Participants will learn about the background and history of the current Ebola outbreak in West Africa including the clinical case definitions, clinical presentation, routes of transmission, and impact on
children.
*This 45 minute presentation will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by a brief presentation of our preparedness at Children’s Hospital Colorado and then a panel discussion – finishing at 1:30 p.m.

Healthcare professionals who care for children including community and hospital-based physicians, physician assistants, RNs, allied healthcare providers, residents, fellows, and medical students. Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credit:

Rupa Narra, MD Current CDC EISO (Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer)

Dr. Rupa Narra is an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
who recently worked as part of an Ebola Response Team in Guinea. During her deployment in Guinea, she
supported efforts to improve data management, contact tracing, and infection control at local health structures.
She also worked with the CDC Ebola Medical Care Task Force to develop and conduct a training course at a
FEMA site in Alabama for clinicians intending to provide medical care to patients in an Ebola Treatment Unit in
West Africa.
Dr. Narra is a board certified pediatrician who completed her pediatric residency at University of Colorado
School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital Colorado. Prior to joining the CDC, she worked with MSF/Doctors
Without Borders for 4 years. She has worked in Kenya, Haiti, South Sudan, India, and Central African
Republic and has clinical experience with mass casualty response; pediatric emergencies; refugee health;
malnutrition; and infectious, tropical, and vaccine-preventable diseases.
