ABOUT ASIAN LUTHERAN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE (ALIC)The Asian Lutheran Internati onal Conference (ALIC) is a network that emerged out of and is organized by the Associati on of Asians and Pacifi c Islanders-Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (AAPI-ELCA). This associati on is recognized by the ELCA through its Congregati onal and Synodical Mission and Global Mision units. Because of cultural and linguisti c bonds, Asians in the ELCA and Asia looked for an opportunity to engage in theological refl ecti on relevant to their cultural backgrounds and ministries.

Seven conferences have been held from 1999-2011: 1999 (Hong Kong), 2001 (Bangkok), 2004 (Bangkok), 2007 (Bangkok), 2009 (Hong Kong), 2011 (Patt aya) and 2013 (Chiang Mai). ALIC is the fi rst and only network that brings Asians from ELCA and Asians from Asia together for fellowship, networking, theological discussion and sharing of mutual concerns in ministry.

ALIC is guided by its steering com-mitt ee, consisti ng of Asian leaders from Asia and ELCA. At present, committ ee members are Rev. Dr. Fred Rajan (Chicago), Prof. Edmond Yee, Ph.D. (Berkeley), Rev. Dr. Franklin Ishida (Chicago), Rev. Richard Lui (Hong Kong), Bishop Willem Simormatha (Indonesia),

and Rev. Dr. Augusti ne Jeyakumar (India). Prof. Paul Rajashekar, Ph.D. (Philadelphia) serves as a resource person to the committ ee while Rev. Dr. Pongsak Limthongviratn serves as ALIC Coordinator.
