60kWp Grid Connect PV System in SOS Children’s Village Mombasa
To implement this project, ASD conducted a site audit and developed an initial system design. In partnership with Asantys, ASD provided system configurations, procurement, delivery and installation of the 60kWp system. In addition, ASD assisted SOS Children’s Village to arrange the net-metering agreements with the Kenya Ministry of Energy and Kenya Power Company (KPLC). After services were also provided with back-up maintenance and system assurance.
ASD’s engineering department was hired by SOS Children’s Village in Mombasa to design and deliver Kenya’s first commercial net-metered solar PV system. The 60kWp SMA grid-connect solar PV system was designed to offset the client's electricity expenditures by generating a surplus of power during the day and feeding it into the Kenyan national grid. The project was funding by Danone as part of an initiative to “green” SOS Villages around Africa.
