Cape Town is the second largest city in SouthAfrica and is the capital of the Western Cape Province, as well as being the leg-islative capital of South Africa where the Houses of Parliament are located.Cape Town is located in the south-west corner of the country near the Cape ofGood Hope. It is the most southern city in Africa. For thousands of years, CapeTown was inhabited by the Strandloper, ancestors of Kalahari Bushmen. CapeTown's European history began in 1652, when Jan van Riebeeck established atrading post there on behalf of the VOC, or the Dutch East Indies Company. Thefirst European settlers were mainly Dutch, with some French Huguenots thathad to flee from religious persecution in their home country.

uinely powerful and amazing Victoria Falls,

marks the end of the upper course of the

Zambezi River. It is here, that the deceptively

calm river waters rush to tumble over the 1.25

mile long gorge. This sensational raw energy cre-

ates a thunderous roar as the whole Zambezi

wildly crashes into the abyss creating the aptly

names “Boiling Pot’ at the bottom. An enormous

spray cloud, sometimes over a mile high,

explodes into the air from the water as it reaches

the bottom of the bubbling Batoka Gorge – which

is twice as high and long as Niagara Falls.
