Company with great vitality and bold proactive philosophySince the 1980s, the company has continued to expand through a series of mergers and acquisitions. The merger with three major carbonated soft drinks producers gave rise to Britannia Soft Drinks Limited (1986), now owned by Britvic. It acquired the Tango brand and entered into an exclusive bottling arrangement for Pepsi and 7Up in Britain in 1987. It later acquired the Robinson brand, Orchid Drinks, Red Devil and the Irish C&C Soft Drinks - now Britvic Ireland. Britvic was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2005 and has since extended its commercial operations to continental European markets.

Thirty years of business collaboration with SidelThe earliest contacts between Britvic and Sidel go back as far as the 1980s, when the British group acquired several standalone machines from Simonazzi: fillers, pasteurisers, palletisers/depalletisers and craters/decraters. The latest machine acquired is a sixth Universal SBO 20/24 blower, with an output of 36,000 bph. Installed in the company’s Dublin facility in a record time of only two weeks, the machine immediately produced some remarkable performances in terms of energy savings and cost efficiency. The company also chose to convert all its bottles to containers with the new patented Sidel Soft Plus base, thus significantly reducing blowing pressure requirements. As a result of this low energy usage and the savings made by the blowers in air consumption, Britvic in Ireland has been able to reduce energy use and its subsequent costs. The new high-speed blower was part of a broader Britvic Ireland investment plan, which included a major project in the Dublin facility, where £8 million was allocated in building a best-in-class manufacturing facility.
