Spaghetti Dinner

You are invited to Glenns Valley Elementray’s 24th Annual Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, September 13th, sponsored by Fifth Grade.

This fun-filled evening will begin at 5:30pm and last until 7:30. Your attendance will help support the fifth grade field trip, Wander Indiana.

For only $7.00, your dinner will include spaghetti, 2 breadsticks, salad, dessert and a drink. During the dinner, we will auction off baked goods, gift baskets, and more donated

from the GV staff. There is also a free photo opportunity for students and families! So grab your whole family, enjoy a nice spaghetti dinner, participate in

our auction, and help support our fifth grade students!! Tickets are NOT sold at the door.

Please submit your ticket order by September 12th to ensure your reservation.

Tips to help our students have an awesome day!!

When visiting for lunch please don’t bring food from a restaurant in for lunch.

Due to allergies we ask that no edible birthday treats be brought in for the class. Pencils,

erasers, and classrooms gifts are wonderful. Call the office by 10am if your student is absent. We miss them and want to make sure they are ok!

MEDICATION POLICY Medication can be administered at school. The following rules apply to prescription and non-prescription medications:

1. Medication must be provided by the student's parent or guardian and must be in the original container as supplied by the pharmacist or, in the case of OCT (over the counter) medications, brought in with the manufacturer's original label with the ingredients listed and the student's name affixed to the original package.

2. Written parent permission and instruction regarding dosage, time and frequency of administration. Parent permission shall be renewed at the beginning of each school year.

3. The parent or guardian is responsible at the end of the treatment regime for removing from the school any unused medica-tion which was prescribed for his/her child. If the parent does not pick up the medication by the end of the school year, the school nurse will dispose of and document that medication was discarded.

4. Students may not have medications in their possession while on school premises without written permission of a parent or guardian, written authorization of the student's physician, and, in the case of a prescription drug, a written prescription of a licensed medical practitioner authorized to prescribe the particular drug.

Dear Parents/Guardians of second and fifth grade students:

We need additional information on the academic needs and performance of individual students in order to provide instruction at the appropriate level for each child. All second and fifth grade students will take a standardized test to begin to collect this information. The testing will take place in September. If you have any questions regarding testing, please contact Kim Jovic at: kjovic@perryschools.org.

To be a Volunteer you will simply need to complete a background check. All you need to do is go through the Community Resources tab on the Perry Township Website to complete a background check or use the link below. Background checks are good for one school year. Car riders may be picked up at 3:15. Buses should arrive 25 minutes earlier than normal.

Community News Southport Public Library

Family Game Day at Southport Library is Saturday, September 7, 2019 12:00pm - 4:00pm. Families and children of all ages are invited to drop in any time to make new friends while playing board games or solving puzzles. Games and puzzles will be provided. Mask Making for Kids at Southport Library is happening on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 11:00am-12:00pm. In cele-bration of Lucha Libro at the Library, kids are invited to join La Sardina Gallery for a unique Lucha Libre experience. They’ll learn about Lucha Libre’s history and culture, read a story about a young Luchador, participate in a thumb wrestling match, and create their own Luchador mask. Lego Day at Southport Library is Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Families and children ages 2 and older are invited to drop in any time to learn to play and play to learn by using a variety of building items.

Perry Meridian Girls’ Basketball Developmental League

(Perry Side Only) PM Girls’ Developmental League is

accepting registration on our website. The cost is $75. Practices will begin October 28 and games will start in January during the week. You can also find a paper

registration in your school office. Registration closes November 1st.
