The green roof will be made comprised of Centipede grass, and the various types of shrubbery and vegeta-tion that are native to New York and require little watering and sunlight. The green roof will provide insulation as well as a rainwater collection system.
VAST RECYCLED PERMEABLE PAVERS- Made from over 95% recycled materials- 400 inches of water and hour pass through- One third the weight of traditional concrete pavers
CENTIPEDE GRASS- Slow-growing- Requires little mowing and fertilization- Requires adequate sunlight and moist soil
RAINWATER HARVESTING- Underneath extensive green roof- Gutter system implemented in sloped roof
GREEN ROOF- Extensive system 4”-6” with rainwater harvesting system underneath- Insulating properties- Ecological benefits- Increased life expentency of roof- Additional Usable space
SOLAR WATER HEATING- Hot water heated by sun- On sod outside of classroom
- Generate electrical power from solar radiation- On classroom roof- Oriented to true South- Angle can be manually altered based on seasonal position of sun
PV MONITOR- Inverter plugs into PC for PV datalogging- Shows clear display of data measures of small scale PV power plant
