Carefully clean the fiber with an ethanol-soaked sheet of paper.
2/ Gluing process
2.1. Epoxy preparation
Preparation of Epoxy supplied in plastic container
Remove Epoxy divider. This is a 2 part separated epoxy with a divider. The divider must be removed to allow the epoxy to be mixed .
Mix the Epoxy. Using the divider, thoroughly mix the Epoxy until both parts are blended into a smooth uniform colour.
Preparation of Epoxy supplied in jars
Mix 50% (/weight) of Hardener (Black) with 100% of resin (Red) until both parts are blended into a smooth uniform colour.

2.2. Gluing Process
Insert the mixture into the syringe (do not forget to installthe syringe tip). Remove air pockets from the syringe by holding the syringe tip upward and ejecting epoxy until itruns clear and free.
Insert the tip of the syringe into the back of the contact until the bottom of the syringe is reached.
Press the plunger to inject the adhesive into the contact until a small bead appears on the contact tip (do not leave any adhesive on the external cone of the end probe).
Release the plunger and carefully remove the syringe while you distribute the adhesive inside the ferrule of the contact.
Clean the optical fiber with an optical paper dampened withEthanol. Using the syringe, apply a thin coating of glue to the Aramid yarn.
Insert the fiber into connector until the bottom of the fiber isreached. Do not turn up the kevlar during its introduction.
You have to re-established the bead of glue with the syringe ifit is necessary.
Install the protective cover 80 WT 0009.
3/ Crimping of the contact
Take cable: deposit one drop of adhesive to encapsulate the kevlar braid lightly.
Introduce plug, glass braid, cable in contact until it bottoms.
Hold cable with contact assembly horizontally in one hand.
With the other hand take pliers.
Introduce contact with cable in the position B of the pliers (80 WS 0002).
Crimp 1 mm of the bottom of the contact.
Open pliers, extract crimped contact.
4/ Polymerization of adhesive
Wait 1 hour before putting the harnesses in the curing oven 80 WT 0008. Hold the connectors vertically (contact downwards) during the polymerisation.
Put the assembly into oven for 15 minutes at 120° C or 1 Hourat 80° C. Use the holding tool 80 WT-00083 to protect thecable on the rear part of the contact.
Allow to cool for 30 seconds minimum.
Extract silicones sleeve probe nose.
5/ Polishing process
5.1. Score the fiber
Score the fiber with an alumina blade, 80 WC 0004.
Score the fiber close to the connector tip and at the glue bead.
Slice fiber crosswise applying a moderate pressure on fiber. It should not break in any case during this operation. To finishremoving it, pull the fiber.
5.2. Coarse polishing
Position blue disk (grain size 9 µ) (80 WP 0014) on Plexiglassupport 80 WP 0005.
Clean the support and the disk with ethanol to be sure there isno dust between the support and the disk.
Clean the polishing tool 80 WP 0009 and the Plexiglas supportwith and optical paper dampened with Ethanol.
Moisten the polishing paper using a paper dampened withEthanol.
Insert the plug in the polishing tool.
Start polishing without applying pressure on the plug, makingfigures "8" on the paper.
Stop this operation when a bright circle of glue appears on thetip face.
5.3. Fine polishing
Repeat step 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the rough polishing using whitepaper 80 WP 0015 (grain 0.3 µm) instead of the bluepaper.
Polish, repeating the light figure "8" until the glue is
polished away.

6/ Visual Inspection
Check with an interferometer the front face geometry of the contact. If the front face is convex (protruding) repeatthe fine polishing process.
Examine the surface texture with an eye-piece or a portablemicroscope 80 WL 0001 equipped with specific probe 80 WL 0023. Be sure there is no streaks or splinters.
7/ Mounting process
Insert and extract the optical contacts in the connector by hand or with the white standard tool 8522-12 (M81969 14-04).

7 - CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
1/ Insertion/extraction of the contact
1.1. Tooling
Possibility of inserting / extracting the contact without any tool(by hand) or by means of a standard tool (M81969 14-04)depending on contact density of the connector.
Use of standard tool (M81969 14-04): slide the tool on the cable
and on the rear part of the boot. The tool shall engage on the key
of the boot.
Caution: radius of curvature of the fiber shall be respected during theinsertion / extraction of the contact
1.2. Contact extraction
Push the boot (or the tool). The opticalcontact shall "enter" inside the insert fromrear side (2 mm displacement).
The optical contact disengages when it isunscrewed counter clockwise (rotation of 60°).
Pull the boot in order to totally disengage the contact fromthe cavity. Pull the cable if necessary.
1.3. Contact insertion
Clean the optical contact first with alcohol and optical paper.
Engage the key of the flange inside the larger key
hole on the rear side of the insert.
Push the boot and compress the spring until engaging the bayonet inside the cavity.
Both pins of the bayonet shall engage inside both key hole ofthe rear cavity
The optical contact engages when it is screwed clockwise(rotation of 60°).
Rear part of the bayonet shall be visible after insertion.
2/ Easy cleaning of the contact
(without extracting the contact)
Use dry air to remove possible speck of dust.
Clean the front face of the contact (male or female insert) with optical paper and alcohol.
