Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month.
National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of
both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American
countries. You can learn more about the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at
https://www.hispanicheritagemonth.gov/
Hispanic refers to a person who is from, or a descendant of someone who is from, a Span-
ish-speaking country.
Latino/a or Latinx refers to a person who is from, or a descendant of someone who is
from, a country in Latin America.
Here at Dulles South Senior Center, our Spanish speaking members are working with the
staff to plan our first annual celebration so save the date: Thursday, October 7th. In the
meantime, we hope you will enjoy the upcoming displays that they have been working on
as we begin to share them at the center beginning September 15th.
Take a moment to talk with our members and find out which country our members are
from. Just some of the countries that our membership represents: Spain, El Salvador, Boliv-
ia, Peru, Mexico, Columbia, Puerto Rico, and more!
