The Site Manager/ Site Supervisor

The business will have the Manager/Supervisor as the person high,up the hierarchy. He/she shall be a person with managerial andhuman resource management skills and experience besides beingknowledgeable about proper Solid Waste Management. He/or shewill be expected to undertake the following responsibilities:

The business manager shall coordinate all the aspects of the business in collaboration with the foreman, clerk, Safety officer and Site security office.

The business manager shall also be responsible for the performance of all his/ her subordinates.

The business manager will be expected to be the one responsible for making key business decisions and also answer the 'WHY' questions.

All procuring activities shall happen under manager. Human resource management. Be aware of relevant legislation in proper solid waste management. Training all employees on proper solid waste management.


The foreman and coordinatorTo be considered for the position a candidate will have to prove thathe/she has prior experience in Solid Waste management, Must beknowledgeable Solid Waste management operations, Knowledge ofrelevant legislation in Solid Waste management operations and must becomputer literate and must have a clean and valid driving license. Thisperson shall take charge in the event that the manager/supervisor is noton site. His/her responsibilities are as follows:

Overseeing the Sorting, Separation, and segregation process, Training employees on various activities being performed on the site, Ensuring the diversification of the Solid Waste operations, Inform the Clerk of materials, equipment, repair parts and additional personnel to

be sourced and or procured. Liaise with the maintenance department to initiate repairs. Keep up to date records of volumes of waste received, volume sorted, volume

incinerated, volume of recyclables and so on. Ensure all use equipment for the purpose they were designed. Solve disputes among his subordinates. Perform any other duty as assigned by the management.


The site Safety officerTo be considered for the position a candidate will have to prove that he/she hasprior experience in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). The incumbent musthave at least a Certificate and/or diploma in the safety field, must be computerliterate and must have a clean and valid driving license.The Site Safety Officer will be responsible for:

Employees work in a safe manner, Employees use personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing

their duties, Training employees on safety, Ensuring that all activities on the site do not cause environmental

degradation and pose a threat to the health and safety of employees, Will attend to emergencies and administer First Aid treatment to the

injured, Ensure fire safety on site. Keep stock of the first Aid box components and ensure they are

replenished, Liaise with the health facility in the event that an employee on site

requires medical attention. Perform other safety activities as assigned.


The Clerk

• The Site Clerk will be responsible for sourcing and replenishing of stock, equipment, materials and among other tools of trade,

• will coordinate all stock taking activities, • will maintain the businesses books of

accounts, • will coordinate the general operations of the

business which includes amongst others banking of all cash collections.


Site Security office

Personnel working under this office shall ensure the following:•All the property on site is safe and secure,•Ensure there is no unauthorized access of the site,•That materials on site do not leave out without authorization from the management.


The Site Incinerator OperatorsPersonnel working under this title shall be responsible for thesafe and smooth operation of solid waste incinerators. Theirmajor duty shall be to incinerate all sold waste volumes asdirected by the foreman and make sure that all Wasteincinerated is 98% ash after which it will be tested thendisposed of properly and/or reused as directed by the sitemanagement. The personnel shall ensure:

They incinerate all waste accordingly,Maintain the incinerator to ensure longevity,Manage the disposal of ash,Manage the composting of waste,Keep record of the volumes of waste incinerated daily,

weekly, monthly, yearly and so on.


Equipment operators and transportation

Personnel working under this department musthave valid driver's license and equipmentoperation licenses. They will be responsible for thefollowing:

Safe operation of equipment,Report to the management any damage or identified

deficiency on the equipment or vehicle,Inspect the equipment daily before operation,Transportation of waste in and out of the site,Loading and unloading of waste and/ or materials,Perform other duties as assigned by the management.


The Labour Team

This are the personnel who conduct most of the workwon the site. There number is determined by thevolume of work on site. They ought to be motivated sothat the operations move on smoothly. Personnelworking under this department should be trained onsafety, Solid waste management and be regularly testedto ensure that they are fit and capable of doing thework. They are responsible for conducting the sorting,separation, segregation and keeping the site clean ofsolid waste.


Maintenance Team

This team shall have personnel qualified tohandle equipment repairs and maintain the variousfacilities on-site to ensure operations go onuninterrupted.In this team should have mechanics, plumbers,carpenters, masons, technicians among others whowill be responsible for conducting repairs andservicing the equipment on-site and off-site whiletaking care of any emergencies.
