Space Campus Noordwijk:A new opportunity for Space Business

National-regional-local governments have joined forces to develop Space Campus Noordwijk

Parties aim to modernize the ESTEC site and develop the Space Campus Noordwijk through a coordinated use of financial resources and administrative power in order to:

• strengthen the interaction between ESA-ESTEC and its environment

• create more innovative business and technological development around ESA-ESTEC

• strengthen the economic appeal of the region

Governments will invest over € 25 million to stimulate private investments

With the use of public funds, the National government, the Province of Zuid-Holland and the Municipality of Noordwijk aim to mobilize private parties for financing the development of Space Campus Noordwijk

Planned new facilities on Space Campus

International Meeting Facility: to be built on the ESTEC site and also

available for Space Campus Noordwijk companies and institutes.

SCN AVATAR: Virtual and Augmented Reality for Space. AVATAR is a

knowledge and R&D center that is focusing on the development and use of

virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). The Lab is focused on

optimizing engineering processes.

NEOC: groundstation for Earth Observation Data Applications. NEOC is a

not-for-profit foundation and an open innovation network for geodata based

innovation. NEOC is focused on education, exploration & creation with

remote sensing technologies. NEOC exchanges knowledge and ideas,

fosters entrepreneurship and collaborates to develop new initiatives.

Planned new facilities on Space Campus

Test centre for small satellites: One of the crucial elements of success in a small satellite program, is the Assembly Integration and Testing (AIT) phase. Dedicated specialized test facilities are in the planning phase.

Maker Space (Fab-Lab) will be realized on space campus (an ESTEC initiative)

Space Campus organization, with main tasks: daily support of companies and institutes on the campus, community building, marketing and (international) acquisition, organizing meetings on innovation
