Before first useRemoveanyadhesivestickers,plasticcoversorcardboardsleevesfromthesoleplate.Ensurethatalladhesiveisremovedbyrubbingthesoleplatewithaclothdampenedwithmethylatedspirits.Fillthewatertankandemptythewater.Thiswillrinseoutanyforeignparticlesremaininginthewatertankfromthemanufacturingprocess.NOTE:Whenturnedonforthefirsttime,yournewironmaygiveoffvapoursforupto10minutes.Thisisduetotheinitialheatingofthematerialsused.Itissafe,notdetrimentaltotheperformanceoftheiron,andwillnotreoccur.

Filling the iron with waterBeforefillingtheironwithwaterensurethepoweristurnedoffandtheplugisremovedfromthepoweroutlet.Theironcanbefilledwithwaterwhileitishot.Placetheirononitsheelandopenthewaterinletcover.Slowlypourwaterintothewaterinletuntilthemaximumwaterlevelisreached.Donotexceedthemaximumwaterlevelindicator.Pushthewaterinletcoverfirmlytoclose.NOTE:Theanti-calccartridgeandspecialsoleplatedesignallowsyoutousetapwaterwithyourSolusironwithoutaffectingthesteamperformance.Howeverinveryhardwaterareas,Sunbeamrecommendstheuseofdistilledwater,orwaterwhichhasbeendemineralised.Forbestperformance,werecommendtheuseofSunbeamWaterDemineraliser,availablefromselectedretailers.Thiswillproduceupto30litresofdemineralisedwater.Donotfilltheironwithfabricconditioner,starchesoranyothersolutionasthesewilldamagethesteammechanism.Donotusecontaminatedwater.

Using your iron1.Inserttheplugintoa230/240voltpower

outletandturnthepoweron.TheLCDscreenandtheorangetemperaturealertlight(locatedontopofthehandle)willilluminatetoindicatethattheironisswitchedonandheating.

2.Usethetemperature+/-buttonstoselectthedesiredtemperature.ThebarsontheLCDwillflashastheironheatsuptotheselectedtemperaturesetting.Aseachincrementaltemperatureisreachedthebarswilldisplaysolidly.Whenthetemperaturealertlightchangestogreen,theironhasreachedtheselectedtemperatureandisreadytouse.

NOTE:Whenthetemperatureischangedfromahighsettingtoalowertemperaturesettingduringironing,thetemperaturealertlightwillchangetored.Thisindicatesthattheironiscoolingtotheselectedtemperature.Toensurethattheironhasreachedtheselectedtemperatureandisnottoohot,waituntilthetemperaturealertlightilluminatesgreenbeforeironing.

Dry ironingFollowsteps1and2above.3.SelectDRYonthesteamdial.

Thiswillcutoffthesteamflowifthereiswaterinthetank.

Steam ironingFollowsteps1and2above.NOTE:Whensteamironing,ensurethatthetemperatureissettothesilksettingorabove,andthatthetankisatleast1/4fullofwater.3.Turnthesteamdialtothedesired

steamsetting.

water.2.Selectthedesiredtemperatureandwait

untilthetemperaturealertlightilluminatesgreen.

3.Squeezetheshotofsteamtriggerseveraltimeswiththeirononthesoleplatetoprimethepump.

Note:Ifthetankhasrundry,itmaybenecessarytore-primethepumpafterfillingtheironwithwater.Using the spray mistThespraymistcanbeusedwhetherdryorsteamironingtopre-dampenhardtoironfabrics.1.Ensurethetankisatleast1/4fullof

water.2.Pressthespraybuttonduringironingto

releaseafinemistfromthespraynozzle.

Thesafetyauto-offmechanismautomaticallyturnstheironoffifyouforget.Theironwillautomaticallyshutoffifleftontheheelrest(vertical)for15minuteswithoutbeingmoved,orintheironingposition(horizontal)for30seconds,orifitisknockedontoitsside(See figure 2).Shouldyouleavetheironunattended,theLCDscreenandtheredtemperaturealertlightwillflash,andawarningbeepwillsoundtoletyouknowthattheauto-offfunctionhasbeenactivated.Powertotheiron'sheatingelementwillbecutandtheironwillstarttocool.After30secondsthefrequencyofthebeepalarmwilldecrease.

Oncetheironismovedthepowerwillreconnect.Allowtheirontoheatuntilthetemperaturealertlightilluminatesgreen,andcontinueironingasnormal.

Cleaning the steam holes Toremovebuildupfromthesteamholeswhichmayaffectsteamperformance,useacottonwooltipmoistenedinmethylatedspirits.

Cleaning the Resilium® soleplateWipewithasoftdampclothandwipedry.

Caution:Donotusescouringpads,abrasivesorharshcleanerstocleanyourResilium®,soleplate,asthesewillscratchanddamagethesurface.

Troubleshooting

Ifthefollowingconditionsoccursimultaneously,itindicatesapossiblefaultwithinthethermistor.Theseconditionswillpersistuntilthesoleplatethermistorisworkingcorrectly.• Thetemperaturealertlightflashesred

continuously,and• TheLCDbacklightremainslit,and• Thetemperaturecannotbechangedfrom

theMAXsetting,andthecirculargraphicflashesandcountsuptotheMAXsegmentcontinuously.

Toresettheiron,simplyswitchitoffatthepoweroutlet,switchitbackonagainandwait15seconds.Theironshouldnowoperatenormally.Ifthefaultoccursregularlyreturntheiron,alongwithyourpurchasereceipt,totheplaceofpurchaseforareplacementorrefund.

Note:thefaultconditionsdescribedabovearedifferenttowhatoccurswhenthesafetyauto-offfeatureisactivated.Whentheironisintheauto-offmodetheLCDbacklightwillflash,thetemperaturealertlightonthehandlewillflashred,andawarningbeepwillsound.

Tip # 27 - Iron shirts like a proStartwiththecollar,workingfromtheouteredgesintothemiddle.Irontheshouldernext,followedbythecuffsandsleeves.Placethecollaratthenarrowendoftheboardsothatonefrontpaneloftheshirtisextendedflat.Ironthefrontpanelfromshouldertoshirttail.Rotatetoironthebackoftheshirt.Rotateandcompletetheremainingfrontpanel.

Tip # 34 - Tips for T-shirtsStraightenseamsont-shirtsbeforehangingouttodry.Toavoiddamagetoprintedgraphicsandlogosturnthet-shirtinsideoutandironthereversesideoftheprint.Neverironareasofyourt-shirtwhereperspirationmarksarevisibleastheheatoftheironwillpermanentlyfixthestain.

Tip # 54 - Hung out to dry Whenwashingiscomplete,removeshirtsfromthemachineimmediately,shakethemoutandhangthemoncoathangerstoairdry–thiswillkeepwrinklestoaminimum.

Tip # 18 - Selecting the right temperatureIfyouareunsureofthecorrectsettingforaparticulargarment,testasmallareasuchasaseamorinsidehembeforeironingavisiblearea.Startwithalowtemperatureandslowlyincreasetheheattofindthebestsetting.

Tip # 33 - Don’t be afraid to iron silkDon’tbeafraidtoironsilk.Althoughdelicateinappearance,silkisthestrongestandmostresilientofallnaturalfibres.Toachievethebestresults,settoalowcottonsettinganduseregularshotsofsteam.Alwaysuseapressingclothtoavoidshinemarks.

Tip # 13 - Ironing the seamAlwayspressseamsinthesamedirectiontheyweremade.Whenagarmentisproduced,thefibreswillnaturallysettleinthedirectiontheywereinitiallypressed,soit’sbestnottoironagainstthegrain.

Tip # 26 - Sort types of fabricSortarticlestobeironedaccordingtothetypeoffabric.Thiswillreducetheneedtoadjustthetemperatureconstantly.Startwitharticlesrequiringlowertemperaturesandworkyourwaythroughtoitemsrequiringhighersettings.

Tip # 2 - Summer frocks and frillsSteamisthekeywhenironingdelicatesummerfabricssuchasmuslin,cottonandlinen.Don’tpressdownwiththeiron,simplyhoverabovethegarmentandsteamitusingaverticalshotofsteam.Ruffling,netting,tulleorintricatehanddetailingisalsobestironedusingthismethod.

Tip # 5 - Pressing your winter woolliesSteamiscrucialwhenpressingyourwinterwoollies.Woollengarmentscanbehungandsteamedusingtheverticalshotofsteamfeature.Aftersteaming,brushthegarmentwithyourhandtoplumpupwoollenfibres.Ifironingthegarmentflatitisbesttouseapressingcloth.Don’tbeafraidtoapplypressure–steamandhold.

Tip # 42 - Table settings to impressToavoidunwantedcreasesalwaysironyourtableclothaftertakingitoutofthecupboard.Adinnerpartyisaspecialoccasion,sotreatthetableclothasyouwouldyourownoutfit.Forbestresults,laytowelsacrossyourtableandironthetableclothoverthetowels.Thiswillsaveyoutimeandensureabeautifullypresentedtablesetting.
