TOUR ITINERARY 4 Nights Discovery Tour

Day 01: Arrive Cochin

Arrive Cochin airport. After clearing immigration and custom formalities, you will be meet and greet by our company representative, traditional welcome garlanding. Transfer to hotel by AC transport. Cochin is popularly referred to as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, Cochin is located on the west cost of India in the beautiful state of Kerala. The city can be regarded as the commercial and industrial capital of Kerala. Though Cochin had been an important roadstead in days gone by, it became a natural harbor only when nature decreed it so. Muziris (present-day Kodungalloor on the mouth of the Periyar River), 40 km north of Cochin, was the center of trade with ancient Rome in the products like pepper and pearls, fine silks, cotton, muslin, honey, oil, betel, tortoise shell, cinnamon leaf, black pepper, ginger grass, and indigo Overnight at hotel. Day 02: Cochin/Alleppey (60 Kms/1.5 Hrs)

Morning after breakfast, drive to Alleppey and board the houseboat. Enjoy sailing through the day on the serene and paradise like backwaters of Kerala. Alleppey with its tranquil, deeply shaded maze of canals and backwaters has rightly been called the Venice of the East. Heavily-laden cargo wallams ply these waters, laboriously punted or tugged by sails as heavily patched as counterpanes, sharing their passage with fishing skiffs, ancient chugging ferries and paddled dug-outs carrying goods to market. The beach here has dense palm groves at one end and an ancient towering lighthouse at the other. Alleppey is also a centre for coir making Dinner and overnight will be on the Houseboat.

Day 04: Kumarakom/Cochin (60 Kms/1.5 Hrs)

There are a couple of streets of picture-postcard houses out of another age, in 17th century Dutch and traditional Kerala styles. Visit St. Francis Church the oldest European Church in India. It has several antiquities including a wealth of records. These include a palm-leaf title deed the local Raja gave the Portuguese in 1503. See the Chinese Fishing Nets, unique to this part of Kerala and living symbols of a centuries-old Chinese influence on this coast. Evening enjoy live Kathakali Dance performance. Overnight at hotel. Morning after breakfast, drive to Periyar, arrive Periyar and check-in at hotel. Afternoon visit the local spice market and spice plantation. Periyar is spread out over an area of 777 sq. km. in the Thekkady district, on the Tamil Nadu border. A pleasant place to escape from the madding crowds of the cities and towns, Periyar is a nice place to cruise on the lake, a place to enjoy a jungle walk with an opportunity to see the wild animals. Set high in the ranges of the Western Ghats, in Kerala, is the Periyar famous for its National Park and Tiger Reserve. The park has a picturesque lake at the heart of the sanctuary. Formed with the building of a dam in 1895, this reservoir meanders around the contours of the wooded hills, providing a perennial source of water for the local wildlife. Herds of elephant and sambar, gaur and wild pigs wander down to the lakeside and can be observed from the launches that cruise the lake. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Periyar/Kumarakom (132 Kms/05 hrs)

Morning after breakfast, enjoy boat ride on Lake Periyar to view the wildlife at lake surroundings and then, drive to Kumarakom and check – in at hotel. Kumarakom, a quaint little place on the backwaters of Kerala. It lies on the eastern shore of the Vembanad Lake which is a bird sanctuary. Water fowl, cuckoo and wild duck can be seen in abundance here. In winter, large flocks of migratory wild duck from Siberia come in spectacular formation to roost. Kumarakom lies in a timeless world of gentle, unhurried activity. Lazy boatrides can be taken along the backwaters in a modified kettuvallom (rice boat) to peer into the simple lives of the people who live along the banks. Rest day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

Morning after breakfast, visit Guruvayur, aptly called the Dwarka of the South, is one of the most significant pilgrimage centers in India. The idol of the famous Sri Krishna Temple here is said to have been worshipped by Lord Brahma himself. Everyday, endless waves of men, women and children pour in for darshan (audience) of Lord Guruvayur (Lord Krishna). Besides pilgrims and tourists, brides and grooms with hundreds of guests flock here daily to get their weddings solemnized. The Guruvayur Temple is unique, as it is not built in the typical South Indian style of temple architecture. For example, its architecture is not massive or grand but simple in keeping with the style of Kerala houses. Its four gateways lead to the main gopuram (where the idol is installed), protected by a slopping terracotta roof made of Mangalore tiles. Again, in true Kerala style, the temple owns 36 mighty elephants that live at Punnathur Fort, 4 km north of the temple. Later drive to Vythiri. Arrive Vythiri and check in at hotel. Day 04: Vythiri/Calicut (60 Kms/1.5 Hrs)

Vythiri is a picturesque place located in the sylvan Northern High Ranges of Kerala in Wayanad District situated at a height of 2600 ft. above sea levelat 60 kms from Calicut. Morning after breakfast, visit fascinating Kuruva Island. Rest day at leisure. Later drive to Calicut. Arrive Calicut and check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05: Calicut/Cherai

Morning after breakfast visit Beypore (11 km) is a small coastal town known for its shipbuilding industry for centuries. It is still a favorite destination to buy large boats. Vadakara - is a commercial center of martial arts and the birthplace of Tacholi Othenan, a legendry hero of North Malabar. & Tellicherry and Sultan Battery. Thusharagiri is famous for its waterfalls and lush green forests. It is at a distance of 11 km from Kodenchery, a place abounding in rubber plantations, coconut, pepper, ginger, and spices of all sorts. Later drive to Cherai. Arrive Cherai.and check in at hotel. Day 06: Cherai/Kumarakom (47 Kms/01 hr)

Morning after breakfast, enjoy boat ride on Lake Periyar to view the wildlife at lake surroundings and then, drive to Kumarakom and check – in hotel. Kumarakom, a quaint little place on the backwaters of Kerala. It lies on the eastern shore of the Vembanad Lake which is a bird sanctuary. Water fowl, cuckoo and wild duck can be seen in abundance here. In winter, large flocks of migratory wild duck from Siberia come in spectacular formation to roost. Kumarakom lies in a timeless world of gentle, unhurried activity. Lazy boatrides can be taken along the backwaters in a modified kettuvallom (rice boat) to peer into the simple lives of the people who live along the banks. Overnight at hotel

Day 06: Kumarakom/Alleppey

Alleppey with its tranquil, deeply shaded maze of canals and backwaters has rightly been called the Venice of the East. Heavily-laden cargo wallams ply these waters, laboriously punted or tugged by sails as heavily patched as counterpanes, sharing their passage with fishing skiffs, ancient chugging ferries and paddled dug-outs carrying goods to market. The beach here has dense palm groves at one end and an ancient towering lighthouse at the other. Alleppey is also a centre for coir making Morning after breakfast, board the houseboat. Enjoy sailing through the day on the serene and paradise like backwaters of Kerala. Dinner and overnight will be on the Houseboat. Day 07: Alleppy/Marari (15 Kms/1/2 hr)

Morning after breakfast, drive to Marari. Marari Beach is an endless vista of sand and surf, but it is more. An authentic experience of the world of Kerala's traditional fishing villages, and a recreation of an ancient, harmonious way of life. The village of Mararikulam lies on a forgotten shore, midway up the Malabar coast, where the Indian Ocean finally decides that it has now become the Arabian Sea. Day free to enjoy the beach activities Overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Marari/Cochin (90 Kms/02 hr)

Morning after breakfast, day at leisue. Afternoon drive to Cochin. Arrive cochin and free for shopping. If time permits enjoy live Kathakali Dance performance at evening.. In time transfer to airport to board flight for Hongkong.
