Historic Designation Cudahy Historical Society is now honored with a County, State and National Listing for Historic Places designation. It is the first institution in Cudahy to receive all listings. A recognition ceremony was held at the depot on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015. Congratulations!   The NEW Board leadership makes change in committee assignment. After Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic stepped down as Chairwoman, Supervisor Theodore Lipscomb, Sr. was elected as Chairman. Chairman Lipscomb made a change with regard to my previous appointment. I will no longer Chair the Economic & Community Development Committee. Instead, I have been appointed as Vice-Chair of the Judiciary, Safety & and General Services Committee; I remain a member of Finance, Personnel and Audit Committee and also the Committee on Transportation, Public Works & Transit.   Milwaukee County 2016 Budget Process On Thursday, October 1, the County Executive will present his 2016 budget to the Board. The Finance committee will then begin an extensive review, department by department. This is the formal process where members of the public attend meetings and speak on any part of the budget. This formal review will also be followed by a public hearing on the budget scheduled for November 2 at the Mitchell Park Domes.    Clarification:

In the September Edition of the Jursik Update E-News, I gave the impression that the new permanent pavilion improvements at South Shore were paid for by MillerCoors. While MillerCoors did make a

substantial gift around water issues, their money did not pay for the pavilion improvements. Below is a breakdown of their gift: Breakdown of our budget for the 5-year MillerCoors grant:

UWM School of Freshwater Sciences $75,000 Migratory Bird Management $75,000 Beach Grooming - Labor $35,000 Restricted Maintenance Endowment $41,000 Site Improvements $205,000 Waste and Recycle Containers $2,000 Sandbar dredging by boat launch $38,000 Educational Kiosk $5,000 Marketing and outreach $9,000 Accessible Pathways $15,000

unique homemade craft items, an ever-tempting delicious array of baked goods and the “you never know what you will find” white elephant sale. Lunch items will be available to purchase. Entrance to the bazaar is free, and the raffle items will be drawn at 12:45 p.m. As we prepare for the bazaar, remember we need everyone’s help! You don’t need to bake the day of the event. Bake a few days prior and bring your items into the senior center. We can freeze them and pull them out for the sale. Once again, we will be baking kolache on Friday morning, Nov. 13th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Please pre-register so we know how many bakers we will have. The white elephant sale is always a big hit and items can be brought in at any time. Items can be anything that has been “gently used” and not broken or brand new. Remember to bring in things that you, yourself, would like to purchase! Raffle items are also a “big draw” to the bazaar. If you have a larger item you would like to donate, please see Sandy. We have always had wonderful raffle items. Let’s keep the tradition going! And, of course, we are always looking for new and unique items to sell on the craft table. Center members will, once again, be able to purchase an eight-foot table to sell their own homemade craft items on for $15. These tables will be reserved on a “first come-first served” basis, so please see Sandy if you are interested in renting one. Last year, the center made a profit of $2,534.23. The money earned is used to help supplement parties and events at the senior center. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped, and who will be helping, with this year’s event!
