Southeast Caribbean Dispatch July/August 2014 Newsletter L to R Kandi, Orvel, Todd, Dylan, Lori, Tammie, Paige and Damas. God is so good!! We got to go to California and visit our children and grandchildren. Here is a family shot taken our last night with them. We celebrated several Birthdays and had a lot of fun. We are so blessed that they are all in close proximity so when we do get to go, we can see them all. While in California we visited a supporting church and shared with them the movie “Chrissy”. It was made in Barbados and filmed in the Parrish we live in. It is about bullying and shows life in Barbados and the struggles of the children growing up. The children of Tyler CC had good questions after it and we enjoyed being able to answer some of them. We got to visit with old friends and the drive there was so nice. We even saw fields of Sunflowers, which always brightens a day. Wild life is always abundant as their house too. The turkeys had several hens with them too but we saw no babies with this group. Another pair had a whole big bunch of them though. Was so much fun to watch. This was our mourning view out our bedroom window. While with them Orvel got to go to a Hoopa Indian Reservation. They were having VBS and had a great turnout. This was a 5 hour drive north of Clear Lake, CA. A beautiful valley in northern California.

The Pastor at the Reservation on left and Pastor Greg Holmes on right.

And a train ride that Orvel wanted to try but didn’t get the chance. It was always full of children.

Kandi and her BFF Corinne Holmes.

We drove out to California by one route (80) and back by another (70) and truly enjoyed the scenery all along the way. It is surly a varied and diverse country and each area has its own beauty.

July 3rd as we headed down the mountains toward Denver, this was the traffic we saw. It kept backing up all the way to Denver. We were so blessed to be traveling the other direction.

We were even greeted one morning by the “Birds”. They were standing all over as we walked out the door and they did not move!!

Guess they wanted breakfast too.

Kandi made a Bajan dinner for the XYZ Senior Group of Diamond CC when we returned to Missouri.

Kathy, Orvel’s sister, came with us to help us serve. Another friend from the Branson area, Cristy Hagaman came and cooked the Fish Cakes for us. About 21 people attended.

We also showed the Bajan movie “Chrissy”.

Keroy Clarke and family, the pastor we work under, came to visit mom. Us “girls” had a picture together. So nice they were able to visit mom. The children had really grown since she last saw them.

Kandi’s Komments Twenty two of us went to Antigua for the 2014 Caribbean Youth Convention for a whole week. Barbados again won the Bible Bowl for the Caribbean again.

Here we are at the airport all ready to go.

The two Bible Bowl Teams and the presenter and score keepers.

At the Opening Ceremony that went for three and a half hours. Was really good!!

On the bus touring the island of Antigua. Was really beautiful with a lot more mountains then Barbados.

We were divided into teams so we could mix it up and get to know more people. My group.

Blessings in Christ, Orvel & Kandi. Contact information: Global Church Growth Southeast Caribe Mission P.O. Box 157 Nevada, MO 64772 E-Mail [email protected] Southeast Caribe Mission on FB
