Letters to Home Hi Mom and Dad, Change is good! Change is trying! And Change is emotional! As you know, Pastor Sheri is moving on to a new church appointment at Battleground UMC beginning July 1. As I can say for certain God is in this and that is all we ask. God is in as much of our lives as we allow God to have influence. Does this mean that God is not powerful? No, it means that God moves in ways where we open our hearts to God. I am reminded of the Old Testament Story of Ruth, who faced very uncertain times after her husband and sons died. However, she responded in faith and went back to the holy land to find hope. This is found in Ruth 1:16-19. This scripture contains the classic phrase “Wherever you go, I will go, wherever you live, I will live. Your people, will be my people, and your God will be my God.” When God is in the new thing and we are faithfully following God ,we may not see where it is going, but we do know that God is with us and in it. Pastor Sheri has a new opportunity and she is following God, who said Go! We are blessed by God for her ministry and we will discover the next phase for ministry at Delphi UMC. The team called Staff Parish relations has been praying about the direction we will take. It has been one in which we are considering what God is doing in the context of our mission, vision, and values. We will continue to care for family ministry at Delphi UMC, but we are still looking for how. In the meantime, great ministry has taken place with Father-Child camp, Jamaican missions, Teen camp, and Vacation Bible School. So many of you have given your heart to children and youth over this last month. Thank you! Now let’s together continue to walk by faith in our personal lives and in our community life. When change happens, it is very hard to see where God is, but when we look, we will see God. Ruth and Naomi looked and found God keeping the covenant promises. God has made those to you as well and, when you look, you will see God in your marriage, your family, your business, and your relationships. All helping us to see God walking with us...

VBS UPDATE At this year’s Shipwrecked VBS, we all had a wonderful tropical time, discovering how Jesus rescues us when life gets stormy. We learned that “When you’re lonely… Jesus rescues”, “When you worry… Jesus rescues”, “When you struggle… Jesus rescues”, “When you do

wrong… Jesus rescues. ” I can’t begin to say thank you enough to the many volunteers that made this year’s VBS possible. A huge shout out goes to Ruth, Sarah and Shelia for their work in prepping and creating, organizing and recruiting ahead of time and during VBS. Also a huge thank you to Mark Baker, Bethany Owens, Jill Widmer, Gerlinda Conde, Jackson Cross, Andy Garrison, and my family for the time they put in to help with all the decorating. Thank you all for the food, snacks and supplies people donated to make this week a super week.

Also a special thanks to all of those who gave of their time this week to serve in many ways and to be the hands and feet of Christ this week. Many seeds were planted and hearts changed thanks to all of you. We had an average of 114 kids and we had 150 volunteers help in some way, and we all felt your prayers and encouragement throughout the week.

Thanks to the generosity of the children and their families and many of you we were able to collect $294.00 for our mission project this year. Our mission was to help support the Boys and Girls Club in Nome, Alaska, where Alisha Rohrer serves as a missionary. This will help to feed kids meals and provide supplies for activities in their after school program.

I also want to thank you for sharing your children with us for the week. They put smiles on our faces and joy in our hearts! It truly is a blessing to be a part of such a great church family. Thank you all so very much! Your support makes all the difference! Nina German

July 8: Family Movie Day Enjoy a quick flick with popcorn and candy!

July 15: Family Feud Day! We’ll divide up into teams and have our own game show!

July 23: Family Sundae Sunday! Come and get to know other families while making your own ice cream!

July 29: Make and Take Enjoy making a food creation to take home with you!

**These events will take the place of the children’s Growth Point.

Let’s spend the summer in fellowship with each other!

What’s Happening in Children’s Ministry? Monthly Morsel

Delphi UMC, I want to thank all of you for the many ways you allowed me to be your pastor. As the years go by, I will look back fondly on our time together; I trust the same will be true for you. These past 11 years have been a blessing to me and my family. Not only have my own children grown up at DUMC, I have also watched so many other children grow into young adults and some even start their own family! (Wow, now I’m sounding old). I’ve also had the privilege of officiating at some of your weddings, baptizing your children and sadly, at times, burying your loved ones. I treasure the times of walking along life’s journey with you and loving you through the ups and downs of life. We’ve shared laughs, tears and even uncertainty together. You will always remain close to my heart. Even though change is a constant in life and people come in and out of our lives, there is one who remains with us always and who never changes. Jesus promised to never leave nor forsake us and gave us His word that He will be with us always. And it is Jesus that unites us together. Though I will not be with you as your pastor, we will remain connected through the Spirit of Jesus as fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and partners in the work of the Kingdom. I know God has a plan for each one of you and for this church. I pray that the Lord grant you wisdom as you continue to move forward in ministry. I believe Family Life Ministries will continue through the servants and leaders God will raise up. I look forward to hearing all the ways God continues to work in and through the people of Delphi UMC. I leave you with this: I love each and every one of you. I am humbled that I was allowed the privilege to serve you, love you, lead you and pray with you as one of your pastors. I will cherish our time together. You have also supported me, encouraged me, taught me many things, and loved me, my husband, and our 3 daughters very well, and we are very grateful. Now we press on, as Paul says to the Philippians, we press on in our call to love as Christ loves. We press on to reach a world that is hurting and to go where Christ will call us, trusting the Spirit of Christ within us and the grace of Christ to lead us. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. ~Ephesians 3:20-21

Project Purse has been so uplifting and an experience

of supportive mission teamwork for the church family. Recognizing a need others in the community have and taking action to show genuine concern and offer hope is

supportive fellowship! Thirty-four purses have been delivered to Open Arms in Kokomo and ten others have been given to Carroll County Corrections. Thanks to all who assisted with making this project a reality.
