Advantages. Current earth movingand fine grading processes are laborintensive, dependent on manpower andinstruments. Maintaining consistent gradebetween grade stakes is challenging, evenfor experienced operators. The AccuGradeLaser Grade Control System reduceslabor requirements, aids operators inmaintaining a consistent grade acrossthe worksite and reduces material cost.

Simple Operation. The AccuGradeSystem consists of 4 basic components:

• Laser Transmitter

• Laser Receiver

• Electric Mast

• In-Cab Display

1) Laser Transmitter. An off-board lasertransmitter (sold separately) emits a thinbeam of light that rotates 360º, creatinga grade reference over the work area.The transmitter is mounted on a tripod sothe laser beam can rotate unobstructedabove the tractor.

2) Laser Receivers. A digital laserreceiver, mounted on a telescopic mastabove the blade’s cutting edge, is usedto detect the laser beam. During gradeset-up, with the cutting edge placedat finish elevation, the electric mastautomatically positions the laserreceiver to within 1.5 mm of the centerof the laser beam. As the blade movesabove or below finish grade elevationduring the grading process, correctioninformation is sent to the in-cab display.One receiver is required for singledimension control (lift) and tworeceivers are required for two-dimensional control (lift and tilt).

3) Electric Masts. Electric adjustablemachine-mounted telescopic mast(s)are used for mounting the laserreceiver(s) over the cutting edge,ensuring unobstructed laser reception.Powered by an electric motor, theoperator can vertically raise andlower the mast(s) from inside thecab for precise positioning of thereceiver(s)’ elevation.

AccuGrade Laser Grade Control System

4) In-Cab Display. The in-cab displaywith easy to read grade indicator andbacklit elevation display delivers allAccuGrade system information to thecab for easy viewing by the operator.The in-cab display arrows show theblade’s position relative to grade andindicates cut or fill requirements of thework area. A built-in beeper providesaudible tones to indicate grade errorsand switch activation. Push buttonoperation allows the operator to easilyswitch from manual mode for roughgrading to automatic for fine grading.

Applications. The AccuGrade System isdesigned for a wide range of constructionearthwork applications requiring tighttolerances and high production rates.The single laser system or dual lasersystem can be selected depending onthe job requirements. The single lasersystem is ideal for fine grading siteswith flat, single slope surfaces. Themore versatile dual laser system iswell matched for single or dual slopesurfaces such as industrial, commercialand residential building sites.

Automatic Blade Control Feature.Automatic control of the blade’s liftand/or tilt, depending on single or dualreceiver system, provides consistentaccuracy with higher productivity byreducing blade control demands on theoperator. Based on correction signals,a hydraulic control valve automaticallyraises or lowers the blade cutting edgeto maintain the correct blade cuttingedge elevation. A single push buttonmounted on the blade control lever,allows the operator to easily switchfrom automatic to manual control forvarious work conditions.

Weatherproof Design. All componentsare designed rugged for dependableperformance in harsh environments.

Caterpillar 3046T Diesel Engine.Designed specifically for small tomedium size earthmoving machines,the Cat six-cylinder 3046T engine isinherently balanced, providing lowvibration, superior performance andexceptional responsiveness. The 3046Tengine is designed for improved responseand performance at lower engine speeds.This is important for earthmovingmachines in the under 100 hp size class,allowing operators to work in tightspaces, at part throttle and slower travelspeeds without sacrificing responsiveness.The turbocharger also helps reduce fuelconsumption and sound levels.

Direct Injection Fuel System. The directinjection fuel system is adjustment freefor reduced maintenance. High pressurefuel injection results in reduced fuelconsumption and emissions. Electric,internal fuel shut-off solenoid isprotected from the elements toprovide long life.

Turbocharger. The turbochargerimproves response and performanceat low to medium engine speeds.

Spin-on Oil and Fuel Filters. Spin-onoil and fuel filters are verticallymounted and easily accessiblefor faster maintenance.

Air Inlet Heater. The air inlet heaterdelivers dependable starts whenoperating in cold temperatures. A built-in temperature switchhelps ensure lasting reliability.

Lubrication System. Gear driven oilpump provides lubrication from a deepsump oil pan. An efficient, multiple-plate, water-cooled oil cooler prolongsengine and lubricant life.

Cooling System. A large diameter fanand full length, water-cooled cylinders,combined with excellent thermalefficiency, minimize heat rejection,prevent overheating and prolongengine life.

Regulations. The Caterpillar 3046Tengine is EPA Tier 2, MOC Step 2,and CE Stage 2 emissions certified.

EngineThe well-proven Caterpillar 3046T six-cylinder engine provides smooth, responsive power,excellent fuel economy and lasting reliability.

Simpler Operation, Improved Control.We listened to our customers anddesigned the new G-Series machineswith even simpler operation andimproved control. This allows theoperator to concentrate on moreimportant aspects of the job suchas blade control.

Joystick Control. The joystick controlis easy to use. Speed, direction andsteering are all controlled with thejoystick. The result is easier operationand improved productivity. Ergonomicplacement reduces operator effortand fatigue.

Speed and Direction. The joystick hasthree simple detented positions for travel:forward, reverse and neutral. A newfeature is the capability to utilize fasterreverse speed as a percentage of forwardspeed for increased productivity. Twojoystick-mounted buttons are used toinfinitely increase and decrease speed.An indicator on the dash displays thetractor’s current operating speed setting.When the joystick is moved to theneutral position, the machine stops.

Steering. With the machine moving inforward or reverse, move the joystickto the left to turn the machine to theleft; move the joystick to the right toturn right. The more the handle ismoved to the right or left, the tighter theturn. Regardless of ground conditions,steering is consistent and predictable.Moving the joystick to the far right orleft will make the tracks counterrotatefor maneuvering in tight work areas.

Counterrotation. The D3G maneuverseasily through side loading bladeapplications. Simply engage counter-rotation briefly to correct machineposition. Counterrotation also provideseasy, quick maneuvering in small,confined work areas.

Tracking. The D3G has excellenttracking capabilities which increaseproductivity on side slopes.

Powerturn. Utilizing active effort ofboth tracks during a turn allows formore pushing power at the blade andless spillage of material from the blade.

Hydrostatic Transmission ControlSimple joystick control eases operation and increases productivity.

Durable Components. Advancedmetallurgy processes produce improvedlife for bushing and sprocket segments.Segmented sprockets (standardequipment) offer easy serviceabilityand low replacement cost compared toreplacing the complete sprocket hub.Caterpillar undercarriages are designedfor long wear and lower owning andoperating costs.

Complete Guarding. Caterpillarundercarriages are designed with fulllength guarding on top of the track rollerframe. This prevents abrasive materialfrom falling down on moving parts.

Available Configurations. The D3G isavailable in either an extra long (XL)or low ground pressure (LGP)undercarriage configuration.

XL Undercarriage. Track lengthis extended on extra long (XL)undercarriages for increased groundcontact area and flotation, superiorbalance and excellent finish grading.

LGP Undercarriage. The low groundpressure (LGP) undercarriage offersa wider track, increasing groundcontact area for optimum flotationand greater stability on sloping andfinish grading jobs.

LGP with Standard Shoes. For increasedstability when additional flotation is notrequired, 406 mm (16") track shoes areavailable for the D3G LGP.

UndercarriageDurable components provide maximum performance and wear life.

VPAT Blade. The VPAT blade isspecifically designed for finish grading,backfilling ditches, cutting V ditches,windrowing, fill spreading, mediumland clearing and heavy dozing. VPATblades are built with four full-width(three on intermediate and LGP), box-section reinforcement cells forunmatched strength and durability.

Increased Blade Capacity. Bladecapacity has been increased by 14%to greatly improve productivity.

With a 14% increase in blade capacity, the Variable Pitch, Power Angle and Tilt (VPAT)blade is designed and built for unmatched versatility, durability and strength.

Blade and Mainframe

Larger Trunnion. The blade trunnionball size has been increased to providelonger life of the trunnion and reduceowning and operating costs. The trunnionis also now mounted on the C-frameinstead of the blade.

Adjustable Top Pitch Link. The adjustabletop pitch link provides a solid linkbetween the blade and the top of the tilttower on the C-frame. The turn buckletop pitch link allows the blade pitch tobe adjusted without the use of tools.The cutting edge position can be adjustedbetween 50 and 55 degrees. The pitchlink cover has been redesigned to providebetter retention.

Improved Pin Joints. Pin joints havebeen improved to be more durable andprovide longer life. Remote lubricationpoints provide easier service.

One-Piece Mainframe. Modeled afterthe large Caterpillar track-type tractors,the mainframe provides a solid backbone for handling forces generated

during tough dozing. The roboticwelding process delivers reliabilityand durability throughout the life ofthe machine.

Hydrostatic Winch. Previous mechanicalwinches were driven by shafts andcontrolled by brakes and clutches. Thisnew winch is driven by its own closed-loop hydrostatic system consisting of avariable displacement hydraulic pistonpump and motor.

Infinitely Variable Speed Control.This winch offers outstanding controlof the load with infinitely variablemodulation of speed and pull. Othershaft-driven winches force the operatorto choose the gear ratio of the winch.The G-Series hydrostatic wincheliminates this compromise byproviding the speed of a standardspeed winch and the pull of a lowspeed winch, all in one package.

Forestry Segment. A new, easier way towork in the woods. The new hydrostaticwinch makes the job easier with:

• Excellent line pull at any speed

• Infinitely variable drum speed

• Lower operator effort

• Excellent load control

360 Degree Guarding. All around screenguarding is available. Canopy versionincludes screened, hinged doors withdampening device along with side andrear screens. The cab version offersLexan glass doors for improved visibilitywhile providing protection. Meets OSHAand WCB requirements.

Parallelogram Ripper. This new, largertool is more aggressive and allows theoperator to do more effective ripperwork. Heavy duty design provides longlife.
