The  model  S303A  is  a  newly  designed  Compact  Disc  player  based  on  the  47  Treasure  model  0647.  It  

consists  of  a  single  Compact  Disc  (CD)  transport  with  an  external  16  bit  non-­‐oversampling  DAC.  The  

updated  design  offers  even  more  natural  sound  reproduction  than  the  previous  model.  The  model  S303A  

has  a  very  compact  footprint  with  the  same  dimensions  as  a  large  MOLESKINE®  notebook  (140  mm  wide  

x  225  mm  deep).

  FEATURES                                                                                                                                                                      

-­‐  The  model  S303A  uses  a  Philips  TDA1543  16  bit  non-­‐oversampling  DAC  for  clear  and  

vivid  soundscape.  The  model  S303A  also  supports  more  traditional  connection  types  

between  the  CD  transport  and  DAC  such  as  S/PDIF  (that  require  intermediate  digital  

signal  conversions).    

 

-­‐  The  model  S303A  uses  a  separate  power  supply  for  the  CD  transport  to  decrease  induction  noise  from  

the  transformer  and  switching  noise  from  rectifiers.  

 

-­‐  There  is  a  separate  digital  power  supply  for  controller  and  CD  transport  from  analog  power  supply  for  

D/A  converter.    

 

-­‐  A  transformer  is  used  for  a  source  of  power  for  the  S303A.  Using  an  EI  core  

transformer  instead  of  a  toroidal  core  transformer  results  in  a  more  relaxed  and  

natural  sound.    

 

-­‐  A  discrete  transistor  regulator  is  used  instead  of  an  IC  regulator  (3  pins)  for  clear  

and  ultra  low  noise.  An  IC  regulator  can  be  regarded  as  a  type  of  op-­‐amp  and  is  a  

source  of  noise,  so  we  do  not  use  them  in  audio  signal  circuits.    

 

-­‐  The  model  S303A  supports  both  an  internal  and  external  power  supply  for  the  

DAC.  The  model  S303A  can  be  switched  from  an  internal  rectified  AC  line  to  an  

external  power  source  such  as  an  automobile  battery  or  NiMH  rechargeable  

cell-­‐batteries.  

 

-­‐  The  model  S303A  front  panel  controls  are  user  friendly,  easy  to  operate.  The  front  panel  consists  of  a  jog  

dial  and  tactile  push  buttons.    

 

-­‐  You  can  also  operate  the  S303A  player  from  a  compact  sized  remote  control  (available  as  an  accessory).
