The present manufacturer’s information applies to all sonic tips and cooling adapters supplied by Gebr. Brasseler. Depending on the application, these are either in the risk group semi-critical B (e.g. tips for prophylaxis, work on fissures, work on interproximal surfaces, preparation of cavities, veneers and crown cores) or in the risk group critical B (e.g. tips for surgical, periodontal or endodontic treatments).
Important note: The cleaning of sonic tips and cooling adapters has to be carried out with greatest care. Sonic tips and cooling adapters delivered in non-sterile condition have to be prepared prior to first use.
The end of a product’s service life depends on the degree of damage and wear.
Frequent reprocessing does not affect the performance of these instruments.
Hygienic precautions according to the provisions valid in your country have to be followed.
Place sonic tips and cooling adapter in a cleaning/disinfection tank (Fräsator) filled with a suitable detergent/disinfectant (e.g. Komet DC1/alkaline, aldehyde-free) immediately after use in the mouth to prevent drying of residues on the instruments (protein fixation). Hold sonic tips and cooling adapter at an angle when placing them into the liquid to ensure that all hollow spaces are reached. It is recommended to repro cess the instru-ments within one hour of use at the very latest. The instruments should be in the clean-ing/disinfection tank (Fräsator) when transported to the site where the reprocessing is to take place.
The further reprocessing should be carried out mechanically (according to the recom-mendations of the Robert Koch Institute).

Made in Germany, the SonicLine compris-es a comprehensive range of high-quality sonic tips that cover a multitude of indica-tions. The instruments of the SonicLine owe their effective cutting power to the fact that they can perform elliptical move-ments in all directions. Thanks to their clear labelling, the sonic tips are easy to identify. The order number is laser etched onto the sonic tips. Tips coated with fine grain are provided with a red dot for identification. The sonic tips can be reprocessed in a Miele washer/disinfector by means of a rinse adapter which is part of a validated procedure. Instructions on the reprocessing of sonic tips can be ordered from the manufacturer.

According to Dr. Domenico Massironi, the “best synergy effects are created by a combination of rotary instruments and sonic instruments”. We have implemented Dr. Massironi’s concept by jointly develop-ing special sonic tips for the preparation of crown cores.
In close cooperation with Prof. Günay of the Medical University of Hanover, we developed special tips with working parts that are bisected lengthwise for both mesial and distal use. These tips ideally comple-ment the kit 4384A.

Recommendations for use:• First prepare tooth with rotary instru-
ments of congruent shape• Start up sonic tip prior to application
to the tooth, providing plenty of spray cooling
• Power setting 1 : positioning and finishing of the crown margin
Advantages:• The oscillating function of these sonic
tips allows gentle positioning of the crown margin while protecting the soft tissue, thus avoiding any damage to the gingiva even in case of direct contact
• The tips with working parts that are bisected lengthwise do not damage the adjacent teeth
• The oscillating elliptical vibrations of the sonic tips create an irregular sur-face structure which promotes perfect penetration and adhesion of the fixing cement
Indications:• Exact positioning and finishing of the
prosthetic margin after supragingival preparation with rotary instruments of identical shape
• Interproximal trimming by means of sonic tips bisected lengthwise (mesial or distal)

Sonic tips for veneers, developed by Dr. Schwenk and Dr. Striegel, Nuremberg
Advantage: The combination of fine grit and a low
oscillation amplitude results in the crea-tion of a very fine surface, which is an indispensible precondition for a tight prosthetic margin.
Indication: Finishing after preparation of the
veneers with rotary instruments of identical shape.
Recommendations for use:• First prepare the veneers with rotary
instruments the usual way• Shaping with the instrument

ments the usual way• Start up sonic tip prior to application
to the tooth, providing plenty of spray cooling
• Power setting 1 : finishing of surfaces and fine trimming
• Power setting 2 : removal of large amounts of substance
Tip: For endodontic treatments, we recommend our comprehensive endodontic range.
14 | SonicLine14 | SonicLine – Endodontics
Advantages:• Even more efficient rinsing of the
root canal• Made of highly flexible nickel titanium,
with a titanium-nitride surface coating• Small instrument diameter for rinsing
narrow root canals• The same instrument diameter for all
canals, thus eliminating the need to change the instrument
• Safe end and absence of toothing to avoid inadvertent removal of substance from the canal wall
• Laser marks to indicate the depth
Indication: Activation of rinsing liquids during
endodontic treatments. Thanks to sound activated movements
and micro currents, the efficiency of rinsing liquids inside the root canal is greatly increased, safely removing bacteria, residues of pulp tissue, loose dentin chips and the smear layer.
Recommendations for use:• First, treat the root canal in the usual
manner by means of an established system (e.g. Komet AlphaKite or EasyShape)
• Rinse according to an existing rinsing protocol to which the sound activated preparation of the root canal has been added
• Do not insert the rinsing tip in activated condition. Do not start up the sonic tip until it is in the canal
• Use power setting 1 only• Work with gentle up and down
movements
