took place at 9 o'clock last night. Dr. El ias Mar-golis, rabbi of Temple Emanu-El performed the ceremony at the Hotel Madison, N e w York City.

The pVide, who was g iven in marriage by her father, wore a satin bridal gown in plush pink, made on princess lines, A yoke of net at the neck continued in a ruching of net which outlined the old-fashioned shoulder line. The s leeves w e r e tight-fitting coming to a point at the wrist. The oval four-yard train was outlined by a double ruching of net. A double veil fell from the coronet which was trimmed" with natural orange b lossoms. She carried ca l la lillies.

Miss Eve lyn Freydberg, maid of honor and only attendant, wore an old-fashioned lime-colored gown with an old-fashioned shoulder line. The gown was tight-fitting to the knees and ended in a cascade of ruffles. She wore a large off-the-face picture hat of chrystal lace t r immed with flowers of yel low and apricot colors. Her bouquet was of m i x e d flowers of the s a m e shades .

Phil ip Marcus, brother of the bridegroom was best man and only attendant.

After the ceremony, a buffet sup­per and dance was attended by 150 guests . Mr. and Mrs. Marcus left for a s ix weeks ' motor trip to Cal­ifornia. They will return by boat.

Mrs. Marcus Is a graduate of Davis High school and attended the Univers i ty of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Mr. Marcus was graduated from City College of N e w York and Ford-ham L a w School. He Is a m e m b e r of Phi Epsilon Pi Fraternity.

Y. W. C. A. Sponsors Water Carnival at 'Y' Aquatic feats both entertaining

and educational were performed last night by members of the Jun­ior s w i m m i n g c lasses of the Young Women's Christian Association at the Y. M. C. A., 20 South Second Avenue.

Spectators including fathers, mothers and friends lined the pool to watch the events. Mrs. El la Romoser , director and Miss Marie McAleer, assistant were in charge of the program.

The beginners' clothing race w a s the opening event and w a s won by Miss N a n c y Jane Hobbs with Miss Anne Richardson placing second and Miss MffJdred Phillips, third; the beginners' balloon race had Miss Richardson, first, Miss Hobbs second, and Miss Lydia Fullwood third.

The intermediate race w a s won by Miss Grace Licke, second place , Miss Ruth O'Brien and third place , Miss Alvena Zimmermann; a can­dle race , in which the s w i m m e r s held a lighted candle w a s won by Miss Audrey Picken, second place , Miss Gertrude Lacey and third place , Jean Romoser.

A race for advanced students covering a distance of 40 yards was won by Miss Robinette Rog­ers, wi th Miss Romoser placing second and Miss Marion El l se Hayes , third; the first heat of the newspaper and umbrel la race was won by Miss Picken with Miss Lacey, second; second heat had Miss O'Brien, first and Miss Mir­iam Blackman, second.

The winning t e a m of the relay race included Misses Millicent Boyd, Alice Herroder, Helene S o m m e r s and Alvena Zimmer­mann.

A finale of the evening's per­formance Included an undress race in which participants jumped into the pool fully clothed, undressed t h e m s e l v e s and raced to the finish line. Winner of the race w a s Miss P icken with Miss Lacey , second and Miss Zimmermann third; con­cluding this demonstration were e x a m p l e s of life saving with ad­vanced s w i m m e r s playing the role of the person drowning and the life saver .

Judges for the competit ion were the Misses Ruth Fenwick and Marlon Alles . The commit tee in charge of the affair included Mrs, F. D . Boyd, Mrs. F , J. Herroder, Mrs. Paul Emerson, Mrs. Alfred Gledhill, Miss Els ie Rippe.

on Stewart's home, 161 Psjmrosa Avenue, w a s the scene yes terday afternoon of a large bridge party sponsored by the three Episcopal churches in this city for the bene­fit of the Westchester branch of the Church Mission of Help.

Twenty-seven tables were in p lay and winners at each received pot­ted plants.

During the play, Miss Marguer­ite Marsh, executive secretary of the N e w York diocese of the Church Mission of Help, told of the work done during the last year .

She said 406 Westchester indi­viduals, all under twenty-five, h a d been aided. She emphasized the fact that any assistance rece ived from county residents is for West ­chester girls .

Miss Marsh pointed out the fact that although this mission is a n Episcopal organization, service i s g iven to any girl whether she bo Protestant or of no denomination.

Mrs. Francis J. Geiger w a s g e n ­eral chairman of the party and her commit tee included Mrs, Mel -ford L. Brown, Mrs. A. K. See ly , Mrs. J.
