WELCOME! You are now a member of the 2020-2021 South Haven High School Purple Pride Marching Band, one of the most active and honored organizations at South Haven. Included here you will find information about next year, and a calendar for the Summer/Fall.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON! While there are still a lot of questions about what is to come in terms of school, band, sports, and our day-to-day activities, we must keep moving forward. Until we are told otherwise, we must plan as if everything will return to normal by the dates listed. If we find out that these plans must

change, we will notify all members of those changes at that time.

COMING SOON... Over the summer, a letter will be sent home with more detailed information regarding band camp and marching band next year. This will include band camp fees and how to purchase marching shoes, a lyre, flip folder, reeds, oil or anything else you may need to be successful.

Please be prepared for the Blueberry Festival Parade. Our uniform will be the band t-shirt (provided), khaki (tan color) shorts, short white socks and standard tennis shoes. Neutral color

sunglasses will be allowed for this performance.

DRUM CORPS INTERNATIONAL The Drum Corps International World Championship trip will NOT take place this year as the entire DCI season as been cancelled.

BAND CAMP? Band camp is where the marching show is

learned, from the first note to the first step. Because of the massive volume of information learned at band camp, both mentally and physically, it is required for all students to attend. This is not the time to schedule appointments or trips. Band camp runs from 8:00am-5:00pm with breakfast, lunch and several snacks provided. Each night there will be an optional activity for students to attend, helping the band come together both on the field and off. Typical night activities include: a bonfire, swimming in the pool, bowling, section night, t-shirt making, etc. It is recommended to plan on attending these very fun events! Take note of all the dates and times listed to the right. If there are any conflicts, they must be communicated before the end of the 2018-2019 school year in order to be excused, if approved. Students that do not attend camp, a performance, or miss rehearsal, may be placed as an alternate and must wait to receive a position on the field when/if one opens up.

sure you mark your calendars.

MARCHING BAND FEES? Approximate Costs, EXACT prices will be

sent in a letter over the summer. Please come prepared for registration the first day of band camp. All items are required!

Marching Fee: $40. Covers only a fraction of the cost of staff, drill, gloves, food, supplies, prizes, show shirt, etc.

Marching Shoes: $35. It takes a special shoe to make the band look right and move right. Shoes will be purchased at band camp. We will also have a trade booth.

Flip Folder/Lyre: $5-15 each. Depends on the instrument it fits. Most students have these already.
