for first Communion and confirmation are also being formed. A child is not automatically enrolled in the sacraments of first Communion and confirmation. If you would like to enroll your child in the sacraments or would like more information, contact Sally Daniel at [email protected] or 301-530-1640. Register your child at http://stjanedechantal.org/faith-formation/religious-ed-k-8/register. 2018-2019 HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY REGISTRATION High School Teen Ministry is a great way for our teens to stay in contact with friends they have made while at St. Jane’s School or CCD, as well as to stay connected to the parish. High School Youth Ministry is not CCD for high schools students. While there are times we focus on a particular topic of faith and life, everything we do is to help the students grow in their faith and live it out, through things like social activities, service opportunities, parish involvement, and retreats. High School Teen Ministry meets about three times a month, mostly on Sundays from 6:00–8:00 pm, with an occasional outing outside of that time. There is a teen leadership team who assists with the youth ministry. Register at http://stjanedechantal.org/faith-formation/religious-ed-k-8/register. CCD TEACHERS, CO-TEACHERS, & ADULT LEADERS CCD teachers, co-teachers and High School Teen Ministry adult leaders are needed for next year. These are vital ministries in the parish so that our young people can learn and grow in their faith. You do not need to have teaching experience to teach the faith, only a love of the faith and a love of being with children. Training and help will be given with materials to use, in-service, as well as a guidebook on planning lessons. The Virtus child protection background check, which can be completed in the summer, must be completed before volunteering can begin. If you would like more information or to volunteer, contact Sally Daniel at [email protected] or 301-530-1640.

MARYLAND CATHOLIC CONFERENCE CANDIDATES SURVEY This Tuesday, June 26, Maryland voters will go to the polls to cast their ballots in the primary election. The Maryland Catholic Conference surveyed the state’s 2018 candidates for U.S. Congress, Governor, and the Maryland General Assembly on their positions regarding issues of interest to Catholics; the responses can be found at www.mdcathcon.org/elections. The Maryland Catholic Conference does not endorse or oppose any candidate, under any circumstance, and no inference of endorsement or opposition should be concluded as a result of the information provided. Before you vote in the June primary election, be sure to review the survey results for your legislative district and learn where the candidates stand on issues of importance to the Catholic Church. Stewardship is a lifestyle, it’s not a program or a process. It’s how we are called to live our lives 24 hours a day,

seven days a week! It challenges us to live “God-centered” lives, not “self-centered” lives. Reflect on your daily activities, do you do them

for the glory of God or for the glory of your own name?

SECOND COLLECTION: PETER’S PENCE The annual Peter’s Pence collection will take place this weekend, June 23/24. Gifts to this annual collection help the Holy Father support victims of war, oppression, natural disasters, and others most in need of assistance. Our participation in this collection gives us an opportunity to be a witness of Our Lord’s love and mercy for the vulnerable and suffering around the world. POOR BOX The Poor Box next weekend, June 30/July 1, will benefit the Msgr. Christopher Fun, which provides need-based scholarships to our parish school.

[The two episodes in today’s Gospel] “a healing and a resurrection — share one core: faith. The message is clear, and it can be summed up in one question: do we believe that Jesus can heal us and can raise us from the dead? The entire Gospel is written in the light of this faith: Jesus is risen, He has conquered death, and by his victory we too will rise again. The Word of God this Sunday invites us to live in the certainty of the Resurrection.”
