LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

HAPPY LABOR DAY AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!We get excited this time of year; two great holidays to celebrate and this means the fall is here and we will soon have autumn leaves and crisp mornings followed by the night––Halloween––that ends the fall and begins our winter. Writers for sure will celebrate Labor Day. You see, writers are part of the American Workers. The labor movement created this day and dedicated it to the social and economic achievements of all American workers past, present and future. We. as writers. know about hard work. Whether we are writing a novel, nonfiction, short story, script, or poetry––we work hard. Getting the words on paper, editing draft after draft, until it all comes together. Our work, however, isn’t done there. We must seek out editors to proof our work, agents to represent us to traditional publishers, and then we must learn to market and promote our own book. If we self-publish our own book, the work may become harder especially in marketing and promoting. So yes, Labor Day should be special to us. too. October, the month we can stir our imaginations with festivities through Halloween where we attend costume parties, decorate, carve pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, lighting bonfires, and don’t forget those haunted houses, bobbing for apples and trick-or-treating for all the candy you can eat. I will admit this is a great night for writing a scary story…ooooh! This month we are honored to showcase Irene Hannon, Gail Gaymer Martin, Jamie Langston Turner, Amanda Kyle Williams, Ane Mulligan, C. Hope Clark, Linda Yezak, Robin Lee Hatcher, and Pamela S. Thibodeaux, just to mention a few. One of the things all these authors have in common is their dedication to their craft of writing and sharing their knowledge and experience with other writers. There are many more wonderful authors inside the magazine along with instructional and inspirational articles, so don’t miss one page or you just might miss that one piece of advice, that golden nugget that you need to propel you into being a “Bestselling Author.”

Happy Writing!
