Holy Mother of the Good Shepherd, turn your motherly care to
our Archdiocese of Boston. Intercede for us to the Lord of the
Harvest to send more laborers to the harvest. Inspire vocations
in our time. Let the word of your Son be made flesh anew in the
lives of persons anxious to proclaim the Good News of everlast-
ing life. Draw them near to the heart of your Son so that they
can understand the beauty and joy that awaits them when the
Lord Jesus calls them to be His witness.
Amen

ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME—JUNE 17, 2018
Love in Chaos
Our world is often filled with distractions. These distractions pull us in many directions. The result is a sense of chaos as Jesus was experiencing in last week’s scene from the Gospel of Mark. Jesus does not feed into the chaos. Why so? Jesus is a man of prayer. He quiets the crowd with His authoritative voice rooted in love. Whatever form we take with prayer: silence, words, music, scripture reading, spiritual direction, reflection or spiritual read-ing, this is a development of our relationship with Jesus, the source of love. Chaos is nothing new, but the calm in the storms of life is our prayer. This prayer centers us in our per-sonal and communal relationship with Jesus. We will still face the ups and downs of life. Regardless, when we are rooted in prayer, we face every experience of life rooted in the love of Jesus, the pleasant and the unpleasant alike. May we frequent the sacraments, especially Holy Communion so that we will grow in our relationship with Jesus and then offer His love to a world that is often chaotic. May God bless you. Peace, Fr. Brian
Saint Vincent DePaul Society
Thank you for your continued generosity to St Vincent DePaul with your monetary donations and collection of food staples. Many peo-ple in our parishes benefit on account of your thoughtful giving. Please remember that you may bring food staples to the parish on the third Sunday of each month. Of course, you may bring goods anytime during the month. May God bless you!
Home Visits — If you, a friend or relative is
unable to make it to Mass regularly and would like to re-ceive Holy Communion, please contact Fr. Brian at 617-666-2087. One of the priests will bring you the sacrament as well as offer confession and the Sacrament of the Sick. As a community, let us continue to pray for those who are not able to worship with us regularly. May God bless you!
St. Vincent de Paul Society: On June 16-17, 2018, at all Masses and on the third week-end of each month, food will be collected and distributed to St. Ann's, St. Catherine and St. Joseph food pantries. This month, the following items are requested: boxes of rice mix, macaroni and cheese, canned or dried soup mix, and peanut butter and jelly. All items may be placed at the back of the church. Thank you for your generosity.

As part of our Disciples in Mission initiative within the Arch-diocese we have 3 committees here in our Collaborative; Faith Formation: chaired by Adam Dupre, the aim of which is to help lead members into an encounter with Jesus that leads to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Vocations Committee: chaired by Fr. Dave Callahan, which is responsible for creating a culture of vocations with in our col-laborative. Hospitality Committee: chaired by Fr. Richard Curran, which seeks to create a warm communal spirit and welcoming attitude just as the Apostles and disciples did in Jesus’ time. Each of these committees aims to help draw people into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. They help us in fulfilling our universal call to holiness. That’s right; we are all called to be saints. That may seem like a daunting task but, if we take it day by day and have a dialogue with God, asking what it is that He wants, it gets easier to be holy. I say this because that is what God calls us to; Jesus tells us so in the Gospel in Matthew 5:48. St. Augustine tells us that , “our hearts are restless until they rest in God.” Our entire being calls out to God, but we seem to fail in finding him because of our chaotic lives and because we are easily distracted. Jesus and the Apostles did not go at it alone; they had a commu-nity to support them. The disciples were the church, the faithful, the “us” of yesterday. In our collaborative we have many oppor-tunities to grow our community simply by saying hi to the peo-ple next to us, or by choosing to volunteer, or by joining one of our committees. There are also small groups that have launched. These small groups aim to do as Jesus and the early Church did in growing the community. If you are interested in growing in your faith or getting to know the true essence of community please contact me at 617-666-2087 or [email protected] God bless, Adam Dupré
