Today we listened to speeches from 34 of our Year 5 students who have nominated to be a 2018 Student Leader. Each student presented their speech to Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 stu-dents. Following their speeches, students from Year 3 to Year 6 cast their vote. At next week’s assembly, Mr Harvey will announce the successful candidates who have been chosen by their peers to be Student Leaders in 2018. Congratulations to all students for preparing and delivering their speech in a mature and confi-dent manner. It was great to hear students make mention of our school’s virtues. This was very encouraging to see students valuing this program
The weather was perfect for the Surf to Surf Fun Run last
Sunday.
Once again Mrs Duncan promoted the event amongst our
students and as a result we had 30 students participating in
the Primary School Division 5km event.
SBPS won the handicap shield for the most students
participating. It is the 7th year our school has won this
award.
Well done to everyone who participated in this event.
All money raised from nomination fees will benefit the
Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club.

Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest child safety awareness day of its type. Nationally more than 1,000,000 people par-
ticipate in this event. It is about education children and adults on ways of keeping kids safe through child safety educa-
tion initiatives and a bit of fun. We aim to help empower our children to Recognise, React and Report if they feel
something is not right. Day for Daniel is also an opportunity for all Australians to make a statement that crimes against
children are not acceptable in modern Australia.
On Friday, 27th October, we will support the Day for Daniel at SBPS. Everyone is asked to wear something red to
show our support and bring a gold coin donation. All money collected on the day will be donated to the Daniel
Morcombe Foundation. The foundation supports education and support services.
